Am I being delusional?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to gettingsleeved1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with the previous posters. Also, keep in mind there is a difference between "full" and "satisfied". I prefer being satisfied to full (which is uncomfortable and icky). -

365 days to a new me

I vote for putting away the scale. I do much better when I focus on what I can control: water, Protein, Vitamins, exercise. The scale will take care of itself. -

How long between each bite?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ajg91342's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't recall a specific time guideline. Try taking a very small bite, putting your utensil down, then chewing 20-30 times before picking up your utensil again. -

"The Natural Way"
Inner Surfer Girl replied to dasEnglish93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fortunately, I haven't found the need to explain or justify my decision to have surgery to anyone. If "the natural way" doesn't work for you then it doesn't work. No need to apologize. -

Try near the pharmacy. They aren't refrigerated (but to me they taste best cold). -
Deviled egg ideas?

Weight, Bariatric Surgery, and Sleep - an Introduction
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Dr. Krainin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Excellent article. Thanks for the information. I hadn't really thought about fat it my tongue before. I went to the dentist yesterday and asked the hygienist if she noticed any fat loss on my gums. She said she noticed some shrinkage -- whatever that means! -

Disappointed and frustrated
Inner Surfer Girl replied to emz37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on the weight loss. I am sorry you are disappointed and frustrated. Have you talked to your NUT about your challenges and goals lately? That would be my first phone call. Are you attending support group meetings? Are you seeing a therapist? Have you considered attending Overeaters Anonymous meetings (OA.org)? You don't have to do this alone. In the meantime, go back to basics. Track your food. Focus on getting in all of your Protein. What is your protein target? Stay hydrated. Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Exercise. Keep us posted on how you are doing. -

sleeve next week, ?s about post diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to triplethreat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post-op diet was: 1 week Clear liquids (with a couple of exceptions) 1 week full liquids 1 week soft 1 week soft mechanical 1 week solid, and so on. Just follow your surgeon's program. You will have post-op follow-ups along the way and your surgeon can assess your progress and make adjustments to your post-op diet as necessary. The biggest cause of leaks lost-op leaks is actually steroid use, so the best thing to do to avoid leaks is to: 1) follow your post-op diet, and) 2) don't take any new medications without talking to your surgeon first. Follow your program. Focus on getting 64 oz of Fluid. Make sure you reach your protein target. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall. Best of luck with your surgery! Don't forget to walk and sip, sip, sip. -

Stuck
Inner Surfer Girl replied to lauriefromtexas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mention calories but not Protein. What is your protein target? Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. Eating enough protein helps keep your metabolism stoked. My target is at least 100 grams. At 100 grams, 700-800 calories would be extremely low, especially if you are exercising intensely. It sounds like you aren't eating enough. What does your NUT advise? Ways to keep your metabolism revved: Eat frequent small meals and Snacks of protein Exercise and move your body Stay hydrated Get enough restful sleep Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate and we all experience stalls. Follow your program. Track your food. Get at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Reach your protein target every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall. -
Wish I was losing faster
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jgeldmacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Why such a difference? What is your Protein target. Mine is 100 grams a day. That means at least 100 grams a day. 60 is very low, especially for a guy. -
Purée/mushy/soft foods
Inner Surfer Girl replied to charley27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am really surprised they specified low fat Peanut Butter. If you read labels, most peanut butter that is "low fat" or "reduced fat", has high fructose corn syrup in it. They basically dilute it with sugar to lower the fat ratio. PB2 would be what I would consider a real low fat option. Or, natural peanut butter with the fat skimmed off the top (but that would make it less creamy and harder to eat during the soft phase). Just my opinion.
