I take a daily probiotic per my doctor. They said Culturelle is the best for it. Its worth a try but doesn't always work perfectly. Good luck -

Google telogen effluvium. It is directly related to out new diets and our surgery. It can be very individualized. My shedding is finally lessening and I have tons of "baby" hairs now. It was pretty scary some days. Hope this helps

I have finally made it!!!!!!!! I couldn't be happier. I fit in normal chairs, I can reach my feet, I can pick stuff up off the floor!!! I feel amazing and hope to see my goal before my first year is up.

Try and do the reboot diet. They have info on it in the veterans forum. I did a modified version of it after the holidays because the sneaky little carbs were coming back with a vengeance. Remember to always do your Protein first and drink, drink and drink. Good luck.

Surgery and Travel...how soon can I travel after surgery?
old_rn replied to twil1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No sickness but I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks post op and that did cause some bathroom issues. I had some tiredness also the first couple of weeks too. I went on vacation 5 days post op but it was all on my time. I could rest when I needed and use the bathroom when I needed. I am not sure I would have tried Europe even as good as I felt. But you know yourself best and you should also ask your surgeon what he thinks. He might not want you going so far away.Good luck and glad you got approval -
When does it get better?
old_rn replied to lizzie_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give yourself some time. You just had major surgery. The key to liquids is a little bit really frequently. No big drinks just almost constant sipping. You will find some liquids go down better than others. Some people like warm and others cold. Just experiment gently. You will be tired for a week or two. I went on vacation for a week to the mountains at 5 days post op but it is all very individual. Every day you are closer to a thinner healthier you. You go this -
Very interesting. I hope you are doing well in your weight loss journey. Surgery really is about changing your life in a drastic manner for your very survival

So happy for you!! I can honestly say this has been one of the best things to ever happen to me. I am sure you will feel the same. I just wish I had had insurance to help with the cost. I paid it all out of pocket. Oh well I feel better than I have in years. Good luck on your journey -
Looking good!!!

Who is scared to give up food?
old_rn replied to smile121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 5 months out and you can have those foods you want eventually. I don't eat a lot of those things because I choose not to! I like how I feel, I can do so much more now and the gratification I got from food doesn't compare with my new freedom. I eat out, I work fulltime, I have a family, I cook....I do all the "normal" things I just have a tool that makes it easier to make good choices. I have never mourned food because I have found that it is like an ex-husband, you don't miss it when it is gone and wasn't worth your time anyway. I hope this helps calm your concerns a little bit. -
I am just so glad to be able to "see" my lady bits again it doesn't matter what they look like

Transformation Tuesday! (with pictures)
old_rn replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WAHOO!! Nice waist  -
Thank you Elode. I haven't taken measurements because I didn't want to know. I also have no pictures so sometimes I feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants. I wear scrubs daily so it is really hard to tell about how my clothes fit too. I can't really see my weight loss with my eyes but I do know that I wore 3x at my HW and can now wear an xl with room to spare. I might have to do a little measuring to brighten by day.

As a nurse I know that caffeine is a diuretic so I have made the choice to only drink decaf. At my clinic you can't count caffeinated drinks for your overall liquid intake so by drinking decaf I can count my 24oz of coffee in the morning in my overall liquid intake. As far as carbonation I was told that the bubbles can cause stretching and if you have hiatal hernia repair at the time of surgery it make burping even harder. So I have no interest in even trying any.

Why can't I just stop? (Eating until it hurts)
old_rn replied to Desi1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a problem with speed eating and getting overfull because my brain didn't get the message until too late. My RD told me about an app for my phone. It is called eat slower and you can set a timer for between bites. I found it very helpful and it reminded me to put my fork down between bites and to chew the food well. I also use children's plates and silverware. I don't seem to eat nearly as much or as fast. Still a struggle sometimes though. My sister who is 6yrs out does it all second nature. I am still waiting *sigh*
