When did the "tired" stop?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to GACaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see that you posted in post-op. Why are you taking aspirin? Is your surgeon aware of this? -
Embrace the Stall
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are you tracking your food? What is your Protein target? How much protein are you consuming every day? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid every day? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements? Are you practicing mindful eating: eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly? Are you exercising? If so, how much? What is your current weight? What was your starting weight? When did you have surgery? Have you talked to your NUT lately about your concerns? If so, what does he or she suggest? Yes, I am tracking my food.I'm not sure what my protein target is, will verify with the NUT. I am getting at least 64 oz of fluid daily. I am not totally avoiding starches, but am making the point to eat those last at my meal if I'm still hungry, which is not usually. Yes, I am taking my vitamins and supplements. Yes to mindful eating, but sometimes realize I should eat slower. Exercising 3x a week, which is more than pre-op which was zero. My current weight is 235, started at 285. Surgery was 10/2015. Am awaiting a response for appt time from my NUT. Thx for your input! If you are this far out post-op and don't know what your protein target is or how much protein you are consuming, my guess is that you probably aren't eating enough protein. That could definitely contribute to a long stall. Eating protein first, and eating enough protein, may be the first thing to focus on to "break" your stall. Try aiming for at least 80 grams until you talk to your NUT. -

I guess it depends on what you are doing. Without more detail it is hard to offer suggestions. -
My Big Fat Fabulous Life 2016 Season
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in The Lounge
Well, that was a train wreck. The season is finally over and it seems like Whitney is deeper in denial than ever. For her sake, I really hope this show isn't renewed for another season. -
I am not sure what chart you are referring to. I eat several small protein-rich meals and snacks a day to get in 100 grams of protein. Even if I just had protein shakes I would be getting in more calories than you are.

Don't forget the calcium chews: chocolate, caramel, raspberry, and lemon!

Why are so many stages different?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim's topic in Food and Nutrition
My plan is liquids including Protein shakes in the hospital and until day 8 when we are allowed purees. No Pasta, bread or rice "forever" (or anything doughy that expands in stomach). I remember seeing a post from a woman who was eating lasagna (pureed) a week after surgery because she felt she should be able to eat what her family was eating. I always wonder how those people make out in the long run. Even if my plan allowed pasta - I wouldn't be having it - it's a major factor in why I'm fat! Were Italian so for us leaving pasta out is like leaving a part of us. But, I can do it I weighed 279 April 7th of the year. On the day of surgery I weighed 244. It's exactly two weeks later and I am down to 218. So, I'll skip the pasta. I was just blown away that they recommend it for him that soon and even had directions for the lasagna roll up. But, anywho thank you for all you responses. Every culture has a staple starch (or starches). It is possible to enjoy the Proteins without the starch: think meatballs and sauce, pasta sauces over vegetables, etc. -
Deal breaker.

This sounds like a conversation you need to have with your surgeon. Your medical team can help you weigh risks and rewards. -
On Full Liquids - I found something I enjoy so there must be something wrong. Help me find it!

My surgeon's office carries it and I also order online from Bariatric Choice. The tomato basil and creamy chicken soups kept me sane during the liquid phases. -
Anyone from KY?

Welcome! I live in Danville and was sleeved by Dr. Weiss at Georgetown. -
This is sort of funny in a sad way. If someone wasn't a big drinker before surgery then they probably don't care one way or another. But, I bet all the heavy drinkers latch onto these guidelines and swear they weren't heavy drinkers so they can have permission to start drinking after one month. How is this policy working out?

How long was your longest stall?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sleever068's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry you feel that way. If someone is allowing themselves to turn to food because they are frustrated by a stall, which is a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight, then I think it is applicable. I am not being dismissive, I am just tired. -
10 years post op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to bbygrljustice's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's never too late to go back to basics. Why not make an appointment with your NUT (or a new NUT if your previous NUT is not available) to talk about your goals. Also, research on nutrition has brought quite a few changes in the last few years. In the meantime: track your food focus on getting in at least 64 oz fluids make sure you are getting in enough Protein (my protein target is 100 grams, do you have a protein target?) avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup, starches, and fried foods and, exercise -

Double-check, but if you dilute some of the Syntrax Nectars they are clear. Getting in enough protein is critical for healing so my surgeon encouraged using protein starting day one. I was even allowed Premier Protein as a clear liquid since it isn't very thick. I like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates better than Isopure. I was given those in the hospital and my surgeon's office sells them. You can also get them online. -

Really tired
Inner Surfer Girl replied to adrinanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Without more information it is really hard to tell. Have you talked to your doctor? Are you staying hydrated? Are you getting enough protein/eating enough? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Are you getting enough restful sleep? Are you managing your stress? -

I like it too, but I usually make it with Water. I have also mixed it into my oatmeal. It sounds like an excellent choice for your liquid phase. Your priority is Protein and fluids, and it has both. Nothing to be worried about as far as I can tell. -
30/30/30 rule

The video makes sense for people with a bypass. Just keep in mind that Sleevers still have a pyloric valve that is functional. -
I agree with the above posters. I hope you love your new dog. It is not the best idea to get a pet for someone else. That is a personal decision that someone needs to make on their own and be responsible for themselves. I am not at all surprised that it worked out the way it did. Boundaries are very powerful tools. I know from decades of working in a variety of office environments how challenging it can be to work in close quarters with difficult people. Learning to set an enforce your own boundaries would be a tremendously helpful skill for you to learn and practice. It will also be valuable in your WLS journey. One book you might find helpful is The One Life Solution by Dr. Henry Cloud.

If you are only eating 200 calories a day you are definitely not eating enough. What is your protein target?

Yes, there is a scientific reason almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. Remember that pre-op diet to shrink your liver? About three weeks post-op is when your body decides to replenish the glucose in your liver. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
