JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
SMED0308 replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First postop visit. Can't say I've lost a whole lot, but 29 pounds total including my preop prep. Swelling is starting to go down and I'm back to shakes. They taste extra good for some reason. Haha. No real hunger feelings, and food hasn't bothered me hardly at all. Hope everyone is doing well. I can't wait to see everyone's before sand after pics next year. Not to wish a year away, just pounds. -

I was on the 2nd. I've had the same "cramps". I mostly have those at night. I want to sleep on my side, but they put me on my back. Hope to get to shakes today after this appt! -

I just had my GS surgery on the 7th, but I'm really struggling to get my 60g of protein down + the 64 fl oz of beverages. I feel really full. I've been able to pass gas easily. When I feel full & try to consume, my mouth gets watery & then I get Urpey. That doesn't feel so hot on the sutures. I also get up hourly & walk around. Any suggestions would be great.I think you're in your way fine. Sounds a lot like me. I go to my first postop today, and I can't bear the Isopure anymore. It made me a little sick yesterday, and I only got a third of a bottle. Thank goodness for Popsicles and Jello (sugar free). The walking helps I know. -

Congratulations!!!! Walk as soon as you can to help with the gas. After the swallow test, you'll enjoy water like you never have before, only in teeny sips. Tomorrow won't be so bad. The day after that will be the worst, but the payoff makes it TOTALLY worth it. -

Going for my first postop visit tomorrow. I never thought I'd be so happy to get back to the Muscle Milk. I don't get to purée for at least another week. I got sick from the Isopure this am. I just can't stomach it anymore. I think the broth and Popsicles have been keeping me going. Not sure how much I've lost, but I'm just so excited. The gas pains have gotten A LOT better. I've been as active as possible. I think that's helped. Downside is that my energy level is through the floor. -
I cannot wait to get to puréed goodies! Right now I'm just r-e-a-l-l-y tired. Worst thing though. Had to cook BBQ chicken for the family. And I make some mean BBQ.

I'm excited too!! I'm looking forward to my first visit. Can't wait till the swelling and pains disappear too. Not bad though. The worst part is the low and up/down energy levels which I'm sure will bounce back. I'm bringing naps back into style. ????. Good luck tomorrow! -

NavyMom6 Not sure if your Dr gave you a list of items for postop. I bought sugar free Jello and Popsicles, Beef and Chicken broth, and Isopure. The Isopure has the protein you'll need for at least the first week. It was easy to put down before surgery, but not so easy now. Buy water and G2 Gatorade. Keep sippin water and get up walking as soon as you can. -
I was sleeved on 7/2. I really don't know if I've been hungry yet. I'm on Isopure for protein, broth, and sugar free jello and Popsicles until my first postop appt on Thursday. The beef and chicken broth is awesome. Yes I know. Broth. Big whoop. Right now it's all I've got. . I can't wait to get to purée. I'm told that's two weeks away for my Drs plan. As long as I sip water or G2 Gatorade, I don't feel hunger. If I have something that seems like hunger, it's usually subsided by a sip or water. I really think it's stomach acid. It's worse in the mornings bc I haven't had anything and feel dehydrated. Again, a sip or two of water and I'm fine.

You are gonna be just fine. I was the same way just last week. I was excited and freaking at the same time. The only advice I could offer right now is: 1. Try to relax and think about the final outcome. 2. Get up and walk as absolutely soon as possible. If you feel like you can make another trip down the hall, DO IT! I really think it helped my recovery. There were two others that day that had surgery. I think I was in the middle. I left before them and never saw them up. I did hear nurses tell the they would feel better sooner. I think I did. 3. Don't wait until the next day to get meds. I was prescribed the Tylenol with Codeine, and a few for nausea. Luckily, no nausea, but the Tylenol DID help me sleep and nap. 4. You're gonna be exhausted, so rest well, and walk around the house. -

Hello all. July 2 here. I'm about 1 week postop here. Glad it's over. I stayed one night. Didn't wear anything but hospital gowns and packed for more. I slept a lot. I am still excessively tired. I got up and started walking as soon as I could. The gas from surgery sucks. I wasn't anticipating that. I wasn't expecting the abdominal drain. Not pretty, but not a problem. They said walking helps. Learning to sip instead of gulp has been difficult. All in all, I'm so glad I did this. I still have some gas pains, but I know it will get better. I have my first follow up in 2 days. It's just a totally new experience. I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.
