Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes to get an answer from Horizon BcBs of NJ? All of the paperwork was faxed last week and I have surgery planned for Dec 13th. This has got to be the worst of all the waits. thanks!

Hi everyone, Sorry, I know this question has been asked before but~ what are the different sizes the band can come in and why would one person need one size over another? I have also heard of people here talking about the vanguard band- just looking for as much info as possible- thanks Lisa

I was banded on 12/13 and haven't had any problems so far. About a week ago I started getting this "fluttering" in my chest right between my breasts. It doesn't hurt but it is noticable and uncomfortable. It definately wasn't there before last week. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this and what it may be. thanks

December Bandsters: First Fill Yet?
Lisa*in*NJ replied to phazer08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 12/13 and my Dr doesn't have me coming in for a fill until Feb. 17th! I am hungry and struggling all of the time. I have lost 18lbs so far but have worked my butt off to get that far. I hope I have good restriction right away because I need help!:help: -

:hungry: I just had a ginger and soy tuna steak from Bumble Bee and it was awesome!! It comes in a little foil pouch already seasoned and cooked. I heated it up in a saute pan with it's own juice and it was really, really good!:clap2: It's kinda high in sodium (soy sauce will do that) but once in awhile for me is ok. You can find it in the regular tuna isle. for a 4 oz pouch here's the Nut. facts: 170 calories 2.5 total fat 40 cholesterol 1000 Sodium 3 carbs 34g Protein it was worth my $2.00 (sale price) just thought I'd share.

I was told by surgeon that only the Bypass patients have to do this...thank goodness.

Hi everyone, I have been banded since Dec 13th and since the 2nd week I have really been struggling. I am always hungry, I am not supposed to snack between meals but my stomach is screaming to be fed.:hungry: For the most part I only snack on good stuff-yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese. I am trying not to eat past 7pm but I get so hungry around 9 that I will snack. I have lost 15lbs which is good but I had hoped for more. I know my whole situation is a common but I just feel that I shouldn't be so hungry or be able to eat as much as I am. I will get my 1st fill on Feb. 17th and my Dr. will not budge... I just had to complain a little, I knew to expect this but I had hoped to be one of the "chosen few" who didn't suffer with hunger until their 1st fill. Other than that I haven't had any side effects at all! Port site is great and only mildly sore when I twist a little too much. I guess over all I really shouldn't be complaining! Thanks for listening though

I am on regular foods now and have not had a problem with anything but I also chew, chew and chew. I have been having a really hard time counting calories. I make everything homemade..stew, Soup stuff like that. How do you count calories for things like that? I wish there was a calorie book out there to help-I could be eating 2000 calories a day for all I know. I have never looked forward to a needle (fill) so much in my life. Beanie- I am not allowed raw veggies for a while....carrots would be great!

My surgery was $33,000 only had to pay my $5.00 co-pay to the surgeon. Thank goodness!

Ok, my dh told me in no uncertain terms that since I was banded(12/13) my breath has been terrible-Gee thanks! I brush 3x a day, floss, rinse, but it just isn't helping. Has anyone had this problem and how do I get rid of it?

Hi everyone, sorry I have been absent in awhile I have been....busy! Yes that's right I have ventured into the world again-what a relief! I am doing much, much better, I am down 11lbs and HUNGRY! I had my 1st "food" yesterday a thinned out strained mushroom soup and it was divine! I kinda disregarded my Dr's orders of no sugar just a little bit. I had a gatorade the other day and what a difference! It really helped to get me moving. Water's good but I just needed something more. Other than that my incisions are very sore but looking well-no redness or goo. I cant believe it and I am almost ashamed to say, but I chewed up a Christmas cookie and then spit it out.....it was heavenly! I never could understand when people did that, now I do! thanks for the good wishes for the puppy! We can't wait, she should be able to come to us the end of February-I should be nice and healed by then. We decided to name her Heidi to stick with her German roots. Kinda typical but are willing to take suggestions if anyone has any! Well gotta get started for the day. Have a great one!
