help! I'm new
agirlnamedfrankie replied to leilani741's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Her whole blog is great but here's an extensive list of "pantry essentials" (and they link to recipes she uses them in) that you could make a list from. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/09/eggface-pantry-essentials.html -
I just pudding sf chocolate

A SF Jello pudding cup with 60 calories is 3.25 ounces. http://www.snackpack.com/products/low-calorie-snacks.jsp -

agirlnamedfrankie replied to vbm510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you mean like a Jello Snackpack size cup? Those are 3.25 oz. The new bigger ones are about 5.5oz. I think the powdered, instant boxes make about 2 cups so if you made one of those and ate nearly all of it, that could be around 14.5oz. -
August Sleevers Check In
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here, johnsydney. I lost a bunch in the beginning but then went almost two weeks without any changes. It's frustrating to be eating so much less and not seeing any changes but today, the scale finally moved again. There's an entire forum section dedicated to stalls and one around the 3 week period is pretty common but somehow, it's way more frustrating when it happens to you. Hang in there! -
I just got some PB2 and mixed it with my Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle, a little milk and some ice cubes. SO GOOD.

Bariatric vitamins
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Waiting4Sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get everything from Amazon Prime because it's magical. I'm taking Centrum chewable multivitamin, NatureMade B-12 sublingual, a liquid Vitamin D drop from Seeking Health and then went with the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewabes (in caramel, not bad). -
Does anyone regret it?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to gruiz27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Kadirkara, I think that what you're experiencing is fairly normal. I read every "do you regret it" thread I could find before surgery and a lot of people said they regretted it in the beginning, sometimes up to three months, but that after that, they'd definitely do it again. I keep reminding myself of that when I feel regret. I'm only three weeks out but I already feel tons better than I did the first week so hang in there. I also wasn't even supposed to start protein until a week out so maybe your stomach just hasn't been ready? Can you drink other liquids? You might try unflavored protein powder in that. I just ordered a tub of Unjury brand to put in my drinks and purees as I'm growing tired of the shakes. And living alone might be a benefit - then you don't have to be subjected to the delicious smelling actual foods that other people are eating! -
STUCK TOO SOON
agirlnamedfrankie replied to supercomik's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery date was 8/6 and I weighed 266. By 8/17, I was at 251. Since then, aside from a brief one-day drop to 249.5, I've been at 251. 11 days! I'm taking the most logical route at this point which is to assume my scale is broken. (I know all of the actual answers by heart now but it's still so annoying!) -
August Sleevers Check In
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That part was cake. I laid down on the surgery table and that was a little freaky - they strap your arms down, out to the side. But then the doctor said something like "have a nice nap!" and boom, I was gone. I don't think it was even 30 seconds later. And no mask before that. Then it was two hours later and they were waking me up. Easy peasy, don't worry! -
August Sleevers Check In
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man, I am craving cottage cheese like crazy (weird because I never cared about it one bit) but I'm 2 weeks out and not supposed to have it for 9 more days. Oof. -
Strange question.... (menstruation w/ surgery)
agirlnamedfrankie replied to snowkitten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I read a few other posts from women who had theirs during surgery and it was no biggie. They were nervous but the surgeons and nurses have seen it all and don't care. I did read that you have to wear a pad and not a tampon but I think you should be just fine. -
iv hand swollen
agirlnamedfrankie replied to jdillon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happened to me as well. After two days on the IV, my hand swelled up and my arm got really hot and painful. The nurses shrugged it off. Fairly sure it was phlebitis. The swelling went down eventually but the pain stuck around until I started using a warm compress on it and now it's dissipated quite a bit and will hopefully disappear in the next couple of days. -
Between supplment meals....snacks?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to vbm510's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my plan, I was allowed a shake for each meal and if I was still hungry, I could have broth, SF pudding, jello or apple juice. But everyone's plan is totally different so hard to say what your Dr wants. Do you have written materials from him? -
Vitamins making me hungry
agirlnamedfrankie replied to ashleyxoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about the hunger bit but I was told not to take the multivitamin andc. Alcuin at the same time as the calcium prohibits the absorption of iron. Maybe trying spacing everything out a bit more? -
Types of yogurt for full liquid phase
agirlnamedfrankie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I graduate to the full-liquids phase, woohoo! My info packet says that for the full liquids phase (2 weeks for me): Is a milk based diet which includes foods that are liquid or semiliquid and high in Protein, like cream Soups made with non fat milk, yogurt, fruit shakes with non fat milk. I'm starting to look at some yogurts and see that the Fage and Chobani plain have 7g sugar/carbs and anything with flavor has 14-15g of carbs and Dannon Light & Fit has 7-9g of sugar/carbs (but with flavors!). Although there are no guidelines listed in my packet, I'm assuming that I should be keeping low on the sugar here, right? Plain greek yogurt is pretty brutal for me, although I know I can get some of the flavored syrups and use that but the Dannon sounds okay. What types of yogurt did you eat early on? How much sugar was okay and did you have any reactions? -
I'm only 8 days post-op but I've definitely had my moments. What's helped most, honestly, is the number of threads I've read on here where people have asked if anyone regrets their sleeve. Lots of people said they did the first couple months but once they got through that, they felt like it was the best decision they'd ever made. So I'm just trying to hang in there and know that it might suck for awhile but that will pass and then it should be great!

August Sleevers Check In
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering about blending...but wasn't sure how that would be different than purées which I don't start for another two weeks. Just that the consistency is thinner? I strained my soup to remove the chicken bits because I wasn't sure blending was okay. -
August Sleevers Check In
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mostly good. I don't have any pain but I am exhausted beyond belief and have mostly been spending days on the couch. I'm sure this is thanks to 8 days with no calories and I'm hoping that the full liquid stage will perk me back up. I had more energy directly after surgery and the three days after which is good because I had to travel home. We'll see! Good luck tomorrow. I know you've been anxiously awaiting your date! -
Types of yogurt for full liquid phase
agirlnamedfrankie replied to agirlnamedfrankie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tips, everyone! I had a few thoughts that maybe some sugar would be okay since I'm certainly not getting any other sugar throughout the day but then I was worried that that was old me sabotaging new me with justifications. Good to know it's not. I picked up a variety of yogurts today to try. -

Today's my first day of full liquids as well and I'm having low fat cream of chicken soup for dinner and OH MY LORD IT IS SO DELICIOUS. Crazy what just a few weeks can do for perspective. -

Shoe size!?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am really, really hoping this happens to me! If I could lose a size, it would take me from a freakishly-large-only-available-online-or-in-crossdresser-stores size 13 to a size 12 which is at least a size that actually exists. -
AUGUST 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
agirlnamedfrankie replied to orlando's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 6th. As of this morning, I was down 10lbs since surgery, 17 since my 5 days of pre-op. I am pain-free but insanely weak and tired. I'm on Clear Liquids until tomorrow but actually had a Protein shake yesterday and today to see if that would help (not really). I'm looking forward to moving to full liquids and hopefully getting some energy. As it is, showering is about the biggest task I can handle which feels super lame! (Also jealous of you who are moving to purées already. I've got two weeks of full liquids before those start. ) -

Drain or no drain?
agirlnamedfrankie replied to Nancysgastricbypass's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No drain for me and I wasn't outpatient either.
