I guess I will go. My name is Jenna and I live in West Monroe, LA. I am 28 years old and married. My DH is planning to get banded as well. I have one beautiful daughter who is 6-Jordan. I have two Yorkies who are part of my family as well-Reeses and Snickers(can you tell my weakness?) Anywho here's the pic. It's of me and my brother at my recent 28 b-day bash.

For those who got banded this week and last
pippinje replied to ronwifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok my turn.....I was banded last Friday 03-07-08. I was wondering if you guys are still on pain meds? yes....when I need it, which is usually after I exert myself too much. I am one of those who can't stand to stay still. what are you guys drinking and how much Water, Protein drinks, Special K protein water, gatorage G2 Are you all hungry yet? No not really. Only around meal time and I eat a little and then I am satisfied. Do you have bandages over your incisions? yeah...the clear ones the surgeon put on which will dissolve themselves. When are you guys allowed to shower? yup. Was told to shower 24 hrs after surgery and to shower regularly. Was told to wash incisions with soap and water. How do you guys sleep? I sleep on my side with a pillow under my belly for support or on my back with alot of pillows under my head proping me up. Do you know when we can sleep on our side? I would say ask your surgeon, but I already am....however, I don't move alot in my sleep so I tend to stay where I fell asleep. Hope this helps. -
I have a little. It's just farily light which suprises me since I tend to bruise easily. Guess my surgeon was on a roll by the time he got to me. I was his third for the day out of 5.

Cindy and Cheryl are the co-ordinators for us Louisiana pateints, so no I don't think I met Carmen. I met alot of people though on my trip to Dallas, so I wouldn't count it out though. Out of the whole trip, the people at Dr. Maese's office (the cardiologist) we the nicest people I have ever come across in a Dr. office. All were very caring and worked extremely hard to get my DH sleep study scheduled last minute since Dr. C canceled the surgery until it was completed. We arrived at their office at 10:30 and at almost 5 and the whole time they were continuously on the phones working to get it taken care of and a c pap machine ordered for him to be able to take home. THEY WERE WONDERFUL and when I am ablt to get out and about I am going to pick them up a thank you card. The second memorable person for me would have been Eric, my RN at The Surgery Center of Dallas. He was wonderul and caring. Explained everything and even called to check up on me today. Besides the hiccups in my DH surgery, my experience has been pretty enjoyable......except for the gas! To hell with the gas. LOL

Yikes. The picture alone is enough to make me have this surgery. LOL

OK. I figured I wouls squash my fears and post a pic of my tummy showing the incisions 3 days post op so those who haven't been banded yet can see pretty much what it's going to look like. There are 5 small incisions.

Gas makes me cheesy.

Whimsy, Glad I am not the only one who has 5 weeks of full liquids. Mr. Hamn and Cribbins orders must be the same.

I like cheese.

Fenton, I was worried about not taking in enogh fliuds so I have been drinking gatorage since the surgery. It is a god send. They have the G-2 which is diet friendly. Check it out. Those electrolytes keep you hydrated! Now the toilet thing....did that the day after surgery!!!! I was grateful I could. :smile2: Keep partaking in those fluids!!!!

Ditto on the sore throat. Not too bad that I needed anything for it though.
-
Thanks Fenton. Right back at ya! :smile2:

My DH used it for the first time last night and he said he only got up once in the middle of the night vs. 3-4 time prior to using it so I guess it is working.:smile2:

YES!!! The On-Q. Get's it the way and a pain to sleep with. I tend to take it off my neck everytime I am at rest, because my neck starts cramping. LOL I guess my mom was right. I was begging her to take it out early (because she is a nurse) and she said you probably don't know how much it is doing for you. So guess I will wait until it is empty! :smile2:

Have you ever PB'ed a ladybug? :smile2:

Congrats to everyone who was banded while I was away. Feeling a little sore and HATING the gas. My surgery center gave me this pain pump kinda thing that has a numbing agent in it that I hand over my neck and is implanted in my surgical site (kinda like an IV). I am suppossed to take it out in 5 days, but it is really a nuisance. I hate the thing. They also gave me this thing that I have to suck and get the lever to a vertain leverl every 2 hr about 10 repetitions to strengthen my lungs from being put under. I also have to wear these wonder knee highs for 5 days to help with avoiding clots. My surgery center took every possible precaution which is reassuring. Anyway, I don't feel much like eating but I am trying to get enough liquid in to avoid dehydration. DH wasn't able to get his surgery. The surgeon was worried about his sleep apnea so my husband had a sleep study done and is on a cpap for treatment and then he should be a go for next week. How is everyone else doing?

The gas has been killing me and I am a little sore. I don't feel much like eating at all, but trying to force myself to get enough liquids in. Other than that....playing the waiting game.

Excited!!! Definatley excited. Surviving the liquid diet and just anxious to get it over with. Leaving for Dallas today! Wish me luck!

Tomorrow is the cardio work-up and then surgery Friday. I wish all you guys who are having surgery tomorrow and Friday good luck and hopefully I will be able to update you guys on Saturday.

Well...I can't say the same. This liquid diet is for the birds, but I am sticking to it. I am beginning to think that I am not taking in enough, because I feel drained. Oh well....I am going to tough it out!

I am 2 days in my liquid diet and I have to admit this sucks. Don't know if I am eating enough or too little, but I feel drained. Ready to get this surgery over with.
