I was sleeves 10/1/14 and still have to take omeprozale daily. I feel dependent on it at this point. Anyone else dealing with the same thing? I never had issues with GERD until I had surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had my gastric sleeve surgery 10/1 and went from 296 to 282 by the one week doctor's visit on 10/9. Now I'm stuck there. I'll be three weeks post op on tuesday and the scale is not budging... no matter what. I've been on full liquids, and will start soft foods this weekend. I'm getting pretty frustrated because I've heard of the three week stall, but never the one week stall. Am i doing something wrong? How am i not losing weight only eating a small amount and liquids at that.

Did You Freak Out About Surgery on the Day Of?
_2juicy_ replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I was freaking... Especially once I got into the operation room...it got terribly real then lol. But I just kept telling myself that I'll be asleep and I'll wake up in no time all finished. I think some caution is healthy, it's major surgery and life changing. -

Stopped taking pain meds day 5... Day 4 I was walking around department stores with my sister -
Goodness it's so discouraging. Every day I wake up thinking maybe today is the day the scale will change and ...nope 282. I'm almost as sick of 282 as I am with protein drinks lol

How long did it take to return to work?
_2juicy_ replied to vsgcrystalg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off exactly two weeks, and honestly I was pain free around day 4 - 5. I did have low energy though, so it was nice to be home focusing on my water intake which is a full time job in itself. When I did go back to work, the hardest part was and still is my commute. The hustle and bustle of the NYC commute is just exhausting for me, but that's the worst part. -
7 days post op today. I am supposed to be on Clear liquids until I see my doctor (Thursday).. However I was super tired of my four options (Water, broth, sf Jello and Protein shakes) so I thought I would step out the box and strain some of my moms chicken Soup. After I drank it maybe 20 minutes, I felt my vision go fuzzy (I could see but there was "noise" in my vision) and my head began to hurt. I took my pain meds and took my blood pressure which read normal. Anyone else have this happen before? I'm wondering if this is my body telling me something in the soup, I'm not ready for yet. Any thoughts? How does your body react?

An update, had my surgery Oct 1st. Went well, with no complications. Right now I'm home 7 days post op. My incisions are doing well, not causing me any pain other then when I bend over. I was driving 5 days post op, and also stopped taking my pain meds 5 days post op. I've been out window shopping in the mall, just for the walking really and to get out the house. The most daunting thing is still being on Clear liquids, which hopefully will change when I see my nut and surgeon Thursday. How are all the other new sleeves doing?

How does your body react when you eat something your sleeve doesn't agree with yet?

Hmmm very interesting. Thank you for your response. Hopefully I can move on to some more options soon because clear liquids is killing me slowly -

The soup had chicken pumpkin, celery, carrots, peppers... Nothing bad by any means and I strained it out. Do you guys think my stomach didn't agree with that or there's something else going on? -
My surgeon wants me to be 275 from 318 before my oct. 1st date. I think that's pretty impossible, so I'm wondering what everyone's preop weight loss was. First two weeks I was down 11lbs, now I am down another 7lbs. So I'm at 300. Is this even possible to be 275 before surgery? I'm worried that I will have to push my surgery back and I really don't want to. ????

I'm October 1st too, I wanna be buddies... You too MelissaY. I'm so nervous and anxious. It's unreal. Stay in touch ladies

Okay today is day 2 of my pre-op diet and I swear I did not think it would be so difficult. My surgeon has me on the light version where I can eat a meal at dinner ( lean protein and veggies or a salad) and 2 shakes and a protein bar throughout the day. I will begin the full preop diet when I get closer to my October date (he wants me to lose 25 lbs so my liver can shrink). Both days I've completely messed up. Yesterday I did great during the day, but went to a restaurant with a friend who is leaving town and ordered what I wasn't supposed to. I went to the gym this morning and burned 700 cals in guilt and did okay the rest of the day, but just had a small serving of pasta for dinner. Right now I'm feeling like a failure. How can I change my lifestyle if I can't even succeed on the light version of the pre-op diet? Anyone else struggle through pre-op diet? Any tips?

Struggling through Pre-Op diet

You right.. The first few days are the toughest. Now it's not so bad and much easier to stick to. I have more energy and it's nice being full without that "too full heavy" feeling. So far, down 6lbs in 4 days! I'll keep you guys postes -
Struggling through Pre-Op diet

Thank you all.. I've been watching loads of VSG youtube's to keep me motivated. I did much better today, and I don't feel very hungry.. Just a little but when I do I drink Water and it goes away. I have found myself standing at the fridge or looking in cabinets and I guess that just goes to show that one of my triggers is boredom. I'm going to start a food journal, so I can keep tabs on my mood when I ate as well as what I'm eating. I'm also working out to help keep my weight down. Thinking of shrinking my liver just keeps me that much more focused, so thank you so all so much. It's nice to have people to vent to. Some of the people around me support me, but don't know what's it's really like to be on this journey. -

I was given opti fast by my NUT. I am doing it though.. Kicking and screaming but I'm taking it one day at a time. Thank you so much for the advice and suggestions. When I get though this, it will only make me stronger -
I have an October 1 surgery date and like you, I'm having these food funeral feelings as well. I wasn't nervous until I got a date, now, I'm anxious, nervous, excited and everything else.

I was told at my first consult to do as many of the preliminary appointments as I can before my second visit. That is the day I am supposed to get a tentative surgery date and I was told the more you have done, the sooner your surgery date can be. My second visit is august 5th and I have completed everything except radiology appointment and my gyn. Hopefully when I go back, they just put me on the pre op diet and I get my surgery by October.

I have HIP Prime and have no date yet. I did my first consult, but was told to start doing the preliminaries before hand. I have to see a cardiologist, a pulmonary doctor, psych, get an abdomen screening, letter of medical necessity from PCP along with 3-5 years of past physicals, GYN for pregnancy prevention, radiologist, and an endoscopy

I have HIP Prime hmo. I am going through the process right now. I do not have a surgery date at this time, I will get one on August 5th, but I will be covered. My surgeon's office recommended that in order to speed up the process, do the preliminary doctor visits between the first consult and second visit.

I have HIP Prime HMO too, and my surgery is being covered. Dr. Nishimura at New York Bariatrics in Hewlett takes the insurance. Try them out.. they aren't in Brooklyn, so it's a drive for you but it may be worth it since they take your insurance.
