  1. I was 330 day of surgery and I've been through a stall already. Was hoping to be down a little more by now but that's just me putting more pressure on myself to lose but I'll take it!

    Food tastes SO good!

That's great! I went to soft foods last week and I was like a kid in a candy store! LOL For some reason the first thing I wanted was egg salad. I ate refried Beans with a little salsa and shredded cheese and the ricotta bake for my dinners almost every night. I also have the same problem with getting around only eating until I'm full when my head sees more food in the bowl and doesn't want to waste it. So far, so good though!
  3. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! Hubby had to work so we're celebrating tomorrow! Can't wait to have some turkey!

  4. Had my 3 week post-op appt today. Skipping puree's and going to soft foods! Halle-freakin'-lujah! Also down to 311.2 which means I am hopefully out of my stall! Good day!

    Refrained beans?!

Yes, make sure they are the fat free kind. I am able to split one can into five meals with each one being a little over 1/4 cup.

    Learning to eat Post-op

Eating slow is hard for me as well but you get used to it. I just wish I could keep my food warm while I eat. By the time I'm half way through it's cold and I have to reheat it.

    Syntrax Protein

I love the Vanilla Bean Torte. I mix it in the blender with 1/2 a banana or natural Peanut Butter.

Miss Mac, the chocolate is the one I bought. LOL I usually drink Premier Protein but I was out a little longer than expected yesterday and one of my stops was a health food store. I was in a pinch so I bought it. I got half of it down but couldn't take it anymore.

    Please Help Food Cravings

I'm just about 2 weeks post op as well and I have to do two weeks of full liquids as opposed to one. Yes, the choices are getting old and boring but Cream of Wheat has become my best friend! I have this at least once a day. What I like about it is, I can make it savory or sweet and it's hot and out of all the foods I can have during this phase, this actually fills me up. Yesterday I was shopping and bought some of those Campbell's on the go soups. They are creamy and much more satisfying than broth. Yogurt has also been comforting because this was one food I was missing and now I have it for Breakfast every morning and I have milk before bed. Two things to remember: this phase is only temporary and if everything everyone says is true, the pureed stage will make a big difference in filling up our little tummy's!

    ISOPURE

I've been drinking Isopure RTD mixed with Water and Crystal Light. So far my favorite combination has been Isopure Apple Melon and apple flavored Crystal Light (WalMart brand actually). The grape is just ok. The fruit punch and mango peach are both pretty good. There's also an orange flavor I've heard is also good.

    Feeling regret...

I know what you mean. It's hard for me to sit here eating my cream of wheat while DH is eating regular meals but I'm not going to allow him to deprive himself. It's also hard because the liquid phases do not fill me up and keep me satisfied. BUT, I also know that this time period is temporary. You will get to eat normal again and enjoy some of the foods you miss, you just have to get through this part first.
  15. These liquids just don't fill me up! Another week and a half to get to the puree stage!

Have another protein shake. If you're still hungry, have another. During the liquid phases, I sometimes had 4-5 per day. At 160 calories each, that's still only 800 calories... not that calories matter for a long time after surgery...

I thought about that but I'm also trying to not stray too far from my surgeon's instructions for this phase which is to have only one protein shake per day. Throughout the day I drink Isopure RTD mixed with 1/2 gallon of water and Crystal Light so I'm getting a minimum of 70 g of protein in each day.

    What size is your sleeve?

I have no idea either but my post-op meal instructions are 2 oz every 3 hours and 2 oz does not fill me up. I do "cheat" and add another ounce and I am more satisfied with that. My follow-up was with his assistant so I won't actually see my surgeon until 2 more weeks at my next follow-up so I do plan on asking him how small my stomach is.
  17. I agree with looking at old photos of yourself when you were thinner and maybe keeping a couple tacked on your fridge and bathroom mirror as constant reminders. Challenge yourself and give yourself some mini-goals. Remind yourself of where you came from and how determined you are not to go back! Also, think of next summer and how good you are going to look in summer clothes not to mention how much fun it's going to be to go shopping for summer clothes!

    chew, chew, chew and binders

I woke up in the hospital with mine on and it went with me when I left. Have you asked your surgeon if you will be getting one in the hospital?
  19. JerzyTomato74

    chew, chew, chew and binders

I am 10 days post-op and I still wear the binder. It also happens to be my surgeon's recommendation to continue to wear it but it makes me feel more secure with it on. There are times during the day I take it off for a little bit and you can sleep without it but when you're up and about, I definitely recommend wearing it.

    Dressing up Cream of Wheat

I was wondering about the flavored ones but I notice they are made with sugar so I bought the plain instead. I definitely like it made with milk!
  22. My husband and I both decided to have the surgery but we have a 1 year old daughter so we couldn't both be out of commission at the same time. We decided I would go first just because I don't work outside our home and it would be easier for him to take the time off work after the first of the year. I just had my surgery on 10/29 and he will be having his on 1/26. He has taken a week off to help me and it has been great having that support during recovery. He's been able to take me places just to get out of the house and to/from my post-op appointment. Check with your surgeon what your post-op restrictions may be. Mine said that I cannot drive for 14 days, no lifting more than 10 lbs for 14 days, no stair climbing more than 12 steps per day. If DH and I were both under these restrictions at the same time, it would be hard to do if we didn't have additional help. You're both going to be having a follow-up appointment post-op so make sure you will be able to have someone drive you both and if you have your laundry on another floor (i.e. basement) that may be off limits for a about a week post-op. All surgeons instructions are different so if you can get an idea what kind yours is going to have it may help you prepare. Good luck to you both!!!

    Can I take ibuprofen?

It's important that you let your surgeon know because ibuprofen has blood thinning properties and this could increase your risk of complications during surgery. They will probably be giving you a blood thinner just before your surgery which could make it even worse.

    Thoughts on sugar free?

I hate artificial sweeteners but for the sake of my post-op diet, I added them in. Once I get a couple months out I plan on doing a juice cleanse. After that, no more artificial or processed anything!
