JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
TerriLeeH replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone sounds like they are doing extremely well! Congratulations! I had the sleeve on July 2. I thought I was doing great until Day 2. I had to end up staying an extra day in the hospital due to severe nausea. When I came home, as expected, I was EXHAUSTED! I slept 14 hours a day and was running a low grade fever. My doc chalked it up to post-op, but I knew I was not right. Finally, after two visits back to the doctor in the first week, they cultured one of my incisions and discovered that I had an infection. Pseudomonas. My surgeon swears she has no idea how I got it, that she has never had a patient get this type of infection from the hospital. All I know is that I was put on 10 days of Cipro (which has to be crushed! ) and I'm finally starting to feel better. Of course the Cipro causes nausea, which causes me not to eat anything during Phase II. To compound things, my blood pressure was way too low, causing low energy and dizziness. I'm now off my BP meds, but my pressure is still on the low side. I weigh myself every morning when I get up and in 3 weeks and 1 day post op, I have only lost 9 lbs. Needless to say, I'm just a little bummed! I don't regret having the surgery, I just regret getting this darn infection. Sorry to go on and on but I guess this is the place to vent. Thanks for listening and I hope and pray that everyone keeps getting stronger everyday! -
Congratulations! You'll be up and going in no time! Good luck!

12 days post-op and able to have 8 ounces of liquid without a problem. Is something wrong?
TerriLeeH replied to TheNewJulie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 11 days out. I was concerned about the same thing. My biggest fear is stretching out my stomach! My doc said it's very hard, nearly impossible to stretch your stomach out with just liquids. It's the food you have to worry about. I am just weak and tired. This morning, I was a little shaky. Im worried because I'm already tired of the Protein shakes. Good luck to you! -
I am day 10 out from my Gastric Sleeve procedure. I started feeling ill 4 days ago, low grade fever, head ache, and complete exhaustion. I finally called my doc yesterday and they wanted to check me out. I was told I was healing perfectly, have no idea why I had a log grade fever, and the reason I was exhausted was that I had had major surgery. Well, I felt silly, but better safe than sorry. Today is a new dilemma. Diarrhea. I keep hearing "hang in there, it gets better!" I'm trying to be patient. The good news is that I am not hardly sore from the surgery at all! I can get up and walk around with virtually no pain and that's why I thought I should be feeling better than I do. Good luck to you!

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
TerriLeeH replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started gaining weight 20 years ago when my mother died after a short battle with cancer. 100 pounds later, and going up weekly, I said enough is enough. I had tried everything over the years, spending thousands of dollars in the process, to no avail. I wasn't ever successful. A friend of mine had the gastric sleeve over a year ago and was very happy with the surgery and its results. So, in January, I started the process. Now, I'm Day 7 post op and looking forward to my new life.
