The only reason i came clean about having WLS is because my plan to come home from the hospital in 3 days and start dieting and exercising but it was not to be.. After a 5.5 month stay and complications I became known around my area and at other hospitals. so it was not an option for me to keep it quiet any longer. So now I am taking it another direction..i am planning on kicking butts for them to get on board with WLS in my area and try to help those who struggle with the issue and the choices out there....I believe that now I shall shout it from the roof top and if there are dumb questions, well so be it..I don't have to answer them... We have an epidemic in our society and a war against big companies who make money off of those who try so hard like you to get somewhere that this is the choice you have made.. I know the pain but you are looking out for you and your family..Head up girl and walk straight...It is going to be a rocky ride..But so worth it!!! :-D Thanks RJ for your spirit, sorry to hear about your complications and I'm glad that you came through it!!I also thought about coming clean about the surgery but this thought came only after the surgery, the doctors and nurses really encouraged me along the way. I was quite surprised that they (for more info--they are French) actually gave me compliments, cheering me up, saying how brave I was to go through this major surgery on my worst days and I thought Wow, I really didn't choose the easy way out! It was painful, I have to turn my life around, It take courage to do it and the most important thing, I decided to take action to improve my life! I probably will come clean about my surgery some day too, and I won't be ashamed about it, thank you. -
July sleevers anyone?

Hi, are you sure it's not your mind playing the hunger game with you? while I was still on IV I was not hungry or thirsty but I felt a bit weird like I was hungry at the hours that I usually had my meals. I guess that's why my surgeon told me to eat at the same hours for every meal and eat slowly 45 minutes minimum for each meal up to 1 hours and stop, wait 15 minutes to drink my Water and stop drinking water 20 minutes before the next meal. I'm not really hungry at all time but my low energy level told me to get some food for the body so I feel satisfied with my every full-liquid tiny meal. The 1 litre of water seems to be more difficult but I try to sip it all day (15 minutes after meal). I've been losing 1-2 lbs per day, I'm still pretty weak but tomorrow I think I'll try to walk around my neighbourhood a little, hope I can meet the 1 month goal of my surgeon in time. (15-25 lbs). -

Hi there, I'm only 7 days post-op but I've actually have some thoughts prepared about this. So far since pre-op, I only told my close friends and family because I knew I'd definitely need their support. I don't think that I'll tell anyone else about the surgery at all, I probably tell them that I have been eating right (which is true) unless that person really need advice like if they've been struggling for weight loss for years as well. The thing is all those questions people might ask, I already asked myself since I was doing the research on the bariatric surgery. The question that I kept asking and asking myself was 'Don't you think that you can do it on your own?' The answer was -- 'probably' but it's been almost 20 years I've been struggling with my weight and I failed. I asked my husband and he said, it seemed very difficult for you. I've been on a diet for half of my life but I kept gaining, I don't regularly overeat any greasy or junk food. I don't graze, I don't snack, I'm not a sweet eater, I eat normally but still be able to gain weight so easily! while those people who are luckier with their normal BMI never did and never will understand what it's like to be obese and suffering with diseases. I don't think I owe them anything to answer their silly questions, unless of course if it could be helpful. -

One thing that seems to stress everyone out is the Protein intakes, which I don't have the same restriction. My surgeon only told me to have full liquid (Soup, plain yogurt, fruit juice allowed only in the morning), small 4 meals on the fix hours and 1 litre of Water. He didn't give me any supplementary diet, no Protein powder, no Vitamin, he told me to eat natural real food only. I would suggest you that if it's really difficult to consume your protein intakes, don't have to be too stressful about it, you still have a long way to go after this stage. -

Aww Jessica, cheer up!! there were moments especially on 2nd and 3rd days post-op that I was actually depressed and told the psychiatrist that I might have made a bad decision but he said, this shall pass, you will get better and it will change your life, The med team was really encouraging, they kept telling me that I did good, what I did was very brave. What you did is very brave, Jessica, it will be better everyday, you will see. Cheers!! -

07/07 here! Today is my 7th day post-op. The operation went well and I had no complication, I stayed 5 full nights in the ICU and I was released from the hospital one night later. I came back home with the better health, no nose running or alergy symptoms like pre-op. Apart from low energy level, everything is going great or even better, I used to be the night owl never sleep before 2 am and now I dozed off at 11 pm! due to the low energy level I guess, The best news is I'm not at all constipated hehe I was allowed to eat and drink on the 4th day post-op and I'll have to be on full-liquid for 2 weeks, now it doesn't bother me at all but we'll see lol. I was sleeved in France so I guess the method of my surgeon is a bit different, such as he instructed me to eat natural food only, no supplementary diet or vitamins -- nothing (should I be worried??? lol) I trust him though, his team performs the bariatric surgery for 300 patients per year (there're total 300,000 patients per year in France). >< So far since the surgery, I've lost 5.2 kg (11.44 pounds) and total 12.9 kg (28.38 pounds) since pre-op diet the beginning of March 2014. -
4 months pre-op I was on the diet on real food (before I heard about the bariatric surgery), after a while I really hooked up with vegetable & fresh fruits. I started to feel differently towards enemy food, like junks, sweets, Desserts. I even didn't want them anymore and didn't feel craving at all for sweets (I'd rather go for greasy food but didn't happen often neither). At the end, I found myself having lunch at a nice Italian restaurant, finishing my salad, my shrimps with a small amount of Pasta (I allowed carbs only for Breakfast or lunch) and watching my brother-in-law enjoying his delicious Tiramisu (I tasted it a little and refused for more) and I felt full, no dessert needed to fulfill anything. I lost 8 kg (17.63 pounds) in 4 months post-op. Now I'm 7 days post-op, the first 4 days, food nor drinks was allowed after the surgery I was sooo craving for my green smooties! I can watch people eating pizza or any greasy food on the TV and feel nothing but when my husband started to eat his melon (which I'm not yet allowed) I felt almost unbearable. I guess this should be the new eating habit that I just discovered just before the operation and I trained myself to be ready for the life time post-op, I just felt good that I truely can admire it (try not to think that I should have tried to eat well before my morbid obesity) and I will continue the regime after sleeved. I lost 4.7 kg (10.34 Pound) 7 days post-op and lost 12.9 kg (28.38 pounds) total in the past 4 months.

July 7th too! I just checked out from hospital today. Feeling a bit terrified to be on my own. (I'd been in the ICU for 4 days post-op). No more pain, only light- headed and tired quite a lot. Hope everyone is doing well too!! ^^
