It gets better, I promise. I felt the exact same way. I had no idea how it would become a job to drink and I still couldn't meet my Protein or h2o quotas. It took me about 6 wks post op until I finally was able to get in my liquids. I was terrified to try new foods. My husband really helps me. I am almost 2 months post op and I can only take in about 1 1/2 oz at a time of food. I snack on fage 0 with a packet of stevia, 1% milk, and the Premier Protein (premade) is the only Protein Shake I can get down. Take it one day at a time. It will get easier and you will be so thankful you did this for yourself. I'm proud of you, it sure isn't easy.

This happened to me about 3 weeks post op. It was horrible. I thought it was ok bc I wasn't taking in much of anything. I put Miralax 2 x a day in something I was drinking. Miralax is slower to work but it will work and it doesn't cause any cramping. It took about 3 days. I hope you get some relief soon.

I'm starting Clear Liquids today. I am really excited about my new journey. I am anxious about the surgery, having dreams about it all night long. I will be happy when that part is over. Any advice on anything you wish you had known going in, either for the hospital or first weeks home?

I have been going to pain management for over a year and I have that fear that I have tolerance and that the pain will be unbearable when I get switched to the liquid pain meds for the surgery. I let them do 2 epidurals and both were horrible. It caused more pain both times. I was in the bed in tears for about 2 weeks each time. I should have never let him talk me into the second one. He still wanted me to do a third one. No way in the world will I ever do that again. My RNY surgeon said that he thinks I will be able to come off most of my meds for my back and I pray that is the case. Knowing you have gone through this and you feel some pain improvement is so encouraging. I am so over hurting all the time. I hate that I need these pain meds. Keep in touch!

Hello there! My surgery is 12/30/2014. I am very excited for a fresh start of my life. I have high BP, GERD, insomnia, and some bad back issues. My last straw was when the neurologist said that a spinal fusion was my only option. I refused the surgery and chose to finally do something about my weight. I really look forward to being off all of these medications. I want to play with my babies and not pay for it in pain later. I am ecstatic about my future. I am excited for all of you. I appreciate you all sharing the good and bad of what I will be facing soon.

I felt the same way. I am almost 2 months post op and a part of me still thinks I am going to fail. This is not easy. It is a life changing experience. The mental part of this experience has been the hardest thing for me. I have changed so much. I could not work out because of pain. In less then 2 months my high BP is cured and I am off 3 medications for pain. I hiked 4 miles yesterday. I never could have done this before. I would have been in bed for 2 wks recovering. Before the surgery I wanted to keep it a secret because I was ashamed that surgery was my last option. Well, now I will shout it from the roof tops. My RNY has changed my life. I'm a better wife and mother and I know I will be around for many more years to come. I would do it again tomorrow.
