August post op sleevers: Check in
Galaxy Girl replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello All, Looks like most people are doing good. I am doing good as well. I do not weigh myself. I weighed at the doctor's office. I am focused on body fat %. The weight at my doctor's office calculates bmi, body fat %, muscle mass etc. I see some people are not allowed red meat. Likewise, I am not allowed starchy carbohydrates for 6 months. Everyone's program is different. I plan to stick to my program's rules. Overall, I am happy with my progress. I prefer weight loss at a slow pace so as not to deal with excessive loose skin. My primary exercise is 1 mile on the elliptical machine about 4 times a week. Wishing everyone a happy week. -
Has everyone out there lost hair post op?
Galaxy Girl replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read on a thread here that MSM and biotin help with hair loss. I got sleeved about 4 weeks ago. I started taking both last week, so I cannot say if it works. -
My surgeon did an EGD after the sleeve while I was under. He did a leak test too. Not sure if the leak test is the same as the EGD.

@@GenaH, it will get better. I weigh myself once a week just for the fun of it. I don't worry about the weight. I know it is difficult and we are anxious for the weight to fall off, but it will eventually fall off. -

@@GenaH, you are not doing anything wrong. If you read and research about the sleeve, stalls are bound to happen. Some people stall for 3 weeks or more. My NUT did not lose any weight 3 weeks post op. I was also sleeved the 28th. My clothes are getting loose on me, so I know am losing somewhere. Everyone's journey is different. You have to focus on your journey. Trust me, the weight will fall off. Just keep doing what your doctor told you to do. All the best! -
Any suggestions for calcium supplements?

@@mskiesha29 I use the Costco brand every day and it has kept me regular. Any generic should work well so long as it has the main ingredient. With Miralax it takes about 2 - 3 days to get the bowels moving. Good luck! -

Ladies, ladies, let's be patient; the weight will fall off. About 75 - 85% of the stomach is gone, so the extra weight has no where to go than down. It is important to get in enough calories so the body does not go into starvation mode. Cuz when that happens, the body holds on to the fat for survival. Weight loss with gastric sleeve is slower than gastric bypass. I weigh myself once a week. I do not worry about stalls because it is part of the journey. So relax and enjoy the ride. Next year by now we will all be looking sexy and hot. Lol...lol.. have fun losing the weight. -

@@Karen Scott, you have lost 20lbs since you started the journey. That is great! The weight loss with the sleeve is a slow and patient process. My NUT did not lose any weight 3 weeks post op. They found out she was consuming only 400 cals/day. 4yrs later, she looks great and did not need surgery to take off excess skin. Personally, I prefer the slow weight loss so that I do not have to deal with excess skin. Just focus on getting better and allow your body to heal and adjust. Good luck! Ps: If hearing about other people's weight loss bothers you, limit visitation to this site. Weigh yourself once a week; pick a weigh in day. Have a realistic goal. My goal is to lose 1.5lbs - 2lbs a week. -
