@@4grands, I have started eating Atkins frozen meals. They vary in Protein content, but most have about 26g of protein. Atkins also has the coffee drink with 15g of protein. If you are not eating enough calories, you will not lose the weight. Hopefully you are tracking your calorie intake. Also weight training helps with losing the lbs. Make sure you get in about 100g on days when you weight lift so you can build the muscles to burn off the fat. Reading other posts here it appears some people reach their goal weight after 1 year. Just keep doing the right things and the weight will fall off. I wish you all the best. -
August post op sleevers: Check in
Galaxy Girl replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Fellow Sleevers, It is good to know everyone is doing good. Please remember this is a work in progress. We will gain here and there and lose it. My surgeon did not give me a goal weight. I set my goal for a size 10. I am almost there. I do snack and drink my coffee every day. I drink a cup of coffee a day with 2tbs of creamer. I use myfitnesspal to track my intake; therefore, my Snacks count. When someone offers me a snack I use myfitnesspal scanner to check for calories etc. I do portion control as well. Rather than having a big bar of twix, I go for the mini size. I exercise 5-6 days a week. My nut said to eat 1200 cals a day. On days that I do weight training, am able to eat 1200 cals. I eat minimum of 100g of Protein a day. I wish everyone the best. This is a life style change. -

Hello Everyone, I hope all is well. All is well at my end. I am so happy I had this surgery. My goal was to be a size 10 and currently I am a size 12 and the clothes are snug on me. My body fat % also keeps going down; I started at 52.4% and now am at 41.7%. Which is one of the numbers I am keeping an eye on. My visceral fat rating (fat around vital organs in the stomach) is now 8; from 15. My degree of obesity was 83.8% when I started and now it is 37.7%. I have been doing strength training 3/wk. I do not have any lose skin! Yay!! I am able to wear short clothes. My thighs are firm. As I stated before, I am not focusing on my weight. I am healthy and feel it. I am happy with the way I look and I have been getting lots and lots of compliments. Happy Easter to all and good luck on your journey! -

Dry Hair, Hair Loss, Too Slow Weight Loss
Galaxy Girl replied to BarnGirlWK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@BarnGirlWK, I will give tracking a try. Due to all the exercises you do, I have a feeling you are probably not eating enough and thus the body is probably in starvation mode. Hope you figure something out. -

Dry Hair, Hair Loss, Too Slow Weight Loss
Galaxy Girl replied to BarnGirlWK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@BarnGirlWK, everyone's body is different. I had my surgery in August 2014 and have lost 41lbs. I maybe weird, but I am happy with the slow weight loss. I prefer not to deal with excess skin. What is your caloric intake? If you are not eating enough, the body will go into starvation mode and hold on to the fat for dear life . In addition, are you losing inches? I have gone from a size 20 dress to a size 12 dress. Also it is beneficial to do some strength training at the gym. Good luck! -

Galaxy Girl replied to melissa'sjourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wore spanx three weeks out. Just make sure they are not too tight. -
@@Elode, similar to @@ChavaBling, I add the seeds to greek yogurt for my evening snack. When you mix it with the yogurt, make sure to eat right away before they expand. I do not chew, I swallow them. I started taking them 1 year before my surgery and continued 1 month after the surgery. They digest easily than flax seeds. Good source of Fiber and Protein.

Why am I freezing?
Galaxy Girl replied to Marielbx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am freezing due to anemia. I am now taking Iron tablets. -
It happened to me after surgery. I ended up in the ER and there was nothing wrong with me. Come to find out, I was not eating enough calories. It stopped when I increased my intake.

@@Marielbx, getting the water in is not easy. Get a water bottle and take with you everywhere you go and remember to sip frequently. Good luck!

@@Kelly Avery Licht, do you track your intake? I use myfitnesspal to track my intake. I eat between 1000 - 1100 cals a day because I exercise 6 days a week and lift weights. It is difficult getting my calories and water in. I eat 6-8 times a day so I can get my cals in. If you are getting in enough and you feel like eating then you may have to learn mindful eating. You can also join a support group. Good luck and well done on your journey! -
Upper Arm Flabby Skin
Galaxy Girl replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think with the 'bat wings' it would be there even without weight loss because as we age, the skin loses elasticity. How is everyone doing with the weights. I lift weights 3x a week. I meet with a trainer 1x a week to work on upper body. Good luck to everyone. -

@@Martene81, as @@BLERDgirl noted, everyone's journey is different. I am losing slowly, no hair loss, no complications. This site is a great place to get information. However, my only advice is, to always check with your surgeon and Nut with any questions you may have. Good luck! -

@@MyssJones, how are you doing with your Protein. You can meet the protein requirements by eating foods high in protein. Chobani plain greek yogurt 15gms, 2oz tuna 16gms, hormel turkey chilli 1/2 cup 12 gms... just to give you some examples. Protein is very important. -

Upper Arm Flabby Skin
Galaxy Girl replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@BitterSweet*, you are absolutely correct! I researched and it appears lifting weights helps you lose and tone faster than cardio. I started lifting weights two weeks ago. I am loving it. I am not sure about the flabby arms though. On the veterans page, people had surgery to tighten the arms. I have decided not to do surgery. I will just avoid wearing sleeveless...lol.. -
How do u get ur protein?
Galaxy Girl replied to culmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chobani plain is 15g, 2oz tuna is 13g etc. I look for foods high in protein. Jennie O turkey patties has good amount of protein too. My NUT said 1oz of meat = 7g of protein. I am 3.5 months out and take a minimum of 100g a day. I use protein Isopure protein powder 1x day, gives me 26g of protein. Good luck! -
I am 31/2 months post op and lost about 35lbs. As@@BaseballMamma, losing super quick leaves you with a lost of excess skin. You are doing great. Keep up the good work! Also, gastric sleeve patients lose slower than gastric bypass.
