Hey, @Babbs. Good to see you. I've been wondering where you were.

    Daily diet

What protein target were you given initially? Mine is 100 grams.

    In a bad depression slump...

I don't think sunlight and exercise are bro science: they do help with brain chemistry.

    In a bad depression slump...

I agree about the exercise. My exercise of choice is swimming. I always feel so much better after a swim. Plus, sunlight also helps me, so swimming outside is doubly pleasurable.

    In a bad depression slump...

I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time. Are you being treated for your depression? If not, I highly recommend that first thing tomorrow you call and make an appointment with your PCP and call your surgeon's office to see if you can get a referral to a good therapist who works with bariatric patients. You do not have to go through this without help. In the meantime, try taking a warm shower or bath, and get a good nights sleep. Be gentle with yourself. We are here to help. I take two antidepressants, have been since 2011. My depression only got worse after the surgery, the antidepressants are hardly helping. I didn't know there were therapist that work with bariatric patients only, I'll call my surgeon tomorrow and see what can be done. Thank you so much. Sent from my SM-G360T1 using the BariatricPal App You may need to have your meds adjusted if they aren't helping. There are therapists who work with bariatric/WLS patients but there aren't many. Your surgeon's office would be where I would start to see if you can find someone.

Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

By definition, a stall is longer than a week. The "three week stall" is called that because it usually happens about three weeks after surgery, not because it lasts three weeks. The three week stall is where your body replenishes the energy/fluid that is stored in your liver that was depleted during the pre-op diet and post-op. It is possible that your body is doing the same thing now. It is also possible that your body just needs to take a break to rearrange, rebalance, etc. It has to do that periodically. As it dismantles the larger structure, there are going to be periods where you won't see changes on the scale. You still may see changes in your body, though. Please read this link: Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall There is a reason I posted it above.

    Purée/mushy/soft foods

I didn't have a puree phase. I went from full liquids to soft foods. I ate a lot of: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, turkey, tuna, soft fish, refried beans, chili, etc. Did your NUT give you a list of foods for this phase?

I think I am having my first stall...

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you are concerned, I would suggest you talk to your NUT. But, as long as you are following your program, getting in all of your fluids and Protein, and exercising, you should be fine. Starting weight 340 - age 50

Welcome! I started at the same age but at a much higher weight than you. I have lost over 200 pounds and still have a ways to go but I have absolutely no regrets.

    Girly thing! Can't take a pill/ help!

Edited to add: take the adult. The children's liquid Tylenol has high fructose corn syrup in it.

    Try liquid Tylenol.

    How do you motivate yourself?

I agree. I think that setting goals around actions I control rather than things I can't (like the numbers on the scale) is much more effective.

    How do you motivate yourself?

I stay motivated by setting short term goals (not related to the numbers on the scale) and celebrating milestones with rewards. Short term goals are usually events: art or writing classes, concerts, plays, trips, etc. My rewards tend to be massages and mani-pedis.

    Exercise?

For me, exercise is more about being healthy, feeling good, and keeping my metabolism revved than anything. Plus, I enjoy it. I was very immobile pre-op. I got an exercise peddler and worked my way up to peddling it with my hands for an hour a day. Post-op, I walked some until I was cleared to get in the pool. I have been doing most of my exercise in the pool ever since: Water aerobics, lap swimming, water weights/calisthenics, etc. It helps to find something you enjoy doing.

    Crossing the Dunes

One of my major goals is to be able to walk on the beach again, to be able to walk through the loose sand on the dunes, and to be able to easily get up after sitting on a beach towel without help. Ultimately, I want to be able to get up on a surf board and learn to surf. I am getting closer!

    Hawaiin Vacation

Are you kidding? Hawaii is paradise for fresh protein: seafood, seafood, and more seafood! I am jealous. Have a wonderful trip!

    Solids

I agree with this one. I have found that things I used to love (like French fries) smell so much better than they taste now. If you are on soft foods and feel you must have macaroni salad, make sure you are still getting in some Protein. I bet you will find it won't taste nearly good as you think it will though.

Two weeks out and not losing

There is really no way to predict how long it will last. I HIGHLY recommend you stay off the scale. Especially until you are able to reliably reach your Fluid and protein targets. Your primary goal right now is healing. The weight loss will come. You need enough protein and fluids for both healing and weight loss. 3 week stall Vegas trip

That doesn't sound like a stall: which is a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. That sounds like a binge to me. Glad you had fun. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

Five month stall and hair loss HELP!

Stalls are a normal, natural and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a lot of weight, you will experience stalls. Unfortunately, hair loss after surgery/anesthesia is not uncommon. Not everyone loses a noticeable amount of hair, but some people do. It will grow back. The best thing you can do is make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Robotic Surgery ?

My surgeon uses a robot. I actually had the choice of having my surgery performed at one of two hospitals where my surgeon performs surgery. The one I planned to use had a robot, but he wasn't using it there because his team hadn't yet been trained on it and the other hospital he used it because they had been. I asked him what the difference would be for me and he said there was really no difference. I chose the non-robot route because 1) I liked the hospital and 2) I could be scheduled sooner. All things being equal, the most important thing is the skill of the surgeon and surgical team. The tools they use are really not that big a deal to me. I just want a safe, effective, successful surgery.

    Eating plans?

My program focuses on protein, not number of meals or even calories. My goal is to get at least 100 grams of protein a day. That would be impossible without eating small meals and snacks.
