January 2015 Buddy Group anyone?
Murphysraven replied to time for june's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My sleeve surgery is tomorrow at Puget Sound Surgical Center with Dr. Billings. I'd love to connect with other starting their journey or long time sleevers for support. -
I am currently in an appeal through Cigna. The plan covers surgery but I was denied for a "pre-existing condition" but it was explained to me the reason why I was denied is that I did not have medical coverage before being added to my husbands medical plan. They will have to pay for it eventually so I don't get why they are making it difficult. My experience is that with Cigna you have to keep checking in an basically hound them to get updated information, they take their sweet time with approvals and giving you updated information. I've been seriously considering Mexico because I am tired of their shit.

So I just got the news that CIGNA is denying my WLS due to a pre-existing condition. I am not aware of having any pre-existing conditions unless they count being obese. The surgeon and program I am going through checked to make sure I was covered before I started the 3 month diet and appointments with NUT/ect and cigna didn't say anything about a pre existing condition then. I am confused and upset. It feels like medical insurance will do anything to not cover what they say they will cover. The doctors office is trying to get more information for me to see if we can fight it. I am pretty frustrated right now. Anyone else have this issue?

I have cooked eggs (scrambled) in the microwave at work in a tupperware or pyrex container. Trick is to still every 15 sec or so, only takes a few short nukes and stirs to cook all the way through. I add a little milk or Water for added steam moisture. Other ideas are hard boiled eggs, yogurt, or making up a scramble with meat and bits of onion and pepper the night before and reheat at work.

Weight loss? What weight loss?
Murphysraven replied to Kindle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Skywalker. You are following a diet plan. You don't have to mention WLS but you are being completely honest with stating you are focused on getting enough Protein, drinking enough liquid and watching your portion sizes. I am preop but following a stricter diet that is more in line with how I will be eating post VSG. I am already losing weight and if people ask I just tell them I am following a plan through my nutritionist. Which is true! -

I do want to start attending some of the local support groups. If people on here are interested in meeting up in person or even online, chat or VOIP (like skype calling) I'd be down for that too. I'm still trying to find local clothing swap options as well. Maybe if we get enough interest the meetup could also be a small clothing swap. I am guessing my current clothes will be serviceable for several months yet as I will not have surgery until the fall and they are a little tight right now. -
Psychological Testing
Murphysraven replied to KristenLee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My evaluation was good. Along with making sure I really know what I am getting into with the surgery we talked about other aspects I might run into when losing weight. The dangers of addiction transfer and how my relationship with people might change along with my relationship with food. We even discussed how to handle questions about my weight loss and how to approach negative opinions from people who might not understand (if I decided to tell them I had WLS). The only tough part of the eval was the questions about my background. Issues from my past that I though I was totally over came to light and I was surprised how much they still effected me. I was advised that it might be good to get additional counselling in that regard to help me overcome those negative feelings. -

Hello, new here. I'm in kirkland. Doing my surgery through Dr. Billing from PSSC in Edmonds. I am pre surgery and currently on the supervised diet. I hope to have surgery sometime this fall (sep or oct) if my insurance goes through ok. Any other PSSC sleevers here? how was your experience? I know there are meetings with PSSC once a month but would love to know of other local groups. Does anyone know of clothing swap groups? I don't want to spend a bunch of money on clothes as I "downsize". I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of 2nd hand stores and places like Ross for those in between sizes.
