What's the story behind your profile name?

I really enjoy reading this thread, fun and interesting. Mine, I just love Tinkerbell when I was little, I drew her everywhere I could and I grew up loving all fairy tales. Hoping that my sleeve will have a happy ending like a fairy tale.

    France anyone?

Oh yes, that would be great. I'd love to meet up with you girls. I have it done with Dr. Nicolas Perez at the Clinique du Val d'Or in Saint-Cloud. I loved this small hospital. Stayed there twice, the first time was for the check-up everything in 48 hours. The second time was for the sleeve (5 nights). My doctor is quite busy though, he just came back from a brief holiday and postpone my first post-op appointment to Friday! I haven't seen him at all post-op and today is my 1 months surgiversary! I'm kinda disappointed because I hope that today he'd clear me for soft food. hehe

WLS Success Tip C: Compassion and Change

Thank you for the good thought! Very inspiring. I also believe that compassion is powerful and can change the world. It's the only thing we should practice towards all human & animals in the world.

    France anyone?

Oh Hi!! Palomarules!! Oh so glad you replied the thread! I'm in Montrouge, you know in the south of Paris, near Porte d'Orleans. Glad to hear that your sleeve is doing great for you. I have my first port-op RDV with my doctor today in Saint-Cloud, a bit excited hehe, where did you get your operation??

I have a kind of funny question

It's the Intensive care after surgery, I think it's the normal procedure here (I'm in France). My surgery went well without complication but the medical team put me there after surgery to render my body back to normal condition. My surgeon already told me before surgery that they will keep me in the hospital 5 days post-op, then he gave me 1 month off work. Here in France the Social security pays for the pre-op exams and operation. The employer gets the compensation for my sick leave and my operation is confidential meaning by law, the employer cannot ask what my operation is for.

I have a kind of funny question

Before the surgery I couldn't wait for it! Then during the pre-op I lost 17 lbs on my own (low carb diet) and I actually had a second thought about the surgery. Plus I had to stay 1 night alone at the hospital the night before, I was kind of freeked out. Then in the morning I was alsoo alone when the nurse came for me they dropped some kind of anti anxiety under my tongue before brining me to the OR. So while waiting in the waiting room I was like getting high on the drung, I was actually singing the whole time and then fell asleep. The worst part was when I woke up in the ICU, 5 tubes all over my body. After I saw my husband briefly (I was pretty much on anesthesia) I felt naussea so I pushed myself to sleep then the med team came to check on me every 3 hours, each time they injected insulin, take the blood preasure, inject medicine, check my blood sugar, my temperature. It's been 4 days like this until I kept woke up every 3 hours for more than a week later. 2 days later my psychiatrice came to visit me I actually told him that "You know maybe I made the wrong decision about this" but he didn't take it seriously (he cleared me for the surgery) he said, Oh, don't be silly, you're on anesthesia and pain killer, you'll be fine, it will change your life, you'll see. I stuck in bed for 4 days, the pain's actually gone on day 3 but I sill felt uncomfortable because of the tubes. I told myself, it's goning to be better tomorrow and tried to sleep early every night. Now I fall asleep at 11 pm and wake up at 6 am to embrace the new me everyday. And I think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
  8. I'm so craving for the veggies!!!!!! Only almost 4 weeks out! tomorrow will be my 4 weeks Surgiversary and I will see my surgeon for the 1st rendez-vous post-op. I'm hoping that he will clear me for soft veggies at least!! (fingers crossed).

    Smell and taste

I also have the same change, something especially cleaning product smell too strong for me now. Thank god my husband does all the housework hehe
  10. I never counted calories, it will stress me! As I only eat normal food, no protein shakes or any kind of supplementary diet, I just make sure that I eat enough protein each day, no carb for dinner at all. It worked for me pre-op :-) Plus now I have my tiny pouch it's going well. The choice of food is the key for me, low carb, no processed food, focus on simple protein and veggie!

    progress

Wowm you look fabulous!! Congrats on the progress.

    Ditching the protein shakes

I've been sleeved in France and my surgeon told me I don't need any supplementary diet for now, just eat natural food. I've been on Greek yogurt, milk, fish cheese and egg for my Protein intakes. So, I'm almost 4 weeks out, without shakes, pre or post-op. Not sure if it's a good thing though, just sharing the info. I'll go back for the first post-op appointment on Monday, will see if he will give me any Vitamin or protein supplement.

    Weight down = feeling fat

Love your comment, RJ. Since I've been losing weight after the surgery, my husband never really noticed any change of my body even after losing around 20 lbs (seriously hehe) but today we went shopping for groceries together and he mentioned, wow you walk really faster than before. And for me, that was the best compliment I received. I stopped my meds, my blood pressure is normal, I can move faster! I feel so greatful for the WLS.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

At the beginning I also had a hard time to tell but eating slowly helps, wait until the food passes and when you feel like you cannot take any more, that is full. I learned my lesson lol yesterday I got carried away, eating scrambled egg to fast and the food was like stuck there for a while. Believe me, you don't want that to happen.
