JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
FairySleeve replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose pretty slow too, I was sleeved on 7 July 2014 so far since surgery I lost 28 lbs (around 45 lbs total) last month I only lost 7.7 lbs but it's fine by me. Now the pattern of losing is pretty steady, The weigh stays still the same for 4-5 days then drop around 1-2 lbs. at first I was worried but now I get used to it. Before surgery the weight stay still for 10 days before dropping and I could lose only 4.4 lbs a month only. I'm satisfied with the results now. But what is bugging me now is the clothes in the closet are pretty baggy on me but I don't want to buy new clothes just yet because I now am between sizes. Most of my clothes are size 16 only a few are 14 that I kept. A few weeks ago I fit comfortably in 16 now even 14 is loosing but I'm not sure if I can get in 12 yet. I don't want to get upset if I go to the store and try on but cannot fit in the 12!!!! -

Is the rest of your family eating better
FairySleeve replied to honeybunz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I don't have kids but my husband seems to be careful with his food choice especially for dinner. He now adds more veggie to his meals (I don't cook for him since we got married because we eat different things, he's French and I'm Thai) and he doesn't eat carbs for dinner just like I did pre-op and post-op. He's lost around 13 lbs since my surgery haha -

I really like this one, that you can stay the same size of of clothes for so long, never happened to me since I was 25, in the past 13 years, I went up from 38 to 48, Now it's moving downward, one size at a time. now I'm satisfied in size 44. My goal is staying in sizee 38-40. -
What a great thread and inspiring to read!! I'm only 8 weeks post op and 45 lbs down, there're a lot of small NSVs but the following are what really please me;- - Last week I was be able to walk around on high heels again, only 2 inches high but boy, my legs look great!!! - My blood pressure is down to normal (120/80) and off the meds. - This is a bit embarrassing but for the first time in years that my weight is lighter than my husband lol

50 kg!! wow! Congrats!! that's actually the amount of weight that my surgeon aimed to get rid of me the first time I saw him and he only gave me 6 months!!! I lost 8 kg (pre-op) and I was sleeved in July 2014, so far I've lost 12.4 kg post-op and total 20.4 kg. I think I'm a slow loser, this month I only lost 3.5 kg, but I'll take it :-) I guess my surgeon might be disappointed a little because he expected me to lose around 5 kg per month but I'm very pleased with the results. I have 33 kg to reach my doctor's gold and 37 kg to my goal and I'll try my best. For you it's only 25 Kg to go! Keep up good work!! Cheers!!

Tell me your FAVORITE post op 'meal' **regular foods**
FairySleeve replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about to be 8 weeks out and I find that veggetable go down easier with my pouch. So most of my dishes is very simple, protein and veggies. Only for breakfast or lunch that I'd add some rice or japanese rice noodle (Somen). My favourite dish would be Somen summer salad with sesami dressing which I make for lunch only, I also add mango in the salad, so yummy!! For dinner is more simple, like roasted chicken with salad. And of course, the size of the portion is as big as the size of my phone hehe -
Keep it!!!! I love the back and you look lovely in it!!

Spicy foods question
FairySleeve replied to honeybunz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh.. spicy food.. I'm Thai, so just imagine how craving I am for spicy food. Just recently (7 weeks out) I added a few drops of Sriracha sauce or sweet & sour chilli sauce for chicken in my food and had no problem with it. Still don't dare to go for the fresh chili though. -
Sip Sip Sips or Swallows?
FairySleeve replied to mick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just 7 weeks out and I can drink normally now, just take a gulp and stop a bit then continue. I can finish half a liter of water in 20 minutes, which I think it's good enough for the moment. -
I agree with Kindle, I told my best friend when I told him after I knew the date of surgery and he was stunned for a second before saying that weight loss surgery sounds so extreme, are you sure you don't want to do it on your own anymore? And I told him that he has seen me through many diets, I lost some and it all came back. I need the surgery to help me as a tool and I want to go out dancing with him again like the old days. Then he shut up all the questions and fully supported me, reminded me to moisturise early to prevent saggy skin lol. After the surgery he came to visit me at home with his boyfriend and brought me a bouquet of white roses. I think maybe your best friend might want to be sure that you really are ready for the journey. Hope you can find the way to make up with your friend. Good luck!

I might have to start paying rent...

I had the surgery 2 days before you and get the stall every week since week 4 but the scale is still moving down of course slower than the first month. I got discouraged at first, but then when the stall started to be the regular lol I just started to appreciate the NSVs, I went to all clothes in the closet, some were totally tight pre-op and now it's loosing. Got a new haircut, try some new makeup and bought accessories. I don't want to but new clothes now, still enjoy the loosing gap between my body and the clothes size 14-16 and even some model in size 12 . I think I might be able to fit into size 12 now but I'm not ready to try the new clothes just yet, I'm still high on this NVS lol. Also please check if you have enough calories intake, the stall always visits when I do over exercises because I cannot really eat more for the portion and I'm too scared of carbs and high callories food. I started to tone up the body with basic yoga & light weight lifting when I cannot go for a walk. Seem like I didn't lose many inches neither at least in the passt 2 weeks but my clothes are more loosing. I guess it just shrinked down into shape. It's amazing how our body works! -
Mental vs. Physical Disconnect
FairySleeve replied to matt1912's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've been losing weight since March until now I've lost around 44 lbs and people are excited about my new look (or old look almost 10 years ago). I think now I have to take sometimes to really digest the reality and how I actually feel about it. I feel GREAT I've lost 44 lbs but I still consider that I'm big for my size. Then I came to think that I USED TO carry the same weight 4 years ago but I never felt this great, so I think what really please me now is the feeling of losing weight, not the weight itself. I started to see myself thin in my dreams, and it didn't surprise me, I naturally recognised that the thin woman in my dreams was me. I guess that's how my mind is adjusting and tuning the body to the mind. Well, it's still a long way to go for me, but at what size ever that this surgery will take me to, I will totally appreciate it. I will always remember how it felt at my peak weight to remind myself to maintain the weight and not to go back there again. -

JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

This is very useful, thank you. I also watch the colour of my urine, during pre-op I used to drink 2 litres of water or more and my urine came out very clear almost no colour at all. Now when the colour is too yellow I know I need more water. My surgeon also told me that the colour should come out very light. I'm almost 7 weeks out and drinking water is quite easier now, I can finish 0.5 litre (around 17 ounces) of water in 20 minutes. On the other hand, eating still must be very slow or it will stuck and painful, you know it well lol. Now I tolerate all food (but still on pretty much the same type of food, eggs, chicken, fish, shrimp, salad, vegetable raw or cooked, rice, Japanese Somen) but I didn't dare eating spicy food like Thai food <<sob>> I think I'll wait a couple of months for that. Last months I lost almost 21 lbs which is great but this month it's been 22 days I've lost so far only 6.16 lbs (stalled a week at least) My surgeon said the average rate of losing is 11-15 lbs per month (after the first month post-op) but I really doubt that I can lost that much. Don't think I can lose 5 lbs in 8 days!! -

Carb-Eatin Sleevers
FairySleeve replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor didn't give me any restriction about carb. Even I told him I don't eat any carb for dinner, he said.. No you should eat a bit of everything except soda, candy, sugary stuff. I just have to make my best choice to feed my tiny portion and so far, I'm very pleased with the result (6 weeks out, almost 26 lbs gone!). -
How has your husband/wife/SO fared during your WLS journey?
FairySleeve replied to MrsSugarbabe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband is very supportive and has been very helpful since post-op. After seeing me lost weight he seemed to concern about his weight (he's not obese and in good health, just slightly over weight) and started to be more careful about food choice especially dinner, he add more veggies to his meals, made Soup for me and eat it together. Just today that my weight is a bit under his weight and he made the sad face and said that now he has to get used to the fact that now I'm lighter than him haha maybe he is a bit competitive. In 2010 we did a diet together in the same period of time I lost 16 lbs and he lost 29 lbs, of course we gained all back but hopfully from now on we both will be more careful on food choice and eating habit. -
not taking protein shakes
FairySleeve replied to aliess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With all due respect I agree with you all that protein is important, I also add protein to each meals but I get it from meat & vegetables, I just don't do the shake, that's all. -

I got it done on 7 July, so I'm only 6 weeks out, my hair is not falling out yet and my surgeon didn't seem concerned. When I told him that I'm afraid of losing hair, he just told me to est a cereals bar which contains Vitamins everyday for snack, again, if it happens in the future, I'm sure he will have to give me the solution for it.
