Whenever I stall, I discover I gavn't been taking in enough protein or water.

I backed out on surgery 3 times. I was ready this time and have lost 70 pounds since July 1st. It's not always easy...but boy is it worth ii!

I had my surgery July 15th. I never took pain meds after leaving the hospital and am embarrassed to say I havn't begun exercising. As of today, I've lost 70 pounds. I may be able to avoid knee surgery and am off cpap and only take 2 meds. Sometimes I miss being able to pig out...but I feel so much better. Bought my first new outfit last weekend and found myself between departments...lol. most plus sizes are too big and most regular 18s are too small. What a wonderful problem for a former size 26 to have! I'm not hungry and my biggest problem is getting in enough protien and water. When I don't, I stall. I am experiencing hair loss from not taking in enough protein, but would gladly wear a wig the rest of my life, to feel this good! Remember your body cannot process the amino acids in protein without some fat in your diet. I've added some coconut oil to my diet in hopes of reducing hair loss. Another thing to remember: the day you had your surgery you were reborn. You are a baby. Don't expect to eat what the grownups eat. Give your body a break and take it slow.

My husband is a classically trained chef. We moved to the Kansas City are from rural Kansas 3 weeks post op. Sometimes I miss being able to pig out, when something tastes terrific...but I'm never hungry so that helps, And I find nyself satisfied with being able to eat a bite or two. I chickened out on surgery 3 times. The first 2 weeks post were tough, but I could feel huge imprrovement daily. Now I'm 10 weeks post and 60 pounds lighter. Glad I had the courage this time, Courage... “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” ― Dale Carnegie -
Rough bout - nearing 4 weeks

I got over my cravings a weird way. I chewed a bite and spit it out. Nothing tasted the way I thought it would and most cravings have ended. At first I couldn't sit at the table when others ate...now it doesn't bother me at all. I've found I can eat a bite or 2 of almost anything 10 weeks post surgery. It's amazing to never be hungry! Now I'm 60 pounds lighter and loving it! -
I've discovered that I stall if I don't take in enough protien and water. I gain weight when I get dehydrated...guess my system just hangs on to every drip, When I start a proper water intake, I usually lose the gain plus a little.

I am 8 weeks post op. I need to eat very small bites and turn them into mush before swallowing. I can eat almost anything, but pork. I carry a fish fork with me to slow me down and take small bites. Guess we have to remember we will always have a smaller stomach, When I forget and wolf down a couple of bites I really suffer.., and its dificult to figure out when I'm full. One extra bite can be a killer. My doctor said it would take at least 6 months to fully heal and learn to eat again. We are learning to eat all over again, like a baby. But, it's worth it...I'm down 60 pounds!

Amazed at some day one or two post op recovery stories

The first 2 weeks after surgery weren't much fun...but every day I could see drastic changes in my improvement. I'm 2 months out now and kinda wish I could still have such drastic improvement. just settling for 2 pounds a week. I've lost 50 pounds...so no complaints!
