Any Massachusett people out there?
leapyear replied to leapyear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon's asst said if I was going to have a "last supper" to do it a cpl of weeks before surgery. She said that I shouldn't think that I can't ever have certain foods ever again. Said to get in protein first and eat small amounts. I don't have to do liquid pre op diet. Just one day prior. Don't know how I'm going to handle all the protein drinks. I'm not liking them now but know I'll have to tolerate it. Ugh!! -

Wanted: September Sleevers!

Hi Sheri. I just turned 50 as well. I call this my mid life crisis. Lol. Yeah this liquid diet is scary. I'm afraid I'm going to get so sick of drinking the same stuff day in and day out for so long. I don't like any types of Soups so that limits my choices. I've been trying several types of Protein drinks. They are tolerable but not great. Ugh!!! On the bright side I did buy some Quest Protein Bars and they are yummy. So they will help when I get to that stage of the diet program. Good luck to everyone. Keep your eye on the prize. I can't wait to be skinny again. . Lol -
Where can u find these bars?

Can't believe I'm doing this....this is my mid-life crisis . So I finally got the courage to start the process of WLS on my 50th birthday. I'm so excited but scared at the same time!!! Due to insurance req I have to go thru supervised weight program for 6 months. I thought it was going to seem like a year but it's flown by cuz of all the appts I've had to go thru. Now I only have one month to go. I just got my surgery date of September 4th. I'm soooo psyched!!!!! I'm doing the "skinny dance". Can't wait to be able to do more things with my family that I just can't do now. So I was hoping to connect with people that will be having sleeve surgery around same time so we can support each other. Also I live in Massachusetts. Is there anyone out there from MA?

I had so many visits with the nutritionist, the main dr, an excercise specialist, and a psych person. Plus I had to attend a wkly forum for 4 weeks that included discussions on nutrition, excercise, medical and behavioral. Then of course I met with the surgeon. Plus cuz of my issues I found out I have sleep apnea (took another 3 vists to him) and have to have upper GI this week bc of acid reflux. So all together I've had 18 appts. But over all I don't mind any of it bc I know I'm headed down the right path to becoming a healthier and happier person. The time really did fly by. -

Hi my name is Karen. I live in MA. My tentative date is Sept 4th if all goes well with insurance approval. I shouldn't have any probs though. Luckily I don't have to do liquid diet pre op. I've been on a 6 month program all along. Can't wait to see how we all do. This will be both scary and exciting. -

Hi macman. That's where I'm going. So many questions for you. Which dr did u have? How was your post op experience? Any complications? How much have u lost?
