Hi all. I'm currently on month 3 of my pre-op process. I have to be weight monthly to show the insurance company 6 months of weights (I have emblem HIP prime) my first weigh in I was 276, 2nd weigh in I was 281 and not somehow I've sky rocketed to 289. The surgeons office initially told me not to gain or lose more than about 7 pounds. I have basically almost doubled that. Has anyone been denied for weight gain during the 6 month process? I don't want to weigh in at 289 for august so I'm going to try and drop some weight but I don't think I'll be able to drop 8 pounds with only one week left in august. I started birth control again after 8 months of not being on it and I feel like that has something to do with the weight gain. Help!!!! I do not want to be denied I'm so stressed out about this.

Yesterday I went rogue....

hey all, my doctor said no straw because you suck in air and it will expand your pouch and stretch it, what do we think of this? I use ONLY straws now, I cant get water down any other way, I don't see post op being any different, any feed back would be awesome, im deathly afraid of stretching out my stomach. -

Hi all. I started the process for the surgery in June. My insurance requires 6 months of weights- that puts me on track for a November surgery. The office I went to the coordinator said I shouldn't lose or gain more than about 7 pounds from now until the surgery. I'm a little concerned about this. I want to eat healthier and I don't necessarily lose weight easily but I'm worried about losing more than 7 pounds. I have about 150 pounds to lose and can't do that on my own so I definitely need the surgery. Will I be denied if I lose more than 7 pounds. Like let's say even 10. Shared Experiences welcome!!!!

6 month pre surgery questions
dommie20 replied to dommie20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all. I did speak again with the bariatric coordinator at my surgeons office and she said it's important I don't lose too much or I'll be denied. So I'm trying to maintain this 278 I'm at right now. I have emblem health. I'm so nervous about being denied!!!! -
Hi all. My aunt is 55 and inquired about the surgery to her general doctor since I am having it. I'm 28 and he basically said to her he wouldn't recommend it since she's 55. I know people that are older that have had it. Is this normal??? I think she should totally have it. She definitely qualifies. And can anyone recommend a good surgeon in the ft lauderdale area? Thank you!

6 month pre surgery questions
dommie20 replied to dommie20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all. Thanks for your input. It's not the 6 month wait I'm concerned about. I'm worried about the weight threshold I would like to eat a healthier cleaner diet but if I lose too much weight the insurance company won't approve the surgery. I have emblem health. 6 months will fly right by and it gives me Time to really process what I'm doing and prepare myself for what will be a huge life change so I'm ok with that but two weeks before surgery I have to be on all liquids and then I'll have a new stomach and new eating habits. I would like to try now to sort of work myself Into that way of life but if I lose too much I won't be approved. Maybe I should talk to the surgeons office again. -

6 months before surgery question
dommie20 replied to dommie20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yea I agree! I think my BMI is like 49 so I definitely have some wiggle room. She said the insurance will see I lost the weight and that means I can do it on my own and they will deny the surgery. I need this surgery so I don't want to do anything to put myself at risk for denial. 2 weeks before the surgery they will put Me on an all liquid diet and I don't know how I'm gonna go from one extreme to the next. -
