My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been singing "Copacabana" under my breath ever since seeing Lola's episode. It was so great to see her gain confidence. It was also great to see Pauline FINALLY turn a corner. Her fear was so infuriating. -
Puréed Stage: what are you eating?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to lisamstevens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why? Regular food is more nutritious and tastes better. -

You want to take health advise from Coke?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to OKCPirate's topic in Rants & Raves
More proof they are running scared as people start to figure out how bad their products are for us. If they would be happy with the profits of people drinking an occasional Coke it would be one thing, but they do nothing to discourage people, especially children, from becoming addicted to their products. Edited because eating is not drinking. -
Weight Loss Surgery and Constipation: The Key Ingredients
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Sally Johnston's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
This is a great question to ask your NUT. Immediately after surgery it is hard to drink a large volume of Water at once, but that restriction lessons as you heal. By the way, this thread is a couple of years old. You may get better feedback of you start a thread with your specific question. Best of luck. -
I need HELP making this decision

This sounds like a great question for your surgeon. -
Healthcare Exchange: States that do not cover Bariatric Sugery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Insurance & Financing
I believe you are correct. It is my experience that the non-Medicaid insurance in Kentucky doesn't have it. Of course, if our new so-called "Governor" has anything to say about it the Medicaid coverage will probably go away, too. -
Long night in the E.R. - didja know y'all are my peeps?

Scary. I am so glad it wasn't something more serious and that you got it checked out. You are my peep, too! -
Had surgery on Tuesday and have 2 questions
Inner Surfer Girl replied to kat27641's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to reach my protein target pretty soon after surgery. It took a while longer for me to be able to teach my Fluid target. Fortunately, I was able to count all my fluids (Protein shakes, ice, Popsicles, etc.). Just keep sipping. It does get easier. -
I think I have more condiments and seasonings in my refrigerator and pantry than actual food. What have you discovered or do you use to add flavor to your meals? Any basics or gourmet spices, seasonings, herbs, or condiments that you can't live without? I love browsing specialty food stores and our local Amish markets looking for different flavorings. I am still trying to learn how to use many of them. I just opened a jar of this mustard that I bought before Christmas from Southern Seasons. I added a dab to the plain sliced deli turkey and green onion cheese that I ate for lunch and it has quite a kick. I also happen to like the idea that it comes packaged in a nice glass. Braswell's Smoky Chipotle Mustard What are some of your favorites?

Weight loss stalls

I agree that you may not be eating enough to support your exercise intensity. What does your NUT suggest? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
Weight regain sleeve vs. bypass
Inner Surfer Girl replied to P7rancher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I would like to see a comparison of people with malnutrition between the sleeve and RNY. I bet that is a more interesting comparison. -

Cleanliness after surgery

This! I love having a hand-held shower head. -
Try eating more slowly, take smaller bites, and pre-measure your portions. Hiccups are one of the ways I know I have overeaten.

Today is the day!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ajg91342's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best of luck! See you on the other side! -
Frankly, there is not nearly enough information here to even make an educated guess. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Probably not. If you are not comfortable asking, then maybe consider talking to a counselor or therapist about your concerns. And/or talk to close friends who know you well and ask what they think. There are so many reasons why relationships don't work, I doubt seriously that there is one reason. Maybe your picker is off? Maybe the timing isn't right? Maybe you just haven't yet met the right person? Personally, I don't think it ever hurts to do some self-examination and soul searching. Do you know what you even want in a relationship? Are you prepared for that kind of a relationship if it landed in your lap? Personally, I know that I am going to have to do a LOT of internal work before I will be willing to even date. Best of luck. Let us know how it is going.

Losing hair/hope/everything but weight
Inner Surfer Girl replied to carrie3101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is probably because you are eating "800 or so calories" and didn't even mention your Protein. You are probably not eating enough for your exercise intensity. What is your protein target? Are you getting at least that much every day? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you avoiding added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods? Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? If you are exercising every day are you mixing up your exercise and doing different things? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
One month post op and stuck in a stall...
Inner Surfer Girl replied to dawnmac3903's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here it is: Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall If you are working out intensely. Then you will want to talk to your NUT. At under 1000 calories, you may need more calories. -
Not losing weight in first weeks after surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to simplyjustme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for responding so quickly, I'll work harder at getting in the fluids & protein, getting in more calories will be really tough since I fill up so quickly and only eat about 3-4x a day. Sent from my SGH-M819N using the BariatricPal App If you only eat three or four times a day and are not reaching your protein targets then it sounds like you need to eat more frequently. -
Not losing weight in first weeks after surgery
Inner Surfer Girl replied to simplyjustme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My suggestion: Stay off the scale until you are able to get in your daily fluid and protein requirements and get your calories up. It is critical for healing and weight loss that you consume enough protein and fluids. Until then, it really doesn't matter what the numbers on the scale are. 3rd week
Inner Surfer Girl replied to CelesteMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I think popcorn is one of the worst choices you could make at three weeks post-op. If you need to crunch something, try sugar-free Popsicle or some crushed ice. -
Seafood

I had grilled salmon when I was on soft foods and hibachi shrimp and scallops within the first month. -
