Looking for 7/22/14 surgery buddy
evanslaura79 replied to tfowler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly, the fluid intake alone keeps me so full I don't want much else. I'm really worried about how I'm going to get in enough protein. Has anyone tried the 42g protein shots? -

Dulce, don't let them get in your head. Those are the same people that offer us second slices of cake at family gatherings. They don't understand our relationship with food is very different. You can do this, we have your back girl! For lunch I made cream of chicken Soup and strained it. Then I set my timer and sip one tablespoon every 15 minutes. Seems to be holding down pretty well @@tfowler -

I am still on clear liquids too. The nutritionist at the hospital said that's all I am supposed to be having until day 7. I'm drinking flavored Water beef and chicken broth Popsicles mostly. I am having left side incision pain to the point of not being able to stand up completely straight. Hopefully that will resolve in the next few days. Aside from that I'm doing pretty well. I'm glad you are too! -

I haven't had one either ginger. I would imagine the pain meds are constipating some. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the hollow feeling followed by a spasm of some sort. I can't tell if it's in my tummy or esophageal since I also had the hernia repaired there. -

Good morning ladies, this is my second full day home. I waited a bit to post because I was not feeling well and not in the mood to post anything nice . The day following surgery was difficult for me. I was very Nausiated and threw up everything I tried to swallow. Between that, the gas and the incision pain, I was in bad shape. Today is my best day thus far. I am not hurting from the incision sites, and I'm able to drink pretty well. I sip Water, isopure and sobee sugar free water every hour. Three good sips of each. I am feeling a lot of rumbling in my tummy and an occassional sharp pain right up the middle. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good. How is everyone else? -

I have had two dreams about ice cream. My younger daughter works at an ice cream shop and comes home covered in various flavors and occassionally bringing them home and stashing them in the freezer. I think that May be a contributing factor. I'm getting a little nervous but I am determined not to get myself worked up enough to cancel my surgery. I know this is the right choice for my health so I'll work through the nerves. -
What are you telling people?

I have only told a select few. My mother, however, has told everyone with an ear. I guess she is excited for me -
Nutibullet or Ninja
evanslaura79 replied to mentalistfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the nutribullet and I don't like it for shakes. It leaves clumps which completely turn me off in a shake. I am going to buy the Ninja. -

The brand is spiro-tein, and comes in a ton of flavors. 14g of protein, slightly on the low side so I mix them with skim milk and that adds 8g. They are very tasty and under 100cal. I won't be using these unless I am in need of a flavor change. I like unjury chicken flavor too. -

I found some interesting flavors at Smoothie King of all places. Has anyone tried those? -
Experiences with Phentermine?
evanslaura79 replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I have also tried Phentermine. It works great for a while, then suddenly not so well. It will curb your appetite and make you clean the heck out of your house . I lost all my excess weight with it, though not in a healthy manner. When I stopped taking it, the appetite and the weight i'd lost returned with a vengence, AND brought 30 pounds extra along for the ride. -

I did my preop testing on Thursday of last week.Is it just me or is everyone at that hospital extremely nice? I'm not complaining, it's just a very different experience than I've ever had in the past. I hope surgery day they are as cheerful. I was told dr Kim is an early bird and begins surgery as early as 4am. I won't be that sweet at 4am! I've ordered a ton of protien powder samples and I'm going to try them out in various recipes this first week so I can get my mind wrapped around meal planning for post op. I have to travel for business at 16 days post op. That has me slightly unnerved as the diet is so restricted. I am planning to pre ship supplies to the hotel to make sure I'm armed and ready. -

I am going to read the booklet tonight when I get home regarding recipes. I will need to change things up a bit to stave off boredom. I will buy the pb powder you mentioned. I love Peanut Butter, so that would feel like a treat for me. I like to spoil myself, hence the weight! Dr Kim, at first I was a little off put by his candor when we met. However, my attitude has since changed. Sugar coating my issues would not benefit me, and our conversation made me take a hard look at what I am doing to myself with food. He was right and I needed to accept that. I have read some less than kind comments regarding his bedside manner, yet stellar reviews regarding his surgical abilities. I would rather have a fabulous surgeon. Leave the bedside manners to the nursing staff We can walk the halls together. I will try to get a picture up today. -

I am scheduled with Dr Kim on July 22 as well. I was so bad this past week. Knowing I would be starting my preop diet sent me into a tail spin of " Better taste it while I can". Anyway, I am starting my diet today although I am not required to begin until next Tuesday. I feel like I need the extra week to practice and get myself ready for the lifestyle change.
