    Disappointed

We all make mistakes. Being honest with yourself (and us) is a great step. We all have to learn and practice new habits, attitudes, and skills. I bet the cake didn't taste nearly as good as you thought it would. I just hope it doesn't make you sick. (Just the thought of all that sugar makes me a little ill.) Next time, try reaching out to us before you take the first bite.

    I am so lost!

Here is the book I mentioned: The One-Life Solution: Reclaim Your Personal Life While Achieving Greater Professional Success https://www.amazon.com/dp/0061466433/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LDlmxbNBKVHP3

    I am so lost!

Have you tried the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates? I like them because they are clear and lighter than Protein Shakes. You can put them in your water bottle. Each packet is 15 grams of protein. Bless your heart! My mom had 4 kids and I STILL don't know how she did it (dad travelled a lot for work).

    3 Weeks Post Op

Definitely talk to your surgeon. You may need more time off and/or modified duties when you do return to work.

    I am so lost!

You have to put yourself and your recovery first. I am single, no kids, live near family, and not working, and the first few months were challenging. I cannot imagine how you do it! You may have to get creative. How old are your kids? They may need to help more. Use a calendar. Make sure you schedule everything (put your meals, Snacks, exercise, doctors appointments, support group meetings, sleep, etc., first, then schedule everything else around that. Planning ahead is critical. One book I HIGHLY recommend is Dr. Henry Cloud's One Life Solution. It is about setting boundaries, life balance, etc. There are also productivity resources that you may find useful like Covey. Don't be afraid to ask for help. From your kids, friends, church members, babysitters, etc. Maybe you need to hire a "mother's helper" for the summer. Keep us posted on how you are doing. The people on this site have a wealth of experience and wisdom.

What Is the Craziest Thing You’ve Ordered at a Restaurant?

We have a local Chinese restaurant that delivers. The couple who own it are super nice. I used to be a very good customer pre-op. They have been super supportive and encouraging about my surgery (even though it has meant a drastic drop in business for them). They STILL think it is crazy that I tell them "no rice" the few times I have ordered from them since surgery.

    NOT ME!

Wow. Congratulations and best of luck with your pregnancy. This does surprise me because of the stress my surgeon placed on birth control and pregnancy prevention/testing pre-op. I am a 51 year old single woman who is not in a relationship and it would be a miracle if I were pregnant, and still got all the education and testing to make sure I was not pregnant. I agree to make sure that your NUT, OB/GYN, and bariatric team are all looped in. Sending you hugs and wishing you and your family all the best!

    HOPE

You have received some great advice from others. I have learned, whether pre- or post-op, that have short, medium, and long-term goals to work toward really help. You mentioned work and school. In addition to short-term goals like weaning yourself off of carbonation, etc., maybe see if you can come up with some short-term goals related to work and school, too. Another thing that helps both pre- and post-op is to have a hobby that will keep your hands busy for the times when you want to mindlessly eat, but can't. Knitting, crocheting, coloring, painting, etc., are great for this. They are fairly easy to learn and practice, and to pick up and put down when needed.

How far out are you? What phase are you on? How are you preparing and eating beef and pork?

    Psych Eval worries

I know it is hard to open up to other people, but it really helps. You may even want to see if you can find a grief support group. I attended grief counseling through my church and found it helpful. I just noticed a posting for a grief support group through our local wellness center.

    Psych Eval worries

I mean i set up an appointment to rake about the recent loss on my brother but i think i can handle it. I just dont like the idea of medication (my brother over dosed) and it causes nervousness thinking about taking addictive medication. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App I am so sorry for your loss. Treating depression doesn't necessarily mean taking meds (although they can really help). Counseling can be very helpful.

What Is the Craziest Thing You’ve Ordered at a Restaurant?

Drive thrus are fun, especially when I am ordering something really simple, like ice Water. Ordering a sandwich without the bread is usually really fun. I order a sandwich, no bun. Their response: do I want a meal or just a sandwich? I respond: I want just the sandwich but with no bun. I always have to double-check and have them read back my order.
  15. Welcome! We are a fairly helpful bunch (for the most part). Best of luck with your surgery.

    Psych Eval worries

Are you being treated for depression? Being depressed should not in itself lead to your being denied. What is more likely to happen is that the psych eval will talk about how you are dealing with depression and your plan to address depression post-op. Be open, honest, and very frank about your challenges and issues. Part of the reason for a psych eval is to help you identify barriers to being successful and how you can address those barriers.

You can check drugstore.com. They have a lot of protein supplements.
  18. I like @@VSGAnn2014's suggestion of practicing a response. A response I find myself frequently using when someone offers me food or tries to push food is: "That looks delicious, but no thank you, I am fine with what I have." Or something similar. I find that if I communicate that I choose not to eat something, rather than that I am restricting or turning my nose up at food, preop me tend to respond in a positive way. "No, thank you." goes a long way.

    plateau/Stall

I don't know how long your stall will last. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Stalls and fluctuations are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. So, you are right on schedule. Just follow your program, focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, and stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! Too much weight loss presurgery?

The only thing I would think would be defined as too much weight loss pre-surgery was if 1) you start with a low BMI and you drop below where your insurance were to approve your surgery and/or 2) you followed an unhealthy diet and went into surgery extremely malnourished or with other health problems due to an unhealthy diet.
