Hey! Sorry..I haven’t been back on here for awhile. They said they didn’t have proof that I was compliant with my band. Once I wrote a letter explaining my 3 year struggle with the band along with documentation of visits to the surgeon’s office they finally approved it. My new surgeon told me that 3 out of 4 people aren’t successful with the band, and his office doesn’t even do them anymore. I was supposed to have the whole surgery done on March 19th...when I woke up from surgery, I found out they removed the band but couldn’t complete the bypass without approving a different procedure since the blood vessels had been tied off on one side of my stomach. So I’m going back in on April 2nd and they can still do the RNY, but on the part of the stomach they usually just staple off, they are going to remove. They had to make sure insurance was ok with the change of plan. I hope you are approved right away! Not throwing up everyday this week since it was removed has been amazing!

We are on the same timeline...liver shrinking diet starts 3/5 and surgery on the 19th! Good luck!

March 19th...revision from lapband to RNY. Originally denied by insurance when I was given a surgery date February 12th. Fought an appeal and won!

HOW many calories?!?!
jlj1110 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used to always get the Big Mouth Bites (4 burger sliders with a few onion strings) at Chili's before starting this lap band journey. I looked them up a couple weeks ago and they are 1,790 calories and 111 grams of fat...and that doesn't even count the fries that come with it! I'm so glad now to be aware of what is going into me and keeping track of it daily. -
MyFitnessPal is great for that!

Lapband with plication

You aren't a loser! This is just the beginning for you and you have to start changing how you deal with food. Find something else to occupy you when you are hungry and bored. Does it help to drink water or crystal light throughout the day to help you feel full? I'm sure once you get your first fill your hunger will go down. Hang in there! You will be successful! -

I went to urgent care today where they took X-rays, nothing broken, but I have a right sprained ankle and they are worried I might have torn a ligament in my knee. The doctor gave my a prescription to get a knee brace fitted tomorrow. She wants me to at least give it a couple days to heal before trying to work. I really wanted to be there for the first day of school, but I can barely walk...My husband has to help me walk anywhere. On a better note, not feeling pain from surgery today...of course the pain from my knee could be drowning it out! -
Congratulations! Good luck with it!

So I passed out in the hall today. I got up from the bed too fast and started feeling lightheaded. Usually I'm fine just hanging onto the wall while it passes, but today my legs must have just given out. Thank goodness I didn't hurt my stomach area, but really sprained my right ankle, hurt my left knee, and busted up one of my toes. I am being very careful now anytime I get up! Now I can barely walk just as I was getting better. So stupid! Glad things are moving through better! -

I was feeling a little better today until I passed out in the hall. I'm really afraid I screwed up my knee because it really is killing me! Of course now it hurts to walk, and I have felt weak all day. So mad at myself for not getting up slowly this morning... Be careful everyone! Hoping for a better tomorrow! -
I got a big estimate/Bill like 2 days before surgery showing what my put of pocket cost would be..I thought at first I was going to be expected to come up with it to have the surgery. It showed like $3300. When I called a little freaked out, I was told I could make my payment to my dr office which I had been told from the beginning would be around $550. After that, the rest I can set up a payment plan. Maybe they would be able to set up a payment plan for you?

Have you looked at the lapband with plication? The band is placed and then your stomach is folded in and stitched closed. Kind of creating a sleeve without removing part of the stomach. I just had this done on Monday, so I'm not the expert by any means, but maybe this is something you might consider.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am 4 days post op and not feeling well at all. I have no appetite and nothing tastes good. I'm trying to walk because the gas pains still there. Just glad to see others getting past this and feeling so much better! I have to go back to work on Monday...first day of school for me and don't want to miss. I did tell them if Monday doesn't go well then I might need to take a couple more days. Just hoping I start feeling better over the weekend. Have a great weekend! -

Today was a little better. Made myself drink a lot more water, and had some beef broth. I know I need to get more protein in, but the taste of things is off. I did have a BM yesterday so at least I have that going for me! Hope you can say the same soon! -

Hope it didn't make you sick! I'm not feeling like eating anything yet. The protein shake tasted gross to me today, and I was only able to have a Popsicle. Just anxious to get past this and start feeling better! -

@@planningband07 How are you feeling? Hopefully better! Had my surgery yesterday....went well. I am hurting a lot more from the gas pains in my upper body than incision sites right now. It was hard to get down even Water yesterday, but feeling better this morning. Will try a Protein drink today, and do some more walking around the house. Sure am looking forward to being healed and able to eat and exercise normally to get this weight loss going! Have a great day! Jen -
So I just got home after being banded about 5 hours ago. Just want to know if the pain I'm feeling in my upper back and chest are gas pains? There is more pain there right now than my incision sites. They aren't chest pains like short of breath/heart, just a constant ache. I'm sure the answer to this is somewhere on this forum, but just wanted to ask instead of digging through...not feeling great... Thanks!

@KD55000 Congratulations! This site has been so helpful, and actually your post helps me since you are three days ahead of me! I would suggest you go to the main forum and click on "Start a new topic" and post what you put here. That way more people with waaaayyyy more experience (like these other ladies who replied here) can chime in! That is how I have learned the most. I would like to keep in touch to hear how you are doing! Take Care- Jen

Thanks everyone! I will definitely ask doc about pain and problems, but just wanted to see if those were areas to even have gas pains.

Thanks!
