C-pap machine. How does that work with surgery?

I know that I was instructed to bring mine to the hospital. As far as I know you don't use it during the actual surgery.

    Intro / questions (long)

One question I would ask your surgeon since you are an athlete is about nutrition post-surgery. My understanding of a difference between bypass and sleeve is a difference in nutrient absorption. Best of luck with your decision and thank you for your service!

    WLS & Mental Illness.

Definitely keep your surgeon in the loop, especially if you rely on meds.

    Honest thoughts before my surgery

    I want my life back.
  17. My surgeon's big no-no is high fructose corn syrup. Consider trying things without any sweetening. The last time I went off of sugar I found that many things I automatically added sweetener to didn't really need it.

    Food addiction issues

If you haven't found a good support group you might want to consider finding one: OA, a group through your surgeon's office, and/or therapy might be helpful.

    Juicing on pre-op diet?

My surgeon did stress that for the pre-op liquid diet to make sure to use meal replacement shakes (not all protein supplements are meal replacement).

    Do you eat oatmeal?

I quit eating McDonalds salads years ago. I swear they must use some weird preservative because they have always messed up my tummy.

    Anybody doing NaNoWriMo next month?

Someone going through a major life change (like WLS) could be a great theme.
  22. Great post. I have always been overweight and have never been overly athletic, but in recent years I have become extremely limited physically. I am so eager to be able to do even the most basic things.
