I know there are people out there from MA. Just wanted to start thread here to consolidate our discussions. I'm from Sterling and getting sleeved at UMass in Worcester on Sept 4th.
-
I live in central MA but looking for anyone in Ma to become surgery buddies with. I'm having sleeve on 9/4/14.

I can't say how long the process is. It varies person to person. Depends on how much effort you put into it. If they feel you aren't ready they will keep you seeing the nut until you are ready. My suggestion is to be honest with them and make some life changes. You don't need to lose tons of weight but you can't have a net gain prior to surgery. I would talk to them and explain your time line and see what they say. You'll get a better idea coming from them. Good luck. Keep me posted. Karen

Hi Lisa. We are neighbors. Small world huh?! I'm doing really good. So good I can't believe I had surgery a week ago. The only tuff thing is I do get hungry sometimes and I can only have liquids for another week. I'm definitely sick of drinking so much! But I've lost 12 lbs in a week. So that's great. My goal is to loose 100 total. My journey started in Feb this year. My insurance required 6 month supervised program. I basically went once a month to UMass to see all the specialists. Plus I had a sleep study done which showed I have sleep apnea. Plus I attended 4 weekly group forums. Then I was able to meet surgeon; Dr. Czerniach. He is awesome!! I liked everyone I had in the program. They are so nice to you. You picked a great place to go. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I'm happy to answer anything. Who are u seeing on Friday? Good luck to you!!!!

Since we get sleeved next week I thought we should be on separate thread just for us to communicate. Tell me your story and your date. Then we can support each other thru our sleeve and beyond. Good luck to everyone !!! Mine is on Thursday the 4th.

Sept 3 sleevers?
leapyear replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck everyone!!! I'm sure all will go smoothly for each of you. Hopefully the unjury will go better after surgery. I'm the next day but won't know time until tomorrow afternoon. Ugh:( -
I was told right at the beginning once you have to attend the required "seminars" you had to pay $350 out of pocket for this portion of the program cuz it wasn't covered by insurance. Plus I do pay my normal co pay for other visits with nut etc.

September Sleevers!
leapyear replied to SleevedSharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is coming up so fast I can't believe it. Sept 4th is when I kick this fat to the curb....for good!!! I want to be thinner and healthier and be able to live life a lot more than I do now. My pre op is Tuesday. They said to plan for 3 hours. Not sure what would take that long. Luckily my Dr only required liquids for one day before surgery. I think we should name ourselves Sexy September Sleevers. What do you think? -

Hi Betsy. I'm going the same day as you. I can't believe it's right around the corner. Unlike you I don't have to do liquid diet before hand. My stats are close to yours. I weighed 257 but right now I'm at 243. My goal is 150. They told me that 80 lbs would be more realistic but I want to prove them wrong. Where do you live? I'm from Massachusett. Let's be surgery buddies. -
I have Aetna. Once they had all the paperwork it took them about 10 days. Good luck.

Hi Dotti. I'm having it done at UMass Memorial in Worcester. -
I am currently taking a baby aspirin due to a heart condition. I wax told to stop it ten days prior to surgery. They did say I could go back on them at some point after but they would instruct me as to when. My surgery is Sept 4th. What stage are you at right now?

Way to go Ke-sa!!! That's an awesome amount to loose in first month. Hope you feel better soon. Keep drinking. Can I ask why you didn't go to UMass in Worcester?

Good luck Amazon. Let us know how it goes. Ke-sa; how did yours go? Any issues post op? How's the liquid diet going?

Calorie Intake 3+ months Post Op
leapyear replied to LidiBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is an app that can track your calories and exercise. It's a great app as long as you are entering everything you eat into it. -
I was told 45-60 grams of protein s day plus 64 oz of water a day. Remember if you mix protein with milk count the protein in that too.

Any Massachusett people out there?
leapyear replied to leapyear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I'm going to UMass. Dr Czerniach is my surgeon. Whose is yours. I can't believe we both going same day. Maybe we'll be roommates. Lol. I have Aetna req 6 month process. Can't gain any weight. Went thru all hoops just waiting for 6 month to be over. Where do u live. I'm in Sterling. I've corresponded with Mac man before. I just can't believe we r both on same day and same place. Comfort in numbers. Yes getting more nervous as it gets closer.
