  1. Hi! I am 8 weeks out today from DS. I have lost 49 pounds. I feel like I should have lost more. Has anyone else had similar results or better/worse they can share? I still have at least 51 to go. Thanks!!

    Weight loss time

Wow will2014!!! You are doing great. So happy for you. I am now 5 1/2 months post-op and down 98 pounds. I'm pretty proud of myself. I have not reverted to old habits except for lack of exercise. I avoid it like the plague which is something I know I need to change. I so want to drink diet coke but have not given into that urge. All in all I'm progressing nicely. Thanks for the feedback!!
  3. Hi all! Just had my DS on Wednesday. Came home on Saturday. My belly button incision keeps leaking when I walk around. It's clear and does not have an odor. I keep changing the gauze and tegaderm. My question is has this happened to anyone else and if so how long did it last? Thanks!

Basically it's a step past the sleeve where the duodenal valve is switched from the small intestine to the large intestine. I have almost no absorption of fats and calories but also vitamins and nutrients so I take a lot of supplements.

    Stomach cramps

I haven't tried any vegetables but I had soup with spinach in it and I vomited all evening. I'm guessing it's just too hard to digest right now.

  11. Does anyone know tracy6914? We had our surgery the same day, July 16, 2014, and we were messaging. She had many complications and I have not heard anything from her since 8/30/14. I'm so worried about her. I just want to make sure she's ok. Thanks for any info in advance:)

    Weight loss time

Proud Grammy you are so right! My expectations are too high. It's like being on a diet before surgery, not eating a Hershey bar one day and wondering how much weight I lost. Totally unrealistic I know. ???? Postop I have been to some meetings at NYP but there were no ds'rs so I might try Lenox Hill. Thanks for the advice!

Not that I'm not happy. I'm not sure if that is a good amount for this surgery. Am I on track? That's all. Sorry to bother you but you didn't need to respond like that. ????

    anyone from texas have DS

I'm so sorry you're feeling so sad. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and I too felt some "buyers remorse" the first 2 weeks. Everyday will get a little easier. It's still the hardest thing I've ever done in my life but better everyday. Just do whatever your drs tell you to do and you will be fine.

    Vomiting

I am on soft solids. I'm doing really well if I set the timer on my phone for 30 minutes and space out my portion accordingly. I usually wait between 2-3 minutes per small bite. I'm doing tuna fish, meatloaf, moist chicken and as long as I chew well I've been ok. My problem was I went to a restaurant for the first time and with talking I didn't pay attention and I took too big of a bite and didn't chew enough. I must say I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day but today I was fine. This is a huge life change! For the better but still need to practice.

    Vomiting

I am 3 weeks out from DS. I vomited today for the first time. I know I ate too fast. I still feel nauseous and I don't want to eat anything. Can only get 4 ounces of my shake down where as yesterday I could drink the whole thing. Is this normal?? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.
  21. Hi! I am 17 days post op from DS. I am having nothing but diarrhea at least 3-5 times per day. I am not eating anything fatty at all. I am using skim plus in my shakes. Could I suddenly be lactose intolerant? Help:(
  22. iammomof3

    Loose bowel movements?

I think the milk was my problem. The lactaid has really reduced the diarrhea. My nutritionist doesn't want me to start fatty things right away. I need to gradually introduce them into my diet. I should be having 3 servings of fat per day (butter, salad dressing, cream cheese, etc). Does this sound about right?

    Loose bowel movements?

Thanks!! My nutritionist said to do skim plus. I will ask her about that on Monday. Ok. I will try the 2% lactaid. Hopefully it will work

    Post surgery finally

I just got home Saturday. I didn't think I would need the Percocet so I waited too long and it was difficult to get my pain under control. Feeling stronger every day! The contrast for the swallow test was disgusting! Best of luck for a speedy recovery.
