2 days further out than you from surgery... Sounds like we're in same boat as far as being tired of liquids. Today, I tried two things that were probably too soon according to the dr. I pureed some tuna, light mayo, and sweet relish earlier. (My directions said I could have tuna after week 2 so I was a little early.) My stomach told me I wasn't ready for it so I won't be doing that again till approval. Later in the day, I minced up some salsa really fine. I had just a couple teaspoons of it and have to say it was quite good and a good change of pace for flavor. My stomach was fine with it. I think I am going to have my mother make her gazpacho recipe and bring me that on Monday if possible. Of course, I will have her mince the veggies down as much as possible. But, I'm the same way, need something different. I will also probably have her make some homemade potatoes when she comes and mix something in with them to add flavor. The instant potatoes are getting quite old as well.

Salsa/Gazpacho in semi-iquid phase?
PlzCoolerMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The lack of flavors during the semi-liquid phase is really getting to me right now and trying to think of anything that might help. I'm 5 days post-op and just tried a little salsa after I pureed it even more and the first bite just went down fine. As long as I get veggies crushed down (and my sleeve doesn't signal me otherwise), this seems alright doesn't it? Or is there anything really wrong with my thought process here? Thx -
This will probably annoy many of the "preachers" on here, but, I had a golf tournament the weekend before my surgery this past Monday. I drank a ton of beer on Thursday night and a modest amount on Friday along with not following the pre-op diet to a T. It was basically as I envisioned... There is the "perfect world" vision that the Shrink and Nut give you that say "Absolutely No alcohol", then there's what actually happens in the "real world." I did ask my doctor ahead of time and he was a little more in line with the "real world" stance.

Was just sleeved on the 4th. At home now and things seem to be going fairly close to normal. 1. Waking up after surgery really does suck. All I wanted to do was sleep to get away from the pain, but, they really wouldn't let me and it pissed me off. 2. All the gas is crazy. Between burping, farting, hiccuping (which is uncomfortable) I wasn't really prepared for this part of it. 3. I feel like I could eat a little normal food now and be ok, but, I know it wouldn't be good for my new stomach. Very tough to resist and I'm already tired of liquids only.

Is gatorade ok right after surgery?
PlzCoolerMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just sleeve'd 2 days ago. I thought I had read somewhere that Gatorade was fine and included as a "Clear liquid", but, now I can't seem to find it. I can call my doctor tomorrow morning, but, just thought I'd see if any of you knew for sure since I have a purple G2 on hand and it's sounding pretty good. Thanks. -

G2 or regular? I don't drink the regular, but, I thought G2 was supposed to be minimal sugar to none? -
I had a similar question a week back as my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Here is the thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/315277-drinking-alcohol-post-op-your-experiences/

Drinking alcohol post-op, your experiences?
PlzCoolerMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 31 years old and have basically done whatever I wanted (within reason) whenever I wanted since mid-college. I'm self-employed in the financial industry so I have been able to take off on a vacation, golf, or whatever reasonably easy (since I didn't have to ask my employer first.) This do whatever, whenever is partly why I'm in the shape I'm in, I love to eat... and eat good. One of the things that I'm most worried about is the possibility that I won't be able to drink carbonated beverages such as beer or things that mix with alcohol after surgery. I'm not an alcoholic by any means, but, I have a lot of fun. And drinking on the golf course or during a cocktail hour in business settings has been a big part of my life over the past 10 years. Not to mention, most of my friends like to kick back and drink on the weekends. I'm confused because I have read many things that a lot of folks aren't able to handle alcohol or drink carbonated beverages at all... Yet, I have a good friend who had the surgery and in some ways, I wouldn't hardly notice a difference in his eating/drinking unless he had told me. He still drinks a few beers, drinks a ton of wine, and some mixes and seems to be fine. The main area I can see a difference is that he seems to get drunker quicker. What are your experiences? What is the norm? Is it just that this surgery affects everyone differently? I mean, I am obviously willing to give up some of this for my health for my family... But, I'm just trying to figure out what to expect. Any input is appreciated. Oh, and my surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday. Thanks. -

Drinking alcohol post-op, your experiences?

Thanks to everyone for replies... I have to say that it seems some of the responses are a little preachy... Sounded like it was coming exactly from my psychiatrist lady lol. Maybe I should have expected that. But, I really appreciate those that are touching on the actual point of my question "What have your experiences been?" From the limited number of replies, it kind of seems like those who have wanted to keep their social lives the same (as far as cocktail hours, etc.) are able to. Those who chose not to drink much in the first place are still not drinking and have a better reason not to. As I said before, it's nothing I would consider canceling my surgery for. I just wanted an idea of what to expect from those who have already been there. The other thing I found interesting is that unless I missed one, it's been ALL females who've commented. I'd be interested to hear some males perspectives as well. (But, keep on commenting girls!) -
Drinking alcohol post-op, your experiences?

I know that's how it's supposed to be, but, again... I physically see my friend who has had the operation doing it, as well as reading a few other posts from other people saying they have an occasional beer or three as well. What dictates whether your able to handle it? Is it just pure luck? Or if you drank a lot in past, are you more likely to be able to handle it after sleeve? Again, I don't know, just asking. -
Going back to golf
PlzCoolerMe replied to Rcnavigated76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an avid golfer and a month out from my scheduled date. Since it's been a while, how long was it before you were good to go? I have a charity scramble that I organize a month after surgery. I was hoping to try to play in it if possible. I thought if nothing else, I might just chip and putt since there are 3 other guys. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
