DH and I are being banded together next Friday. Anyone else?
-
Andi you read my mind. I was thinking the same thing! Frances, bring whatever YOU are comfortable eating. Everyone else isn't limited , just you are so I would bring to satisfy yourself. It's tough hon, but we are here to support you!
-
I typically speak my mind when it comes to people I know, so if she makes a big deal about it in front of everyone then say this was a medical decision between you and your doctor, not a moral decision. Hopefully she will get the hint.

Thanks for the update. Hope Utah is doing well. it is really hard to grasp an understanding of a situation without all the details. Best regards. -
Juli, That is so sweet of you to come give us hope and encouragement during "bandster hell". It really helped cheer me up after going to my two week post-op appt today and being told "Yes, you have to be on liquids for 3 more weeks." I could have cried. I know in the long run 3 weeks is nothing, but considering I have already been on liquids for 3 weeks, it is getting boring, monotonous, and I want to actually chew something. LOL. Thanks for being a sweetie and giving us newbies words of encouragement. Jenna

I got to the surgery center at 9:00 am, was scheduled for 10:30 but they were running late and someone else went back at exactly that time. Can't remember what time I got back there(happy shot lol) maybe 12ish because each surgery takes approx 1.5 hrs and you are in recovery for an hour but I remember looking at the clock when I was leaving and it was approx 3pm.

LOL. Gotcha. I have found myself using the statement "please consult your surgeon first" alot lately after reading what others have put for "advice". Does get really annoying.

Who, what, where? I wanna know!!! I need some drama. I am bored at home since I am still out on leave.

I once won a grammy for my role is "PB and me".

My surgeon was Dr. Cribbins in Dallas, TX. I responded to your pm with extra info. Let me know if you need anything else.

Christine, 14 lbs is great. I haven't noticed a drastic difference in energy. but I started walking two days ago and I will begin slowly working my way up to a mile and then further. The walking definately gets my energy up. Then again my monthly visitor is visiting (sorry guys) and may be the culprit with bloating and lack of energy. Keep up the good work! :mad2: Jenna

Hmm....wonder if I could order General TSO chicken that way.

Yes. It's normal. Make sure you are taking your pain meds. I needed the assistance for the day I came home and the day following. In time it will pass, I am 8 days post op and there is still a slight tugging in my port area. Nothing that I need pain meds for though and only when I am trying to get up and down. They say it usually disappears in approximately 6 weeks (could be more, could be less). Welcome to band land!

No one has said that. I think people are just questioning because you haven't really given the complete story. Why is the the doctors fault? How do you know it's the doctor's fault? How do you know it was an "old band" and what do you mean by that? If it was a slip, couldn't it be just that, a slip and no one's fault? We are just trying to get a better understanding of the situation and why you feel this was the surgeons fault. If it was a slip and needed revision, yes I would go back to my surgeon. We aren't trying to say you are wrong for your feelings utah, we just need more info. Good luck to you. -
I would say this is the right place for removal or considering removal. I might go to the complications forum for revisions. Just MHO though. Good luck!

I used Dr. Cribbins in Plano. He is very nice and caring and goes the extra mile for you. He has great bed side manner. I have heard wonderful things about his partner Dr. Hamn as well.

Going for a walk.... -
I would just add, when in doubt, consult your physician.
-
It's their first post, so they probably haven't gotten a chance to feel out the forum yet. I would definately try to get back to Kentucky. Something scared me about the fact that you have had all these infections in your port area. I would have a barium swalllow to make sure everything is ok with your band. Thant's just my opinion though. Good luck!

I feel bad cause I've been bad

Let me start by saying if you feel ok, then you should be fine. but if your worried about it, speak with your doctor. It is very important to stick to the liquid diet your surgeon has given you. Eating anything solid after surgery causes your stomach to start doing it's job (digesting) which causes movement and since the liquid diet is meant for healing so that your band is healed in place properly by stitches and scar tissue, it's important to follow. You made a mistake, owned up to it....so move forward and gain a new determination that this is only temporary and you CAN DO THIS! My doc has me on 5 weeks full liquids. I just take one day at a time. If you feel like liquids aren't enough, talk to your doc. Happy sipping! -
