    Water!

Do you not have a NUT? Did you not receive any nutrition counseling? Were you not given any post-op nutrition instructions? My Protein target is 100 grams of protein every day. With one exception, I was within +/- 5 grams of 100 grams every day once I got home from the hospital in the first few weeks. It took longer for me to get 64 oz of Fluid every day, but I was close. You cannot heal, let alone lose weight, on 8 oz of fluid and less than 8 oz of Protein shake. I HIGHLY recommend you make an appointment with your NUT.

    Water!

I am sure it is healthy, it just doesn't sound like enough Protein. Unless you are drinking a couple of gallons in a day then it can't possibly have enough protein.

    Water!

MyFitnessPal is free app that you can download to your phone. 1) if you drink a partial Protein shake then you count what you drank. 2) But, you should be drinking more than one protein shake in a day. According to my surgeon there is no physical reason you shouldn't be able to drink 3 premier Proteins (33 oz liquid/90 grams protein) the day after surgery. I am really concerned that you aren't getting nearly enough liquids and protein.

    Swallow or crush pills?

I never crushed any of mine.

    Scars

I like Palmer's cocoa butter and cocoa oil. They both have vitamin E and smell great.

A slim fast and a bowl of soup does not sound like a healthy way to lose the weight. I am surprised that they congratulated you for losing too much in such an unhealthy way.

I highly recommend that you track your food so that you KNOW how much protein you are getting. Otherwise, how will you know whether or not you are hitting your protein target? I use MyFitnessPal and it is a lifesaver since I can't remember what I did 10 minutes ago.

    NSV: Bathing Suit

It may not seem like a big deal, but this week I stopped in at Target and bought a bathing suit top off the rack. I didn't try it on but I got one size smaller than the one I have been wearing. Today, when I got to the pool I tried it on and actually looked at myself, in my bathing suit, in front of a full length mirror. The suit fit, and I looked pretty good all things considered.

    NSV: Bathing Suit

Today was the first time I got in our pool at home since the fall. I have been regularly swimming laps at our local wellness center because they have an indoor pool. Not only am I wearing a smaller bathing suit, I was able to walk over an uneven stone path without having to hold onto anything. Plus, I was able to squeeze between the hand-rail and the fence to go get the skimmer. That is a first. Edited: spelling

    Exercise

If you can. I think it really depends on your physical capacity. I couldn't have walked 30 min 3 weeks post-op, but then again, I couldn't do it pre-op either. I didn't start any intense exercise until I was cleared to get on the pool.

Long term food choices post sleeve

P.S., you don't have to make every meal decision for a lifetime today. You get to eat three or more times a day for the rest of your life.

Long term food choices post sleeve

I guess it depends on what you mean about foods you are used to versus healthy foods. For instance, I still eat Peanut Butter every once in a while --- just not very often because the Protein to calorie ratio isn't great. I am a year out and make almost all of my food choices based on the protein content. Pre-op, I lived on carbs. Now, I don't. It hasn't felt like a burden or that I am deprived. As a matter of fact, most of the flavor in food is in the Proteins (probably the fats). I choose small quantities of delicious, nutritious foods most of the time now because I want to. Breads, rice, Pasta, etc. are pretty much just filler that I don't need or really want any more for that matter. If I do choose something with healthy carbs (like oatmeal), I just do my best to add protein to it.

How much Protein does that give you?

Fat free, low far, light or regular?

I do some lowfat dairy products, but most everything else I choose full fat (because fake fat and added sugar are not healthy trade offs in my opinion). I have found that post-op, a little goes a long way.

So, it sounds like you are not getting your protein either. I cannot stress enough that you HAVE to get in your water/fluids and protein if you want to heal.
  17. Yes. I was super morbidly off-the-charts obese. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and couldn't be happier with my choice.

    Water!

It is understandable, but you have got to find a way to get your fluids in. You need at least 64 oz. You DO NOT want to have to deal with dehydration. Plus, fluids are critical for healing and weight loss. Try sugar free Popsicles.
  19. Mine is 100 grams of Protein a day. My surgeon's guidelines are: At least 100 grams for all men and anyone with a starting BMI of over 50. All women under a starting BMI of 50 have a goal of at least 80 grams.

    Water!

I was sleeved April 20, 2015. It took a while, but I was eventually able to drink plain water again. It took a while. In the meantime, try adding water enhancers, herb tea, infusions (like berries, cucumbers, fruit, herbs, etc.), and different temperatures.
  21. One of the (many) reasons to get enough Protein is because of your set point. That is why my surgeon bases protein requirements for life on starting BMI. My biggest question is whether or not you are getting enough protein. Minimizing calories, only eating plant-based, or whole foods, etc. won't really make that big of an impact if you aren't getting enough protein. I have come to believe this is true whether or not you choose to have surgery. On retrospect, this is probably one of the main reasons I got so large in the first place.
  22. This. Even though my dad offered to help, I have moved heaven and earth to find alternate funding. He means well, but he can be a micromanager when it comes to my weight. Maybe consider talking to a counselor together and make sure you have a written agreement in place with expectations and boundaries spelled out. Is this a gift? A bribe? A tool for control? You may want to explore these questions.

    Will loose skin happen ?

These are great suggestions. Also, if the skin causes you issues (mobility, chafing, etc.), be sure and talk about it with your PCP. Having a documented history may help you if you do eventually decide to have skin removal surgery.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

I am not convinced that the people on the show go through insurance. I assume that the production pays for their surgeries as an inducement to let cameras follow them around and film them in the bathroom, etc.

    Any help?!

Carnation no-sugar added breakfast essentials are relatively reasonably priced (except you make them with milk so you need to include the cost of milk). When you talk to your surgeon's office see if they are on the approved list.
