Hi! Congrats on your weight loss! 40 pounds in 4 months is nothing to sneeze at! LOL I was banded in January 08, so I'm at the same time frame as you. I've also had 2 fills since then. I also feel that I can eat too much. My difference is that I don't get hungry-I eat because I'm bored or realize I haven't eaten. Since my 2nd fill, I can't eat anything for breakfast and a lot of things are tough. I tell everyone I'm not complaining-that's what I want to happen! I think you're doing great! They say 1-2 pounds a week weight loss and that might vary if you're exercising and gaining muscle-you'll lose inches. Don't fill too tight! They always say slow and steady wins the race! Keep me updated! Angie in PA PS-I'm actually down to 233, but gotta figure out how to update my ticker :grouphug:

I know this question has been asked a million times, but...... Banded on 1/18/08. First fill 3/3/08---1.8cc in a 10cc band(fluoro-looked good). Never felt huge restriction, but didn't want to vomit! Can pretty much still eat anything. Not really hungry ever. Have lost 3 pounds since then and am walking, bowflexing and active. Here's todays eating---2 hotdogs, 2 pieces wheat bread-brunch. Dinner---1 cup of homemade beef stew and 2 bowls of salad-tasted really good! That seems like a heck of a lot of food to eat without having to stop because of fullness. Of course, now after eating that huge dinner, I feel stuffed. I was trying to hold off on a fill for 8 weeks, due to me paying out of pocket, but I'm not sure. Any advice would be wonderful! I need to go workout now!

just wanted to say hi to everybody going on the same journey as myself. Had to lose 30lbs pre surg. Lost 28 since Oct 5. My band date is 1/18. Kinda hit a plateau the past couple weeks and am hoping the presurg diet will take the 2lbs off and more. Got too much invested in this to blow it now!

Hi! I haven't gotten my band yet--scheduled 1/18/07 with Dr. Ortiz. He has an affiliated fill center in Mount Laurel NJ, which isn't too far from PA. They are certified and have flouroscopy available if needed. If you go to the obesity control center website, they have a link to the fill center. Good luck!

I was just protein shopping and found that Slim fast low carb has the most protein and lowest carbs out of all the slim fasts, atkins. I was going to do the powder jock stuff, but that had 20gram of carbs! Also realized carb shopping, that apples, bananas, and some veggies have a lot of carbs!

I am getting banded 1/18 by Dr. Ortiz. My BMI is (was) 53.6. They want you to be 50 or below for surgery! I need to lose 30lbs. At first I was like, if I could lose the weight, I wouldn't be doing this. I was feeling frustrated! Then I realized that all the times before when I dieted, I could lose the weight, just not keep it off. 30lbs in 3 months is a challenge. I cut out all the junk food, drinks tons of H2o, and started walking 30min three times a week. In 2 weeks I've lost 7lbs. I decided to make a time line of my journey so I could see my progress. My timeline starts at zero in PA and goes to 2700miles for Mexico. Each 1 pound equals 90 miles. I even made a little Tijauna Taxi to slide along it!!! I put it up at work so my support team there can see also. It's exciting to see my little taxi already at 630 miles! I can do this!!!

Hi Everyone!! I am just starting my journey to being a normal weight person! I am scheduled to be banded 1/18/08 by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. Because my BMI is 52.6, I need to lose 30lbs. Makes me a little nervous to know I have 3 months and 3 holidays to go thru to do it. How did everyone else do it? I really don't want to start the protein shakes now, but I will if necessary. Did anyone lose this amount of weight? I CAN NOT FAIL! Also I am flying in from PA and am a little worried about the plane ride home and the post lap gas pains. Really need to try to fly home 1/20. THanks for all the advice!!!

Dr. Boorse is at LVH on cedar crest blvd. I went to a free info night. He is a really nice guy, and I would have done it there, but I didn't feel like fighting the insurance company and the hospital wants you to go to a mandatory 6 month screening process whether you use insurance or not. You have to go to monthly day time meetings, and if you don't lose a certain amount of weight, you can't get the surgery and if you lose weight and go below the 40 BMI, they won't do the surgery! A lot of disappointed people walked away from that meeting. I'm tired of the BS of the US, so I am being Lap banded 1/18/08 in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz! 13 weeks and counting! Good luck to you!
