My lunch bag is a sad place right now
Inner Surfer Girl replied to JenWith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have used this mindfulness exercise in the past. Take one small piece of dark chocolate. Slowly and mindfully open the package noticing everything that there is about all your senses (feel, sound, smell, etc.). Place the chocolate on your tongue and let it slowly warm up and melt in your mouth. It is very surprising how long a single piece of chocolate can last and how satisfying it can be. -
I don't have any first-hand experience or recommendations, but Pinterest has lots of very interesting recipes that I want to try someday. Search vsg or sleeve or bariatric and soft desert. Let us know what you decide to make. Sounds like fun.

Water Bottle + Other Recommendations?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to heynowkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre-op but have been drinking a ton of water. I love this thermos water bottle. The top opens with a press on the button. It's easy to carry and fits well in my hand. It isn't thermal. -
After 2-mos hiatus from the gym my endurance is zero and my legs hurt. Advice, please!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Try something completely different like a water aerobics class, water walking/running, or lap swimming. I am a water baby and as far as I am concerned, water cures all ills! -
Will water keep me fat?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad you are home and doing better. I may need to block my access to all social media while I am on pain meds! -
I am so sorry your surgeon has offered so little support. Pre and post surgical support are critical. Where did you have your surgery? Was it a Center of Excellence?

Hawaii here I come in a size 8!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to allielee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
One of my goals is to get up on a surfboard (hence my forum profile name). I've been to Hawaii twice. Once after losing a significant amount of weight on Medifast years ago and once at my highest weight when I couldn't even walk on the beach. I can't wait to return for a third trip. You look like you are having a blast! -
Unflavored protein powder

Fear and recent death in Texas
Inner Surfer Girl replied to k9nana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon, who has had excellent results , said that the biggest risks are pneumonia and blood clots. The one example he gave of someone who died soon after surgery was a gentleman whose family wouldn't let him get up and walk. -

Name something strange and super unhealthy that you used to eat before weight loss
Inner Surfer Girl replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Food and Nutrition
I haven't eaten the peanut butter/Karo syrup combo in at least 25 years but the memory lingers (see my note about low fat peanut butter)! -
Skinny People's Poop May Hold the Disgusting Key to Weight Loss
Inner Surfer Girl replied to mistysj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is an in-depth article about fecal transplants in the current New Yorker magazine that is very informative. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/12/01/excrement-experiment -
If you know what size you wear already or don't mind returning shoes that don't fit, Footsmart has a good selection in their catalog.

My grandmother introduced me to Peanut Butter and Karo syrup. I knew that low-fat peanut butter wasn't for me the first time I tasted it. Sure enough it has added corn syrup. -
To Big Men: How to get enough calories?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to MsUjima's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I know from my surgeon' talk is that he needs at least 100 grams of protein. (Men and people with a higher starting weight need at least that much protein.) -
There is a whole thread devoted to this.

If You Are A Food Addict Please Read This Book!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to HetKF's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too read on a Kindle but ordered the workbook in physical form. I haven't used it yet. I am still pre-op so still reading some other literature but I got the workbook for post-op use. The reason I got the book in the first place is that my former therapist in Atlanta used it and recommended it. I'd live to hear other people's experience with resources like this.
