You skip breakfast? -
I'm only 3 weeks out but by week 2 I found myself--less lazy lol I don't know, I never wanted to do dishes and waited for my husband to do it. I tidy up my closet, my living area. I'm not sure if it's because I'm resting at home and have a lot of spare time or what but it's strange. I hope I still want to be energetic like this when I go back to work. Still have 2 and a half weeks of sick leave. I love that I can go walking in the park for 2 hours everyday. Now I'm feeling pretty much like my own self, no longer exhausted like the first week even I'm living on very small amont of food. I'm pretty convinced now that maybe we don't actually need a lot of food to survive. The "normal" portion of meals probably is even too much and unnecessary?

Question...what has been the hardest thing to deal with post op?
FairySleeve replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 3 weeks out and in the purée stage and it's hard!! Hard to find the tasty purée food that won't make me feel yucky. I'm still eating cream or thick vegetable Soup (no chunk) and Greek yogurt with fuits purée. Only train my stomach with egg or fish once a day because I find it's difficult to get in and I can eat very tiny amount, sometimes is less than 2 tablespoons. Today I tried 2 new things for dinner though, grilled chicken purée with caviar of eggplant, absolutely yummy but still, I cannot finish 1 tablespoon of each. -
Just started week 4, anyone else? Whatcha eating?
FairySleeve replied to sleevenewbie621's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was on 7/7/14 and I will start week 4 tomorrow. Last week I was so trilled with egg (I mixed with Water & milk cooked in microwave, it came out like a pudding) but I could eat half of an egg per meal. Until yesterday I tried scrumbled egg (1 egg) with 1 tablespoon of smoked salmon purée with cream cheese and milk, very soft and it went fine ( for 2 meals). The rest I stick with vegetable soup & yogurt. I tried soft Pasta with salmon in spinach cream sauce purée but It made me sick all day with acid reflux. This week I think I will try tuna purée or rosted chicken purée, hope it will be ok with my stomach. I still eat very slowly and have very small bite at a time, eat 4 times a day and now for dinner I eat only Protein. So far I've lost 18.92 lbs since surgery. It's been a week that I lose only 0.5 lbs per day. Last week which was my 3rd week I lost 3.7 lbs. -
Question about amount of weight loss
FairySleeve replied to Joe David's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon is scary, he wanted to take down 100% of my excess weight (110 lbs) in 6 months!!! I guess I'm doing ok for the first month (I've lost 18.48 lbs - 3 weeks out) but now it's getting slower and slower, not sure if I can lose 10 lbs next month. :-( -
8 weeks out, 34 lbs down and better food
FairySleeve replied to madwife2002's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! seems like you're on the right track to success! I'm only 3 week out, my doctor gave me 5 weeks of recovery at home. Surgery date was 7 July and back at work on 18 August, Thank God! I chose to do this in summer because ithere's less work, so it wouldn't be a burden to other colleagues. My office is cool about it, plus they will get the compensate money for my sick leave from Social Security. -

I guess it's different for everyone, I'm on the purreed stage (starting the 4th week today, Yay!) I can get down only half of 1 scrambled egg with salmon purée even it's very tasty but I really cannot. I eat very slowly with a teaspoon, chew well and wait a little after swallowing to see if it already filled in the stomach and stop at that point. I practically can eat greek yogurt with purée fruit or scrambled egg in the amount of 2 full tablespoons. On the aother hand I can easily eat around 1/2 cup of liquid soup. I don't think the spasm thing is a good sign, maybe you should try to eat smaller bite and slower and drink water a little bit at a time. See if ithe stomach will agree with you. -

Did you feel more satiated/full after sleeve?
FairySleeve replied to Skywalker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just on the 3rd week post op but I'll tell you about the change after the surgery. I have no longer hunger but I know I MUST eat for energy and the amount of food that I can eat is 2 tablespoons. I have sleeved in France so the restriction post-op for diet is a bit different, my doctor said I can eat anything I want but blended. The first two weeks it has to be only Fluid (but I can eat yogurt) then the 3rd week I can start eating pureed food like potato smashed. Oh, yes, but no candies no soda, all sweet stuff. Eat a little at a time (4 times a day) on the fix hour, I'm not hungry but I just eat on the meal time. Eat very small amount and slowly and the most important thing is at least 1 L of Water everyday 20 minutes before and after the meal. After the research I'd done on my own, like you, I asked him about Protein shake and he said, no need, no supplementary diet of any kind is necessary at the moment. He told me to eat only small amount of natural food. Seems like he needs me to get used to my new stomach first and learn that I can live on a very small amount of food Personally I try to eat as much as protein as possible like eggs, purred fish, Greek yogurt with purred fruits, cooked brocoli purred, mainly protein, fruits and vegetable. One time I tried Pasta purred with salmon and I felt sick, so no pasta at the moment. My doctor said I have 3 years post-op to learn to eat right to maintain the weight for life. I guess that at some point the hunger will return, I will be able to eat more than 2 spoons per meal but at least the experience of being obese for 20 years and receiving the second chance should remind me to pick the best choice of food and move my (hopefully smaller) ass to exercise to keep this gift for life. And I know I can do it because during the pre-op I tried the low carb diet to see if I can make it after the surgery (my surgeon never asked me to lose weight before the surgery) and it worked pretty well actually, I wasn't really too strict because I ate small amont of carb only for lunch or Breakfast but not for dinner and I lost 13 lbs in 2 months before the surgery between my first consultation with my surgeon and the date of operation. What's different is I've lost almost 19 lbs in 20 days post-op woo hoo! -
Oh I love your post! It's so true that it shouldn't be a bad thing. We're in the 21st century when we have help from technology for almost everything. Why not as well for the weight loss? Thanks for the positive thoughts :-)

Hi erinwix, we sleeved on the same date, yay! My doctor told me I can start exercising after 1 month post- op but for the past week I walked a lot. Last couple a days I can walk 5k every morning and I lost weight constantly, not a lot each day but still. I'm also on the pureed phrase and trying to make my own pureed with fish, vegetable and eggs, not bad. I think it's tastier than something from the tin can. -

Whaoooo you look Amazing!! Thank you for the inspiration, it works! -
My surgeon also told me to eat slowly and for one meal I should take minimum 45 minutes (except Breakfast and snack can take at least 30 minutes) and I have 3 years to practice this so that I won't gain weight again for life. (Now I'm so afraid of the after 3 years)

liquid phase is depressing
FairySleeve replied to MyHeartOnMySleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cheer up! It will pass. I just started my 3rd week out. The past 2 weeks I went to bed as early as I could so I'd reach the new day faster. Sounds silly but it really helped. It gets better every single day. Courage!! -
When did you start purees
FairySleeve replied to Girly24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me to have pureed on the 3rd week post-op which is today! Yay! I had 1/3 of an egg per meal (egg mixed with mik & water cooked in microwave) around 2 tablespoons and I'm satisfied, I can walk 5k after. I'm now more worried with fiber, I will try to have veggie purée with fish tomorrow. I have 100 gr of Halibut in my fridge and wonder when I can finish it. :-( -

I'm with you on that. I'm tasting a few things here and there. I haven't weighed in a little over a week and am a little worried I may be overeating too. I think it's in our head. When I eat, it's so little really. Yesterday was quite funny, my hubby decided to have a bowl of soup for dinner too but, he was eating in the real bowl, I put my tiny sauce bowl next to his and I was certain that I'm not eating too much lol -

Hi NavyMoM6, my surgeon didn't give any restriction for the food, I can eat anything (natural, no sugar, not processed) but blended well into liquid, but not raw vegetable yet. So I eat soup, yogurt and pureed of fruits 50-70 gramme per meal, for example:- 8.00 - 1 mug of coffee decaf, 2 tbs concentrate milk 12.00 Broccoli cheese soup with cottage cheese 60 grm 12.30 - 1 mug of coffee decaf, 2 tbs concentrate milk 16.00 Mango lassy 50 grm 20.00 pumpkin soup 50 grm + yogurt with strawberry pureed 20 grm no Protein shake, no Vitamins whatsoever. At the beginning, I was worried that I'd eat too little because my energy and sugar level was quite low so I added up to 70 grm also depend on which kind of soup, today I had a difficulty to finish the soup probably because it's quite thick. Yesterday I didn't lost any but today this morning I lost 1.32 lbs Yay! -

My intervention was on 07-07-14. I'm 11 days post-op today and I feel 90% normal especially my energy level. I can walk around and do some work around the house. Still have a nurse come to do the injection of anti blood clots medicine everyday though. 5 more day to go, I eat 4 meals of Soup and/or yogurt with fruit pureed 60-70 gr. per meal and at least 1 litre of Water, In the past 10 days I lost 13.86 lbs and today I just stopped losing, Oh well, still a long way to go, I know, but boy, it's been fun watching the scale in the pass 10 days!! lol I start to fit into my old cloths (1 or 2 size down) it's the fun/amazing part! Boy I stored TONs of them for one day I'd fit into them and now I can see that that day will come! The new sleevers out there, don't be discourage, you will feel better and better every single day!! Courage!! -

Hang in there, you will be fine. I didn't have the second thought pre-op but I did have thoughts like what did I do to myself a few days post-op! I even told my shrink about my thoughts about I have made a bad decision, he just said, I was on the anesthesia and it'd pass, It will change my life in the better way. But after only 6 days post-op, I felt A LOT better, The result started to show quite quickly. Now I'm 10 days post-op and I am certain now that I've made the right decision. Bon courage! I wish you a succesful surgery. -

Eat 4 times a day on fixed hours. At the hospital they served me 1 cup of tea or coffee + sugar for Breakfast For lunch & dinner was clear or liquid soup & plain yogurt & fruit pureed Now I eat only yogurt, fruit pureed and soup. -
Portion of Food, 9th day post op
FairySleeve posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I'm now on 9th day post-op. I'm just concerned about the portion/amount of liquid food (now only Soup and yogurt). I didn't have neither food or drink until the 4th day post-opI started small around 2 tablespoons per meal but the last two days I felt so tired with low energy so I decided to increase the amount to 3.5 Ounces for lunch and dinner, I eat 4 times a day but for the afternoon I eat a bit less than other meals. I'm not hungry. I eat for energy but it's weird that I don't feel the pressure of fullness neither!! Now I'm not sure if I eat too much or not enough?!! > < Could anyone please advice me on this?? I'd highly appreciate it. Thank you. PS. From 1-5 days post op I lost 7.7 lbs, then I lost between 0.9 - 2 lbs per day. So far I've lost 12.98 lbs.
