    Stall & disappointment

Yes, it is normal. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. Everyone experiences stalls and slow downs in weight loss. Just about everyone e experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Stay off the scale. 3. Sip, sip, sip. Have something with you at all times and keep sipping. Set short-term goals (ex. Drink 8 oz when you get up in the morning, drink another 8 oz an hour later, etc.). If you have difficulty drinking plain Water, try different temperatures, water enhancers, decaf tea, Herb infusions, etc. You need at least 64 oz of Fluid.

    Veggies

I would wait until you are cleared for all foods, and even then carefully try one new raw vegetable at a time.

    Shower + Incisions

I didn't have gauze or tape, just super glue. I was told I could shower, just not to rub the incisions.

    PLEASE HELP!

You could add avocado to your tuna and/or salad. You could add cheese. (Just about everything tastes better with melted cheese!) You could add a snack of Greek yogurt. Instead of a rice cake you could eat turkey, cheese, some nuts, or other similar protein. Or, put some Peanut Butter on your rice cake. (A good practice is to make sure to eat protein with your carbs.) Or, put peanut butter on a piece of fruit.

What can I do with...Protein powder?

I don't think you can bake with some of them. I know some (like Unjury) are sensitive to high heat.

    PLEASE HELP!

I get over 70 grams of protein a day. I drink a Premier Protein shake faithfully every morning. At 10 I eat a protien bar. Those 2 alone are 45 grams. lunch is either tuna or chicken or a low calorie soup and supper is ALWAYS chicken breast which is 30 more grams. What is the average calorie intake I need at 13 months out. I never have been above a thousand Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App At 13 months out you should be getting most of your protein from food.

Great. As long as you are happy with your results. I just know I would rather KNOW I am getting enough protein than to guess.

    PLEASE HELP!

750 calories is very low. You say it doesn't matter what you eat and what you do so it sounds like you may have tried some different things. Have you tried upping your Protein? Upping your calories? Upping your Water? Are you tracking your food? How much protein are you getting in? Are you eating protein first? Are you eating frequent small protein-based meals and Snacks? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Are you eating healthy carbs? Are you eating healthy fats? Have you tried doing some different exercise? Weights/resistance training? Swimming? Yoga? A dance class? Are you eating mindfully? Taking small bites, eating slowly, and chewing thoroughly? Have you talked with your NUT about your concerns? What does he or she suggest? The obvious thing to me is that you should increase your calories (and possibly your protein depending on how much you are eating). Weight loss and liquids

As far as I am concerned, the numbers on the scale are pretty irrelevant until you can reliably get in your protein and fluids every day. Getting enough protein and fluids is critical for healing and for weight loss. That said, none of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs and almost everyone has a stall about three weeks after surgery. Weight gain in the first week of surgery is usually because of the IV fluids and swelling (you did just have major surgery). Just follow your program. Focus on getting in at least 64 oz of Fluid and reaching your protein target. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. 16. Not to say that he "should" be bringing home junk, but why in the world "should" he be upset if you don't buy it. If he wants it so bad he can go buy his own.

    Whole30

Great! Any particular reason you have chosen not to track your protein? How do you know whether or not you are getting enough if you don't track?

    Clear liquids

Did your surgeon or NUT give you a list? Mine was anything I could see through (but not fruit juice because it has too much sugar). I may have been allowed diluted unsweetened juice but I don't remember. Clear liquids: Water Crystal light/Mio drops, etc. in water. Clear broth. Decaf tea. Herb tea. Syntrax nectar ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate. If in doubt, call your surgeon's office and ask. Best of luck with your surgery!

    Weight regain sleeve vs. bypass

Instead of focusing on anatomy questions, I would be more concerned with a surgeon's experience. I lucked into an outstanding surgeon. I think he is in the sweet spot of being old enough to have a LOT of experience (over 4000 sleeves) but young enough to be open to the latest techniques. What I have been most impressed with though is his knowledge of the disease of obesity and his compassion and his program's support services. My surgeon spent about two hours explaining everything and answering questions in a group setting --- that is where I learned the most throughout this process. I probably wouldn't choose a surgeon who I was not confident in his or her judgement when it comes to the details of the surgery. It doesn't hurt to ask questions so you can understand exactly what is happening. And it is ok to keep asking until you understand. But, I am not one of these people who worries about the size of the surgical tools, etc. I did have the option of having my surgeon at a hospital with a new robot and one without. After talking with my surgeon I chose the one without because he was confident that my experience would be no different either way.

    What am I doing wrong?

I would definitely suggest increasing your protein. Aim for closer to 80 grams.
  21. Inner Surfer Girl

    Clear liquids

Try ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Syntrax Nectar may also be ok, too.

    Workouts

Until I was cleared to get in the pool, I just walked some. Once my incisions healed, and I was able to swim, I started swimming (Water aerobics, laps, etc.).
  23. Inner Surfer Girl

    I feel devastated..

You could also get a job and postpone your surgery for a little while.
