    Christian bandsters

Well today was surgery day. It took about 45 min. and the Dr. said everything went perfect. I got a little sick during recovery but the nurse was quick with the meds. Dh got me home and settled in and got to rest pretty good. I had to take pain meds 1 time today but might take some before I go to bed just so I will sleep better. I am very sore but for the most part feeling well. I want to sincerly thank all of you for the kind words and the beautiful prayes. I felt everyone of them and God is truly amazing. I had a bit of an emotional time last night but got past it because I know He is in control and will take of me. I will keep you all up to date on progress with everything

    Christian bandsters

I am so excited that this thread was started. Amy I will also be having my surgery this Wednesday. God bless you during your surgery and I pray that everything goes well. I also prayed a great deal about this with my husband before the decision was made to do the surgery. I want to be a healthier mom and wife. We have two small children 4 1/2 and almost 3. I have put all of this in God's hands. I found out a friend at church had lap band done in July 06 and has lost 75 lb.s I couldn't believe it God put us in each others path so that we could support each other. We even are using the same Dr. God bless each of you on your journey's and prayers for those of us with upcoming dates.

WHo has used Dr. Marsden in Hurst, Tx

Dr. Smith and his staff are wonderful....I will be banded on Oct 24. I am very excited. Yes when I went for my psych she told me about the support group and yes they are only offered to his patients. Dr. Fuerra is in the same office and he is the one that did Dr. Smith's lap band surgery. Dr Smith banded his nurse Susee and one of the psychiatrist....she is the one I met with and I can't remember her name. A friend of mine at church used Dr. Smith and her surgery time was the same time mine was set for (different dates just same time) at 7 am and she was going home at 9 am
  5. I saw that you guys are also using Dr. Smith in Fort Worth as well. He is awesome and his staff is wonderful....I am going to be having my surgery on Wednesday Oct. 24th. I am very excited....Would like to keep in touch with you guys to see how progress is going for each of us.

    Nerves

Ok my surgery is 9 days away.....and I am so excited about becoming a bandster....lol.....but I am also starting to question what I am doing..... am I doing the right thing....I am chalking it all up to nerves and I assume that is what it is and everyone has experienced this......let me know how you dealt with this
  7. Renewedhope I am also having surgery on the 24th of this month. I had to go on a low carb preop diet for 2 wks...I am thinking though that these last couple of days I am going to do liquid just to get back on track and also try and prepare for after surgery.

    Lactose Intolerant

Not sure where I should have put this but it is going in this forum. I had my gallbladder out in 2000 and every since then anytime I eat greasy food or food with dairy it causes stomach issues and TMI I end up in the restroom. What do you do for this problem after you get the band if it continues to be a problem...I know that I won't have to worry about greasy foods but dairy is a concern to me....Can I take the lactose pills that come over the counter or will this problem go away.

    Surgery in 12 Days

I am also having surgery on the 24th and very excited. I am also from Texas...I have heard the norm for lifting things is about 3-4 weeks. Although my girls are 4 1/2 and almost 3. Where are you having your surgery done? I am on a 2 wk low carb diet....not that bad...Good luck with everything

    Lactose Intolerant

Maybe that will make the difference when I switch to completely non fat dairy. I will be banded on the 24th of Oct. I didn't know if the gall bladder had anything to do with me having this issue I just noticed it to be more prevalant after I had it taken out. It is funny that you ask about the Mediterranean area....I had a nutritionist ask me the same thing when I was preg and had to get blood sugar down. I do not have any connection to that area however....funny though

    Lactose Intolerant

My question for those that are lactose intolerant......do you notice the problem diminishes after you get the band or do you still have the same amount of trouble when eating anything dairy
  13. I had gall bladder surgery in 2000 and the lap band surgery is somewhat similar both being laparoscopic....I also sleep on my side, my stomach and my back,.....ok I am a tosser. i admit it....but after 2 days sleeping on my back it hurt so bad that I started sleeping on my side/back but using the pillow in front of me as support...

Anyone use Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth?

He will be doing my surgery on Oct 24th and I am very excited. I chose him for many reasons but also because he has the lapband and the other Dr. in his office is the one who put it in...also there are several in his office that he has banded...he also does only lap band....so there is no concern that he would try to persuade you to getting gastric..I did all my preop appts this week and started my low carb diet yesterday.

Sherri my family and I live in Alvarado and moved from Arlington a little over 2 yrs ago....we wanted to get back to the country and small town. It is very nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you and get lots of valuable information before and after my surgery.

    Adding protein shakes

I have a question regarding protein shakes...I will be banded on October 24th and we all know how important it is to get your protein.....once I am able to start like mushy foods introducing solids can I have a protein shake for brkfast in place of a meal....or when can I start the protein shakes.
  18. I would have much rather used my insurance I just didn't want to wait another 2 yrs (which is what they required)....we took out a loan for $15,000....but for what I get in return with better health it is so worth it
  19. I will also be banded on October 24th....Good luck to you....I have had gall bladder surgery and my Dr.'s office said that this was much easier than that....I thought my gall bladder surgery was very easy....and not much pain at all....
  20. I also am self pay.....my insurance would cover but they wanted 2 yrs of medically supervised diet.....I didn't want to be fat and a health risk for 2 more years....I pd....$15,000 and that is everything from pre-op consults to the suregery and everything that goes with that....plus all of my aftercare and 1 yr of fills. I will be banded on October 24th and very excited.
