    Bathing Suits

Lands End has some very nice suits. I am pre-op and still get mine from Woman Within. I am looking forward to going back to Lands End and to being able to order more than accessories from Swell.

    Stupid snow!

I had a test scheduled at Central Baptist for today. I knew on Monday that I would be snowed in today based on the forecast. I rescheduled for next Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Better to stay in and be safe.

    Service Dog?

That would be a great question to ask your surgeon's office. Best of luck with your surgery.
  4. Here is a new article about a change in US nutrition guidelines related to cholesterol. It's pretty comprehensive and illustrates why nutrition guidelines evolve. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/02/10/feds-poised-to-withdraw-longstanding-warnings-about-dietary-cholesterol/

    Cholesterol and US Nutrition Guidelines

I am convinced that milk drinking alone is not the culprit in obesity but the hormones used in milk production are.

    Clean eating/exercise no loss...

First, congratulations! A pound a week is great. Second, how much Water are you drinking (you don't include it in your detail)? Third, are you meeting your protein goal daily?

New Study suggests 12K steps a day! Ugh

My opinion: More movement is better than less. Based on my own understanding of how complex metabolism is, I am not very impressed with the study design. Anyone who is interested in being more healthy isn't going to be drinking sodas with high fructose corn syrup. As an aside, as someone who is super morbidly obese and never drank non-diet soda, I find it interesting that "sugary" sodas are singled out as a major culprit in obesity -- I have come to believe that artificial sweeteners are at least as much a cause as high fructose corn syrup.

    Anthem Insurance Hack

Folks in the US may have already heard about the Anthem insurance hack. Here is some detail about the hack that may be helpful http://fortune.com/2015/02/05/anthem-suffers-hack/

    Sewing machines

Why not go to a fabric store and take a class or ask the folks there what they recommend? They probably have some machines you can try to help you decide.
  10. Still praying. Thanks for the update.

    "Thank God for My Sleeve!"

I probably shouldn't respond to this since I am Christian but I couldn't resist. Quite a few surgeons really believe they are "god" so it could still be accurate even if you don't believe in God.

    Fat People programs

Not a fat person show, but Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta had another WLS bride on this week. She had a very hard for time seeing herself objectively.

I meant...why not eat the yolks, too? They are nutritious and delicious.

Cooking for One: Part Two: What to Eat

Sounds like great advice (except your obsession with egg whites!).

    Fat People programs

I agree with a great deal of what you say but had to comment on this. I love Project Runway, too but it has its own set of issues with people whose bodies are anything larger than a sample/dress mannequin size.

    Travel in Developing Countries

I understand your dilemma. Is there someone (a native to the culture/s) you could ask? I would hope that there has got to be a polite way to decline large quantities or explain that you physically can't eat things that will make you ill. The whole idea of weight loss surgery in cultures where food is traditionally scarce has got to seem unreal so I don't even think going into detail about your surgery would be helpful or appropriate but there must be a way to show respect without hurting yourself. Plus I would think that in food scarce cultures, Protein would be at a premium and carbs would be a staple. Is there a way you can provide appropriate food gifts to your hosts (something they value that you could eat). This is an interesting issue and I am curious to hear what solution/s you arrive at (if there are any).

What a fabulous opportunity. I can't answer your question but I would love to hear more about your experiences.

Don't let them forget your scripts!

That is great news. This is the kind of service that merits recognition. You might want to consider a thank you note and a note to her boss.

I love Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea and it also tastes sweet to me. It's the cinnamon that makes it taste sweet. It's delish!

    Thanks!
  23. Try working more movement into your day in small chunks throughout the day if you have a hard time with exercising. What are the barriers to exercising? Time? Mobility? Physical limitations? Energy level? Motivation? I have mobility issues and am now using an exercise peddler by pedaling with my hands for at least 60 minutes a day by using it when I watch tv. The folks on this board can give you lots of ideas if we knew more about your situation. Believe it or not you will feel better if you get in some exercise.

Meal planning after surgery with a foodie spouse.

Actually, what I have noticed (as someone who has never cooked and is starting to learn so I can eat more healthy) is that good bariatric-friendly cooking seems more "Top Chef" and less "junk food". If you focus on great flavors and small portions he may be a great asset. I got a good cookbook from Amazon (can't remember the name) that has some gourmet recipes that look really good.
