Liquid Diet Post-Op length?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to guy17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you not received a detailed post-op diet plan? Mine was 1 week Clear Liquids (with a couple of exceptions, 1 week full liquids, 1 week soft, 1 week soft mechanical, etc. If in doubt, why not give your NUT and/or your surgeon's office a call? -
When I was on soft foods I ate green beans. I started drinking V8 during my full liquid phase.

I am back. I was offline most of last week because I was in the mountains of eastern Kentucky attending a writing workshop. It was an awesome experience and not something I could have even attempted a year ago (I was sleeved April 20, 2015). After over a year with my sleeve, I am over half-way to goal. Last week showed me how far I have progressed and also how much further I still have to go. It was a tiring week but I made it. One of my big concerns was my endurance. In addition, the physical accommodations were not exactly 21st century ADA compliant or bariatric friendly. I still survived. I was able to participate in almost everything with two major exceptions. I am looking forward to attending next year so that I can do the things I was physically unable to do this summer and more.

My Diet Coke has been laid to rest........
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually, when giving up the diet cokes you may find that you have an easier time dropping the 10-15 pounds than you thought. Weaning yourself off of carbonation and caffeine, drinking LOTS of Water, getting in enough Protein, and eating a lot of non starchy vegetables and avoiding starches may be all the "dieting" you need to do. -
Stall for a few weeks now
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Marissela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does it mean that you barely eat? Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Not eating enough can be as bad as eating too much. More detail about what you are doing would better help us to offer advise. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight you will experience stalls. App for Tracking Post-Op Water, Protein, Food, Exercise?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to gina171's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use MyFitnessPal in conjunction with my Misfit Shine activity tracker. You can manually enter exercise in MyFitnessPal but if you have a fitness tracker it plays well with others. -
Can't get protein in
Inner Surfer Girl replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PS, if you are on puréed foods then Greek yogurt and cottage cheese both have a lot of protein. -
Can't get protein in
Inner Surfer Girl replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
15-20 grams a day is not nearly enough. My target is 100 grams. The lowest target my surgeon recommends for anyone at his practice is 80 grams. Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. The sooner you can get in enough protein and fluids the better you will feel. I would highly recommend you keep pushing both. Sip all day if you have to. Keep trying different protein shakes and supplements. Try Syntrax nectar, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Quest, unjury, etc., etc. You can get sample sizes to try. Just keep sipping. -
Yummy Protein DRINK! Not shake.
Inner Surfer Girl replied to meyouus's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates (eat undiluted, or mix in Water...no blender), Syntrax nectar (mix with spoon or shaker cup...no blender), ProtiDiet Soups (mix with spoon...no blender), premier Protein (screw top...no blender), blend a shake the night before and put in the refrigerator, etc. There are lots of options if you don't want to use a blender in the morning. -
I would strongly disagree. Getting professional help can save your life. Actively practicing your addiction (whatever form that takes) is what will ruin your life, career, relationships, etc.

Week 5 my diet
Inner Surfer Girl replied to soundguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting in enough Protein and fluids and taking your Vitamins and supplements are critical for healing, healthy, and weight loss. What do you mean you cannot take any vitamins? Are you physically unable? What have you tried? Are you trying to take high potency vitamins on an empty stomach? -
Stalls, gains...
Inner Surfer Girl replied to triplethreat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Out of context, who knows. Short-term weight fluctuations are usually related to Water retention, constipation, hydration/dehydration etc. Another excellent reason not to weigh frequently. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
1 month sleeve celebration and weight
Inner Surfer Girl replied to 4u2nvyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm taking in about 700 -800 calories a day. My activity level is still quite low too because I fatigue easily. Right now I get my protein from chicken noodle soup blended with some chicken, egg white (I ate it twice & gave me a tummy upset all day so I stopped eating it) and light cheese. I do not live in the United States so I don't have the protein shakes u do. This week I'm supposed to start on a larger variety of food so hopefully my protein sources will be more Sent from my SM-N910C using the BariatricPal App Do you have sprite in target? 700-800 calories seems low to me but I have a protein target of 100 grams a day. Getting in more protein and calories along with enough fluids will help with healing, fatigue, and weight loss. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -

Give up on goal weight?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Rebecca Friesen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds to me like your body is happy at the current weight. The numbers on the scale are just that, numbers. Is there a particular reason you are so focused on that particular number? -
Getting in the pool?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Jeff711's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't cleared to get into the pool until my incisions had completely closed with no holes. -
I can't believe it is August already.
-
I know, this is bad and I am a Halloween junky. I was married on Halloween and our family usually celebrates like Christmas. We all get together and have parties and..... Anyway, we usually start preparing in August believe it or not. It's sad how fast the summer is going.

Can use some recipe advice
Inner Surfer Girl replied to GetBack_095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As to Ketchup, like everything else, read the label. My surgeon wants me to avoid high fructose corn syrup like the plague. Most prepared ketchups have high fructose corn syrup. I use ketchup every once in a blue moo. (I prefer salsa) so have one that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup. -
Starting week four- exercise suggestions?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to triplethreat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got in the pool as soon as I was cleared to get in the Water. I started with deep water aerobics, water walking/running, calisthenics, and weights. I worked my way up to lap swimming. -
Suggestions and Motivation
Inner Surfer Girl replied to 1Cor2:9's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am an introvert (with extrovert skills --- it's my super power!). Even introverts need friends and social interaction. I say that to encourage you to at least consider eventually trying a class someday. You may find that you actually like it! -
How to quit sugar ?!?!?!?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's about texture. My question would be pickled what? (I love anything pickled: cucumbers, veggies, kraut, etc.) Pickle juice is probably ok during liquids. A very soft inside of a pickled cucumber is probably ok on soft foods. I would save crunchier, denser pickled vegetables for once you are on mechanical foods. -
Length of hospital stay?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Hretan01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They need you to be healthy, too! You don't get bonus points for going back too early, especially if you have complications or just need more time to recover.
