Anybody else losing slowly?
alwaysvegas replied to Albinofrog's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It varies. Mine lasted a month. -
Not getting much in
alwaysvegas replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon didn't provide you with a diet plan with a list of recommended foods, liquids, calories, etc.? That's disturbing. Here are the phases provided by my surgeon: http://www.360bariatrics.com/360-process/bariatric-diets/ Good luck! -
Warm congratulations for your fantastic success!!! Shopping for clothes is so much more fun now!

What was your prescribed diet post-op day 5?
alwaysvegas replied to LeeRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of people went to purees right away based on their surgeon's directives, but you should always follow your surgeon's directives. It's likely your head hunger is trying to win the war again. Hang in there and you'll get through the liquids and be on purees. Best of luck to you! -
Anybody else losing slowly?
alwaysvegas replied to Albinofrog's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Losing 5 pounds a week is slow? You're doing fantastic! And as @@HighHeelShoes said, you might be on the dreaded three-week stall/plateau that most of us hit. Just keep to the eating/exercise schedule and you'll do fine! And don't knock yourself by comparing how fast other people are losing. Congratulate yourself for how much you have accomplished! -
Struggling 15 day liquid diet
alwaysvegas replied to bella7984's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Remember that fat is stored energy, so you will not starve. The head hunger can be really bad, but it will be over before you know it and then you'll be on the other side. Don't tell yourself you can't eat something...tell yourself you're choosing not to eat something. The power is all yours on this! Best of luck! -
Getting ready to start!
alwaysvegas replied to courtcourt90's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try to make as many healthy lifestyle changes pre-op as possible (reduce calories, stop carbonated drinks, cut carbs, eat lower fat, etc.). It will make your post-op life much easier. Good luck! -
Should I Start Juicing or Have Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
alwaysvegas replied to Short N Sweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If juicing were the miracle solution to permanent weight loss, then the gastric sleeve would not exist. -
Possible sleep apnea?
alwaysvegas replied to katiemcfaddenVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sleep apnea will actually help you getting approved with insurance. Sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening comorbidity and is exacerbated by obesity. I had sleep apnea going into surgery, so no worries. Good luck! -
It could cause your surgeon to postpone your surgery if your liver is still fatty. Our head hunger is a difficult battle and you'll still have to face that battle post-op also. The pre-op diet is very important on many levels, so try and stay on track. Good luck!

I still enjoy food, but not with the same urgency I did pre-op. I eat about every two hours and enjoy eating, but I can easily forget to eat if I'm really busy.

for those already sleeved
alwaysvegas replied to erose321's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel exactly the same physically. When I first start eating it feels the same too...but a few ounces later and my BFF, my sleeve, feels nice 'n full. -
Hi all. Starting my journey.
alwaysvegas replied to chopsitter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Biggest congratulations on your WLS choice! I think you're going to be delighted with the results! -
I started weight training months before surgery. Combination of core nad largest muscles and cardio.

really struggling
alwaysvegas replied to eyhornmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being satisfied on 4-5 oz of food post-op has been much more rewarding than being stuffed on 4 cups of food pre-op. I can't explain why it is, but it is. Best of luck! -
Tunaaaa noooo..........anyone else have no no foods
alwaysvegas replied to robertweisman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tuna filled me up very quickly when I went to solids. Ended up sliming more than once after eating it. I've never had foods that caused me nausea or diarrhea though. However, if something doesn't agree with you, come back to it a few months later. Most people's tolerance increases over time. Good luck! -
Endoscopy question
alwaysvegas replied to smilingsarahjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They're looking for ulcers, gastritis, GERD, or any other abnormalities in the stomach. I had gastritis. Not a showstopper. Yes, it's nerve-wracking, but it's a very important procedure for your safety and sleeve success. http://www.asge.org/assets/0/71542/71544/19212DA8-AE13-4C03-9D06-CA06204E864D.pdf Best of luck! -
Best decision of my life!
alwaysvegas replied to KellyJ1121's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations and I wholeheartedly agree with you! Best choice ever! -
Had first appointment
alwaysvegas replied to perk4756's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations!!! Very exciting journey! If you're not familiar with these items already, ask about: surgeon's complication rate...leaks, etc. pre-op requirements..length, diet type, etc. hospital length stay. Recovery time for returning to work, cardio, weightlifting, etc. post-op phased diets Start making lifestyle changes now...decreasing caffeine, adding exercise, lower calories, quit carbonated beverages, etc. The more you lifestyle changes you make pre-op, the easier the transition is post-op! Best of luck to you! -
Protein Supplements?
alwaysvegas replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love Protein powder and shakes. I add the powder to pudding and even coffee. I gave up the Protein Bars because they're either high in carbs or the sugar alcohols cause some heinous flatulence. I'm going to experiment making my own. -
I find me loving myself more often.
-
LOL! I love that.

A single doughnut almost broke me
alwaysvegas replied to snickysnack78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As everyone has said...move on. Just like before surgery, everything we stick in our face is our choice. The same as before the same as after. We had to find a balance between eating healthily and exercising. The same as before the same after. It's that ol' devil called "head hunger" that we gotta contend with. But remember that there's nothing you can't eat. It's still a choice...your choice. So don't think of it as "I can't eat a donut." The truth is, "I choose not to eat a donut." That way of thinking helped me tremendously. I hope it helps you as well. Best of luck on your journey! -
Always nice if you have someone to share with. Otherwise, ask for a "to go" container right away. There will be leftovers.
