About Me
I have always been a dreamer, and want to travel the world. I lived in Germany to attend school for 2 years, and spent the better part of a year working in Central America. However, traveling and doing the things I like to do were becoming more cumbersome. I always figured I would "lose the weight someday", however, nothing I tried really worked. I saw the photo that was taken on my birthday in May 2014, and knew I had to do something about that. I had several physicians tell me over the years my best bet was surgery. So, after 10 years, of going back and forth on it, I jumped in with both feet. I had my first appointment with the weight management program the following week, and there were lots of hoops to jump through, but I showed I was motivated and dedicated quickly enough. My surgery was scheduled for the end of August.
Most of my family is unaware of the surgery. Instead of dealing with potential negative attitudes, I decided to couple my dieting with an extensive work out program, and was very public about working with a personal trainer, going to Zumba 4 times a weeks, and trying out other classes along the way. Not only this helping me to lose weight and make me stronger, but I'm able to do more and am, consequently, more active.
