My name is Richard and I am from El Paso, TX. I have been overweight since I can remember. I at one point was 445 lbs. I have done every diet in the book and even hired personal trainers and was unsuccessful in majority of those encounters. I started thinking about doing surgery to help myself. I eventually went to meet with a doctor who convinced me to give it a shot.

I started the process in November. Sadly I had some real life challenges that popped up preventing me from meeting with my dietitian. I was required by insurance for 3 months of supervised diet. After the first appointment in January I started changing my eating and by the time April 28 rolled around I had lost 21 lbs.

I got approved for my surgery May 15th and was then scheduled for surgery on June 30, 2014. I worked for the hospital (IT Department) so I knew everyone in there. I was scared for the fact my doctor could cancel my surgery if my liver wasn't good enough. I was all good after I realized I was waking up in recovery with pain.
