Me and my mother are both getting vsg
Inner Surfer Girl replied to TheNewSamanthaSmiles17's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Its great that you will be able to support each orher. I have seen some posts from mothers and daughters on these boards so you may want to reach out to them for their experiences. The only thing that I would suggest is that you both will need to resist the urge to compare your recovery and progress to each other too much. So many folks on these boards seem to drive themselves crazy by comparing their journeys to other people. Since you both are different ages and have different starting places you will have different experiences and results. Best of luck to both of you! -

Comgratulations! -
You need to follow your surgeons instructions. I wouldn't advance a stage until my surgeon gives me the ok.
-
The way my team explained it is that all the stages relate to texture. As you heal, you are able to tolerate rougher textures (so starting with clear liquids, then full liquids, then soft etc is related to the rate of healing).

From all the research I have been doing (I am not sleeved yet) you should be able to eventually eat most anything but not as much as presurgery. As to whether you will want to I hear the sleeve and subsequent healthier diet will impact what you want to eat.

I like premiere, lean shake 25 from gnc (orange is my favorite) and carnation instant no sugar added.

Desperately need a connection here.

I am planning to have the sleeve. I have completed all my tests and am waiting for approval from voc rehab to schedule my surgery date (my insurance doesn't cover). Over the past year I have gone from 100% against surgery to eager to start my new life! I am sure that with research and consultation with your medical team you will find what works best for you. It seems like this forum is a great place for encouragement and information. -
Happy Birthday! I want to play tennis! One of my nsv goals is to play with my dad again. I am 50 and I lettered in tennis in high school. The last time I played was in college. My dad who is over 70 still plays 3 times a week.

Bathing suit
Inner Surfer Girl replied to meyouus's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I get bathing suits from Woman Within (they have a catalog and are online). I am not sure what the largest sizes are but they have a wide range. I like the tankinis (you can order different top and bottom sizes of you need to). -
REGRETS IN LIFE
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mercy96's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its never too late to follow your dreams and everything you have accomplished and experienced up to now gives you a foundation for what lies ahead. -
You can use a rice cooker for so much more than rice ... Grains like quinoa and oatmeal, lentils, beans, cous cous, etc. Its also great for steaming veggies and fish. I use my rice cooker more than my slow cooker.

Has anyone got advice on how to look after little kids during post-op?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to I'm Ready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there another parent or other family member who can help? A babysitter? Friend? Neighbors? Time to rally the troops! -
Weight comes off here and there
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sue_t's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
From my lifetime of dieting knowlesge this is my understanding of why we have plateaus and stalss. The plateaus are when the body rearranges the fat to make it more proportional. When you lose rapidly your body has to take breaks to shift everything around so it can better acess the fat. Not sure of a reference for this but it makes sense to me. -
Less than 40 lbs overweight considering sleeve
Inner Surfer Girl replied to 4jelly4belly4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There is no permanent "easy" solution. Have you considered OA in addition to therapy? OA has been very helpful for my sanity when it comes to food and life. -
STUCK TOO SOON
Inner Surfer Girl replied to supercomik's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am preop but have been doing tons of research. The best advice I have heard based on many other people's experience is to stay off the scale! -
flavorless protein powders?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to veeleexb's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There also seem to be a lot of shills for this product on this chat board which leaves a bad taste in my mouth --- cliche intended. -
Surgery tomorrow at 11:30
Inner Surfer Girl replied to prob559's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op and completely understand. I will be in your shoes soon! My advice...breathe! You are going to be fine. -
My surgeon requires a high protein, low carb diet for two weeks in order to shrink my liver. It consists of meal replacement shakes and protein rich foods (no carbs aloud). I only have to do clear liquids the day before surgery.

Americas Test Kitchen did a hummus taste test a couple of weeks ago and they picked Sabra as the best.

Question right after surgery, how did you sleep?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Rovobay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op but this is a concern of mine. I have a hard enough time getting in bed now and can't imagine being able to do so after surgery. Fortunately, i was able to find a used bariatric recliner so I am all set!
