Diabetics, cured from WLS
shebaker1 replied to eal098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My blood sugar has been in the 102-107 range. My doc said to take the met but if my blood sugars were good to stop taking it. I decided if it was that low there was no need for met. Feeling so much better after surgery. Best of luck!! -
? Dehydration go to the ED and they can check your bp too. If you don't feel well get checked out and then you will know and won't be guessing what might be wrong.

Had my surgery July 28th. Feeling great, walking 1/4 mile. Still on protein and liquids and no probs that I am aware of except the incisions are healing and itch.

im slated for the 28th also. I wont know what time until later today. Excited and have the count down started. Cant hardly wait to feel better and have more energy and with any luck diabetes will be in my past. Really looking forward to not taking so many meds. I hate taking pills.I'd love to be your buddy. You can email me at shebaker1@ yahoo.com as well if you would like. Talk soon, Rebecca

Surgery Date Aug. 4 - Day 1 of liquid diet!
shebaker1 replied to *Shelly*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im different or the diet is different for me. I start tomorrow to detox my liver (fatty liver). All the Protein I want regardless of calories and no more than 20 grams of carbs. I have diabetes so I am sure I will be feeling great without the carbs. My surgery date is set for July 28th. I have been waiting for a year to have this done. (A whole YeaR). I am excited to be feeling better, although I am not looking forward to the surgical pain after. I had a ventral hernia repaired last July as an out patient. It was horrible because of the pain. I went to the doctor for an elevated temp 3 days later and I expressed the pain I had endured and he said we have been doing those as an in patient lately.. (ya now he tells me.) This time is the bypass surgery and a hiatal hernia repair. I know things will be different this time because I will be in the hospital 2 nights and 3 days before discharge. One night will probably be in ICU because I have sleep apnea. Through it all I will stand strong and only good things will come with getting a chance to regain my health. Thumbs up for excitement. !!!! -
Need AUGUST bypass buddies!
shebaker1 replied to rhfactor272's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im slated for July 28th, almost August if that counts. I went to my last appt on the 9th to sign papers etc. The doctor wants me on on a high Protein low carb diet for next 3 weeks. He said it will help with my liver to make it less stiff (fatty liver and safer if he has to move it around to get to my stomach. Then a clear diet for one day and npo the next day prior to surgery. He said its like adkins diet on steroids. I am way excited for this new adventure, not looking forward to the day after surgery pain etc but if it helps with my diabetes it will be well worth it. -
hernia w/ gastric bypass? anyone?
shebaker1 replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a ventral hernia surgery last july. Then I went to see about the gastric bypass and had a endoscopy and they found a hyatal hernia so they plan to repair it while they do the gastric bypass. I think I am falling apart..
