  1. I am post op 3 1/2 months. I have started losing my hair as expected. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to deal with this? Thanks!!
  2. I am almost at the 50 pound mark. Can't weight, I mean wait- LOL. I was trying to figure out how to get clothing without spending much money. It won't be long before my clothing will be way too big as well. A friend gave me 6 bags of clothing. She is a bit smaller and a shopaholic. I feel like a kid in a candy store with a golden ticket! I am so happy for you Thanks for sharing your joy!

    need support

I am scheduled for gastric sleeve on June 23. I don't know anyone who has been down this road. I am very stressed. Can anyone be a support pal? Anyone else having surgery soon and is also stressed? How do I get past the stress?
  4. Do you have a quote that has encouraged you on the journey? Please share it. We can all use a little encouragement along the way.
  5. I am 3 weeks out and on pureed food. I have eaten soup with soft pieces in them. I just make sure to chew any of the soft pieces well. I do not eat clam chowder, but clams might be chewy. Maybe the restaurant would strain it for you? Never hurts to ask. Today is my anniversary. I plan to go out and find something soft. Then chew, chew, chew. Good luck!
  6. I feel for you. I am also 3 weeks post-op. I try not to weigh myself more than 1-2 times a week. We all have our own journey. You will lose weight when your body is ready. I have not had a stall yet, but know it hits almost all of us at some point. Don't let this temporary setback get you down. You did this for the long haul. Keep up the good work!
  7. I am 3 weeks post-op. I eat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with applesauce. I plan to try egg salad next. These are all easy. You can buy the eggs already hard-boiled to make your own, or find a good deli. Are you a Pinner? I have found many good recipes on Pinterest. Good Luck!!
  8. I have the opposite problem. I did not lose my hunger. I am 3 weeks post-op, and I get hungry about every 2 hours. So, I don't forget to eat. It's good my stomach is small. That keeps me in check because I feel funny when I am full. We all have our own journey. I imagine there will be those who wish they had your sleeve. Enjoy it!

    Hate protein shakes!

After so many Protein shakes, I am sick of them. I am three weeks post-op. I now put Protein powder in hot tea. I then pour it over iceto make ice tea since I am not a hot drink person. Best wishes for a quick recovery!
  10. I am 15 days post-op. I used to take Dicloenec. The pain in my knees is keeping me from walking much or doing much. Tylenol does not do much. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I am going to make an appointment with an orthopedic. I want to enjoy this time of recovery, and instead I am discouraged. I'd appreciate your ideas.

    10 days post op.

I suggest you call your dr or nut and tell them how you feel. That is what they are there for. I am 15 days out. I am not doing the 1 ounce cup thing. I just keep sipping. When I left the hospital, I was told 30 ml in 30 minutes. Then I was to double that. I did not use the cups long. I kept sipping and allowed how I felt to guide me. I do not have to go back to work yet. You did not have a lot of time off if you are working already. Your body has been through a lot. Take care of yourself and be good to yourself. It will get easier. Hope you feel better soon.
  12. I need to get more Protein in my diet. I am full liquids right now. I know that the nut suggests unflavored Protein powder added to food like yogurt and cream Soup. I am concerned about the taste. Can anyone suggest a brand that will not make food taste icky? I also need a Protein shake that tastes good. I have only had Bariatric Advantage. I do not think I could do one of those again. After having 4 a day for 10 days, I am sick of them. I have also tried Premier Protein vanilla. Not bad, but I am not crazy about it. I added PB2 to it to try to change the flavor. That helped a little. I hate wasting money on buying lots of different shakes to see if I like them. Can anyone suggest some favorites to try? Thanks!
  13. Love this post! I won't miss not fitting the seat belt in a friend's car. I won't miss worrying if someone's outdoor plastic chairs will fit my butt, and when I decide to sit on them, I won't miss standing up and having the chair stick to my butt. I won't miss being uncomfortable in theater seats.
  14. Take good care of yourself. Just think how much you will enjoy people seeing less of you.
  15. It was tough. I got through it using sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, and broth. The broth was nice because it was not sweet. I had a lot of support from family and spent a lot of time in prayer. I am now post-op 12 days. This is hard. Your resolve to change your life needs to be your focus. It will not always be hard. Each stage will get better. I tried to think of it as a strange short term diet. We all have tried those. Make your life as easy as you can and be good to yourself. One of the biggest help was and is Bariatric Pal. It has given me help from so many who have been down this road and understand what I am facing. Enjoy your vacation!
  16. Thanks everyone. I ordered GENEPRO awhile from Amazon. If I don't like that, I will try one of the others. Happy 4th!!
  17. I didn't like the foam at first either. I used a blender. You could try a shaker. My nut said that part of it was finding a consistency that you can tolerate. She suggested using only 4 oz. Water and whisking it to make a pudding? I never felt it seemed like pudding, but you could try it. Also I liked it in a blender with 8 oz of water and more ice. You may need to experiment.
  18. The advice given sounds good. I am in full liquid stage and would be if I were 2 weeks out. The foods you ate are not on my list, but I know different places and doctors do different things. How did you feel after eating? I goofed today. I fixed about a cup of Protein shake and drank it too fast. I did not feel good at all. I'm glad in a way that it happened so that I will remember to be more cautious. We are going to make mistakes. What you did does not sound like enough to open you sleeve. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

    Knee pain

I read somewhere that it usually takes a weight loss of 60 pounds to feel the change on the joints. I have really bad knees, too. The Tylenol isn't enough. I am only post op 1 week, so I am not expecting much yet. I plan to discuss this with my surgeon next time I see him. Best Wishes!

    8 days post op

We are on the same time table. I had my surgery on 6/23. I was on Clear liquids for five days. Now I am full liquids for 14 days. So- today I had: Cream of wheat, Greek yogurt Cream of chicken Soup sugar free chocolate pudding I also had some Premier Protein shake in between. I expect my meals to mostly be something like that. My Dr. and Nut seem a bit more cautious in what they say to eat than other lists I've seen on line. Some lists have included applesauce and mashed potatoes. I will then be 14 days on pureed food 14 days on soft Then regular foods. If anyone has any full liquid ideas, I would love to hear about them.
  21. P.S. The article was first posted by MrsSugarbabe. I wanted to give her credit.
  22. I found this article with 19 ways to have portable Protein Snacks. Maybe you might find something there that you didn't think about trying for variety. Good Luck! http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=1996
  23. I am 5 days post op. I started having the runs yesterday. I am on Clear liquids. Is this normal? I see my surgeon tomorrow.
  24. Tomorrow is my surgery. I am nervous. Any advice?
