On track for November...
StabMyFinger replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will finish my 6 visits with the GP on the 5th of Noember. They have all my paper work and tests ready to send to Medicare for approval. Hoping it's a short wait, my nut said medicare has to respond withi 14 days. Then it will just be scheduling waiting. -
I have a pressure point on my right side and I believe it is where they secured my port for the band. I am having RNY surgery in November and hope that this pressure goes away. I had lung surgery last December and was blaming that for it, but after Dr visits and xrays, that is not the problem. So hopefully it will go away when they remove the band

Hello, I am looking for people who will be getting a November 2014 date. I am halfway through my 6 month Dr documentation and can't wait till my time. I have a lap band and it will be removed and a RNY done. I have thought long and hard about my decision as I 65. My Dr said he has done this on many "older" people and saw no reason for any problems. I am just looking for someone else to talk to going through the same as me.

Medicare....No approval needed?
StabMyFinger replied to businessmom2011's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have to have a 6 months of medical visits with my Primary before they can send in everything. This is in North Carolina, I guess all states are different -
I was told that Medicare has 14 days to respond & most insurance companies have 45 days.

Relationships: I am not telling my extended family members about my surgery....
StabMyFinger replied to 5comorbids's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I too have decided not to tell anyone. My husband & children are aware of what is going on, but are sworn not to tell anyone. I feel its my life and how I handle it and am at peace with my decision. Someone always has a negative word to say and I just don't care to hear it. After all, I am doing this for me no one else -
Does anyone go to Curves?

August 6th lap band to gastric bypass surgery
StabMyFinger replied to Gabriela 6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am hoping to have a band-to-rny in early November. I chickened out the first time and went with the band. But now I am glad I waited for things have changed and there is a lot more information out there now and groups like this. I was banded in 2005 and hope for the best of possible results this coming November. Also I have noticed the Dr's are much more confident and knowing. -

I am 65 and in the process of waiting for 6 months for my rny. I was a little shakey buy my Dr said he has done many on older people and all succesful. So I have all my testing done, and just have to wait. It looks like it will be November some time. -

I have been told that soda will be a no no, that won't bother me, but someone recently said that coffee will also be off limits. Is it true?

Just got home from my visit with the shrink. All went well, blood pressure was up alittle, but he said that was normal. So now all I have to do is wait out my regular Dr appointments for 3 more months. Medicare makes you wait for 6 months.
-
I had my visit witht eh shrink today. Was amazed it went so well. Was only in there for a half hour. He just asked normal questions and asked about my history and family history. Said the Dr should have his report by Friday. So just waiting for my six visits with the Dr on weight control to be over. Come on November

On track for November Surgery
StabMyFinger replied to DaronB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If only medicare would drop the 6 month wait, but I am almost half way there. Got my test done, nutrition done, and next week the shrink. Hurry November! -
Had my visit with the nutritionist yesterday. Was nervou but she wa very nice. Asked a lot of questions that I answered as truthfully as I could. She had my records from my band and was able to go over them. She said that alot has changed, but I have the basic information already so we went on and talked about other things. I think this will really work out well, I wasn't really into the band (work, family) but now that I am retired and have the time, I'm ready to get going with the rny. My surgery should be some time in November, as medicare has a 6 month wait.
