    Weight or volume?

It depends. I usually go by volume unless it's something solid.

To Join or Not To Join. That is my question.

By the way, since most gyms and fitness centers have personalities and cultures, and you have several to choose from, why not visit a variety before joining so you can get a flavor of the place?

To Join or Not To Join. That is my question.

It's up to you. I joined our local wellness center because I swim and they have an indoor pool. I have an outdoor pool at home but needed somewhere to swim in the winter or when the weather is bad.

    Suggestions and Motivation

One thing that can help me if I don't seem very self motivated is to sign up for a class. Maybe try a dance class, yoga class, or other activity that will get you moving. In addition to fitness centers, gyms, or YMCAs, I have seen exercise classes at churches, public libraries, senior centers, and even county extension offices.

    Advice for stalls?

    In a stall!

Yes, stalls are common. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone experiences stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.

    Baby food

It depends on your specific program and the kind of baby food. It is also very important to read labels carefully. Some baby food has a lot of sugar/carbs. Personally, I found real, adult food was much more palatable.

    My 600 lb life-Penny

Yes, unfortunately. Her story, actions, behaviors, and attitude are a great example if only of how to not be successful. I would love to sit down with Whitney Thore from My Big Fat Fabulous Life and watch it together. It is very sobering (both the original episode and the follow-up).
  10. Whether you are trying to lose weight in order to be approved for surgery, on your pre-op diet, recovering from surgery, or in maintenance, it can really help to find things to do to keep you from overeating. Here is an nice article with some great ideas. What are your favorites? Are there any that you would add? http://toomuchonherplate.com/25-ways-for-better-care-instead-of-eating/
  11. No, but probably only because I had been diagnosed and was being treated for severe sleep apnea.

    Embrace the Stall

Thanks! I appreciate it. The visual image really helps me. Especially the idea of my body as a massive warehouse full of shelves, fork lifts, conveyor belts, and little people in hard hats running around.

    Not losing post op?

You just had major surgery and are swollen and healing. I highly recommend staying off the scale for a while. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience fluctuations, slow downs, and stalls. Just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just focus on getting in n all of your Protein and fluids, and follow your program, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Over doing sushi?

Probably both. At three weeks I was on soft foods. Sushi was definitely NOT on the approved list.

    Protein, Protein, Protein

    1) I don't know. What does your NUT say. What shakes are you considering? What is the protein and carb content? 2) Try crystal light, Mio drops, wylers light, decaf tea, Herb tea, etc. If you want some protein try ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates or Syntrax nectar. If you can have room for your "soup" then you have room for protein shakes which have much more protein. I know you had bypass, but after 3 weeks you can certainly drink three shakes ins day. You just have to work at it.I'm two weeks out and I force myself to complete one can of pure protein shake in a day which is 35 grm of protein. Between trying to get through that can and getting my water in I am crazy full So to say a person can drink 3 in a day at 3 weeks is hard to believe. Shantell500 Keep sipping!

    Protein, Protein, Protein

I have been reading with alarm several posts from people lately who have recently had surgery and don't seem to have gotten the message about how important Protein is to their healing and their weight loss. It is as if a whole group have completely skipped any nutrition education and think that it is ok to starve themselves. Protein is critical (a minimum of 80-100 grams, depending on your surgeon's recommendation for your specific needs) Fluid is critical (at least 64 oz.). You do not get bonus points for not reaching those goals. In fact, it will slow your weight loss and healing. (Climbing down off of my soap box for now.)

    3 month stall

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you are going to experience stalls. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

How Did You Choose Your Surgeon?

I was very fortunate. My PCP referred me to an outstanding surgeon/bariatric program.

Do You Spend More Time Cooking?

Yes, I do more cooking and preparing food at home now. But, I don't have a full kitchen. If I did, I would probably doing even more cooking now.

    Hungry

Stomach acid can mimic hunger. If you are getting enough Water and Protein then your hunger may be due to stomach acid. Try taking the PPI and see if it helps.

    Calories

I am a little confused about your not having access to a NUT. Doesn't your surgeon offer post-op care? Just because they are in Mexico doesn't mean they aren't available via phone, email, etc. If they truly aren't available to you, then find a local NUT who works with bariatric/post-WLS patients.

I may have found the lid to my pot

    Love!

    Calories

That seems low, but the most important number that you don't even mention is Protein. What is your protein target? How are you doing at reaching your protein target? From everything I understand nutrition and quality is MUCH more critical for weight loss than just keeping calories low. What does your NUT say?
