    1st Month

Hi Cio. I feel the same way. I'm learning that each day is a new day, and that we are all heading in the right direction. I'm just happy to know that I'm not the only person out there feeling the same thing.
  2. I've having a weird/bad week. In my first week after surgery I lost 12 pounds. I'm in week two, and I only lost 3 pounds--if that. I admit I had a bad eating episode of saltine crackers, and I'm definitely not drinking like I should. I also had to be put on steroids for a bad allergic reaction this week. Nonetheless, I'm really disappointed that the scale isn't moving down any faster. I definitely don't want to feel like I'm already failing--but I really do.

    Surgery and Post-Op

Wow, you've had a rough time. But thank God you're doing better! Please keep us posted. I'm praying for you!!
  4. How are you feeling Katress77? I had my surgery on Monday, and I'm feeling ok--just really sore on one side. Surgery day I could barely move without crying. Day 2 was better but I had a lot of problems staying oxygenated and the Demerol made me really nauseated. Day 3 I got to go home. I didn't walk a lot in the hospital--even though I was in a bariatric center, the nurses were horrible! They were really rude. I didn't have any family with me, so I'm doing all of my walking at home. I have a 2 year old, so I am constantly going up and down the stairs. When my husband gets home, we're going to Wal-Mart which will make me walk a lot, and I'm hoping to take my daughter to the zoo either this weekend or next weekend. The gas pains are virtually gone. My only issues are if I don't take sips and breaks between the sips. If I have 3 sips in a row, I really feel it--horrible pain. Be happy. You've made a great decision to take control of your life. There will be tough days, but you'll get through it.

    What would you change?

Hi. I just had the plication on Monday. I went with it for a few reasons--mostly the cost ($5,000) and that my intestines would not be affected (no dumping and I have a history of colon problems). I've heard about possible reversals, but my opinion is that reversals can theoretically be done but generally aren't because there's an enormous amount of scar tissue to deal with. Plication has been done extensively in other countries--not so much in the US, so finding a really good doctor is the most important issue. Also, you can still gain weight back with a bypass, sleeve, plication, band, etc. It's really about you and how you follow the bariatric diet. Finally, I didn't qualify for the sleeve because my BMI wasn't high enough. Do what's best for you. Find a doctor you really trust. All of us have a bunch of opinions, but only you know what you can and can't handle.

    Just starting my journey

Hi. I'm 37, and I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. My birthday is in 10 days, so this is my birthday present to myself. I want to live better, get rid of the sleep apnea, PCOS, prediabetes, and all the problems that come with these illnesses. I have a lot of mixed emotions, but I will get through this.
