    Random Thought/Question

Everyone is different. Some people get sick eating a lot of sugar, some people don't. Personally, sugary foods (like cake) don't really appeal to me any more. I am over a year out and have had a small cupcake, an occasional cookie, etc. but it isn't really something I crave. For me, once I got sugar and starches out of my system, I really haven't craved them. If I do eat sugar though, the cravings can come back.

How much did you lose the first week

I am so sorry to hear that you had to go through this again. Any idea why you were not able to lose weight with the first sleeve? What are you doing differently now?I'm not sure the doctor really didn't know him self WHY it failed. He said about 10 percent of people that get the sleeve it does not work because of boby dynamics The second time around I told him I wanted to see pictures for reasurance. If I was not a surgical tech I would have taught he did nothing to me. Some people say it depends on how aggressive the surgeon is. So he said I would probably only lose 20 more pounds 30 would be over achieving Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App Other than solely relying on the sleeve, the post-op food plan is critical. What plan did you follow before? What plan are you following now? Have you changed anything? What is your post-op food plan? Are you tracking your food? What is your Protein target? Are you getting at least that much protein every day? Are you getting AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid every day? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Are you exercising? Are you practicing mindful eating? Eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly? I am curious and wish you all the best this time around.

    Still Sick

Other than plain Water and soda, what have you tried? Have you tried different temperatures? Have you tried water enhancers, infusions, teas, etc? What Protein supplements have you tried? Have you tried clear protein supplements like Isopure, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Syntrax nectar, etc?

    Alcohol.

I might throw something out there about Doritos and cheese dip or something, just to make my weekend more entertaining! Actually, I'm going to a beer fest tomorrow...gasp. Mostly I'm hoping for one of those little taster glasses...that's about my speed with beer right now I don't drink or smoke...(I know how boring)....But how about some chocolate?...or home baked bread?? haha A home baked blueberry scone! My member name here should be "BlueberrySconeFanatic" instead of Shelterdog...I've developed SUCH a craving for them. But in keeping with my new, virtuous lifestyle, I've been putting blueberries in my oatmeal and pretending it's a scone. Hahahaha, it's not working but I'm trying!! Chocolate covered blueberry scones all around! Add some cocoa powder to your oatmeal! For Breakfast today, I added WonderSlim dark chocolate Protein pudding powder and PB2 to my oatmeal to up the protein. Yum.

    Very emotional and need support

You do not deserve to be treated in this manner. I highly recommend some couples counseling. He does not have permission to abuse you: verbally or physically, EVER. If this is how he behaves under stress then either he needs help right now and/or you are better off without him.

    Meal planning and living alone

I agree, but I have always lived alone as an adult. My grandmother was the opposite. She always cooked for an army, even when it was just she and my grandfather. She had a very difficult time once she was alone.

    Random Thought/Question

I love cottage cheese. I started a thread on here a while back that has a lot of suggestions. My favorites: Plain Plain with crushed black pepper Plain with picante sauce Plain with sliced ripe tomato and crushed black pepper Plain with ripe tomato, artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, feta, peppers (sort of like a Greek salad) Dress it like a salad Make it like a dip. I have a good Greek herb mix that I mix in Etc, etc

    Weight stall

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Had my sleeve done yesterday

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and fluctuations. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks out. Don't be upset if you stall about now. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

Wendi's Chili or Panera's Tomato Basil

In reality, unless you are housebound, sometimes it just makes sense to eat out. Wendy's Chili is a great choice for fast food.

    Changes after hair loss

I think that has a lot to do with it.

    Changes after hair loss

I always have had very thick hair. It's almost like I have two head of hair: the top and sides are straight and the back and underneath are curlier. I wore my hair long for years. Not long after surgery I had it all cut off and donated it. I have been wearing it short since then and because it isn't as heavy and weighted down, it tends to be curlier. I didn't notice any significant hair loss due to surgery.

    No veggies.....?

I actually think that eating a variety of vegetables is a great goal, but just not at the expense of getting enough protein, ESPECIALLY early out when we need protein to heal from major surgery and we have a limited amount of room for any food.

Thank you so much for the encouragement and the great suggestions. I may take you up on your offer!

    No veggies.....?

The heart is a muscle and if you are protein deficient your body will start to consume your own muscle. It seems that being protein deficient would be more dangerous for your heart.

Sonics diet slush is a lie

I know, it is aggravating that they do that. Good thing the employee gave you a heads up. We had a big thread on this sometime last year. I LOVE regular Sonic ice, though.

Wendi's Chili or Panera's Tomato Basil

I don't know why not as long as you blend the chili (it is a bit chunky). What does your program/NUT say?

What are your best tips for success?

Sleevers don't have pouches to stretch. Believe me when I say it is going to be practically impossible to drink too much water early out. If you are like most people, it is going to be a struggle to get enough, at least while you are healing from surgery. As to Meal Replacement shakes, if you are like me, you will look forward to every food stage because it is really boring to eat/drink the same things all the time. Variety is the spice of life.

Great idea! When I lived in Atlanta I used to pass a shoe store every day that catered to drag queens. I figured if anyone could do comfortable, large-sized high heels, they could!

Thank you! It is exciting and scary. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to work on my health: between swimming and physical therapy I stay pretty busy as it is. Going back to work is going to be an adjustment. I just pray that I find the "right" job. I do have time to find something good, as opposed to just finding anything. I do live in a more rural area than I did when I was working, so there are fewer good opportunities and try don't come around very often. If you pray, please keep me in your prayers!

Great idea. The ones I had made before have elastic waist bands, but a draw string would be better. The few skirts I wear all the time that so bought online have drawstrings and pockets. I will never buy another skirt without pockets if I can help it!

Thanks for the reminder. We have a store in a nearby town that carries Clarks. The last time I went there (pre-op) I couldn't find any that I could wear. I'll have to try again.

What are your best tips for success?

Some critical success factors for me: Ask lots of questions and learn as much as possible. Keep asking until I understand. Write everything down. My bariatric team gave me a manual and I consulted it frequently. Be rigorously honest with myself and my medical team. Do everything I am asked to do by my team, even if I think I can't. Gradually weaned myself off of carbonation and caffeine pre-op. Record my food. I use MyFitnessPal. A fitness tracker is helpful. I wear a Misfit Shine. Follow my post-op food plan. Focus on getting my 100 grams of Protein and AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid every day. Stay off the scale. Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods. Take my Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise regularly (when cleared). I am a Water baby, so swimming is my exercise of choice. Practice mindful eating: eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly. Use every resource available to me when necessary: my bariatric team, NUT, surgeon, psych, support group meetings, OA, self-help books, BariatricPal, MyFitnessPal, etc. Participating regularly on BariatricPal has been very helpful. Watching shows like My 600 Pound Life and My Big Fat Fabulous Life have been educational and thought-provoking (and often infuriating). Practicing self-care, especially by finding ways to reward myself that don't involve food: massages, mani/pedis, art classes, writing classes and workshops, knitting, etc. And, most importantly, learning to Embrace the Stall! Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall Best of luck with your surgery and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

    I am a full-busted (now floppy), pear.

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

PS, I have ALWAYS been a plus size. I went from girls 6x to plus sizes. Shopping in stores has ALWAYS been a torture for me.
