3 weeks post op and stall

Yes, it is normal. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls, and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Trouble finding vitamins?

I was prescribed folic acid (I think) and I got the rest of my vitamins through drugstore.com. Try taking your list to your local Pharmacy and ask your pharmacist to help you find the vitamins that meet your requirements.

    Best way to tighten belly?

To help with skin sag, stay hydrated, take your Vitamins, eat Protein and nutritious food, and keep your skin moisturized (try a lotion or oil with Vitamin E -- I like Palmer's cocoa oil and cocoa butter, it helps with scars, too). It won't eliminate it, but may help. I swim and do crunches, etc. in the pool.
  4. I totally understand but I'm not a person who gives them a few hours and then starts complains it's been over a month and I've sent two emails and called once. I think a over a month is more then enough time to get back to a person. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App If it has been over a month then you can definitely call and/or stop by the office. This is where polite persistence comes in.
  5. Yes, they can be very busy. I know my insurance coordinator set blocks of time to return calls, etc. She was almost never instantly available. If she dropped everything every time someone called or emailed she would have never gotten everything processed. This whole process takes perseverance, polite persistence, but most of all patience.
  6. Can you eat Greek yogurt? Cottage cheese? Tuna? You just may need to eat more frequently if you can't get enough in. Low Protein and low Water will have an impact on your weight loss. I suggest that it is probably a very good idea to stay off the scale until you are able to get your protein and fluids up. Until you do so, as far as I am concerned, the numbers on the scale are meaningless.
  7. As long as a personal trainer doesn't follow the practices of The Biggest Losser then I would agree that MOST personal trainers should be able to work with the morbidly obese. This brings to mind a recent reality show where they had trainers gain weight so that they would know how hard it is to work out when you are overweight, out of shape, and obese. It was quite interesting to see how many of their preconceived ideas were altered. If someone hasn't experienced obesity first-hand, then they better be very empathetic and good listeners in my book.

    plateau or not?

This sounds like a great conversation to have with your surgeon and NUT. Have you already had your one-year follow up?

    How did you lose weight?

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs. We all stall and most of us experience our first stall about three weeks post-op. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  15. I didn't do the calculations for you. How much protein are you actually consuming? Just make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of Fluid (I am not sure what that is in liters) and are meeting your protein target. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. If you feel like you must do something, then focus on getting in ALL of your water (not most) and getting in all of your protein.

Need a little advise and motivation please

I try not to focus on results, but on inputs. But, I do reward myself when I hit milestones. One of my favorite rewards is getting a massage. Another is a mani/pedi.

    Tooth Extractions week before Surgery

This is definitely something you need to talk to your surgeon about.

What is this going to be like?

Get a box of sugar-free Popsicles. They are great to munch on and will give you some Fluid. Both pre and post-op sugar free Popsicles and sugar free Jello are great.

    Advice

This site is full of advice. Do you have specific questions? What are you challenges? The best advice I can give is to: Follow your program. Track your food. Make sure you drink at least 64 oz Fluid a day. Make sure you reach your Protein target daily. Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods. Practice eating mindfully: eat slowly, take small bites, and chew thoroughly. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise. Stay off the scale. Need RNY but...

This sounds like something you need to discuss with your surgeon and various physicians. Coming up with a pain management plan is something your healthcare team has the expertise to do.
  23. I was fortunate in that my surgeon didn't require weight loss for my pre-op diet.

    Feeling desperate, need info!

Protein and Water are really the best ways to curb your appetite. Why not make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your concerns? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
