HELP PLEASE! 15 y/o post op!

You may just need to try a variety. Some ideas: Carnation instant Breakfast essentials (no sugar added) ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates (clear/fruit flavored) Syntrax nectar unjury ProtiDiet hot chocolate WonderSlim Protein puddings (I like these better than the ProtiDiet) Isopure GNC Lean 25 Premier Protein Also, if the smell bothers you, try drinking from something with a lid.

    Weight

It sounds like you are doing the right things and eating the right kinds of foods. I agree that upping your Water will help. Have you cut out caffeine and carbonation? If not, just doing that may help. Also, are you tracking your food? It is helpful to know what your macros are: Protein, carbs, fats, and calories.
  3. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 with a much higher weight and BMI than you and couldn't be happier with my decision, surgery, recovery, and progress so far. Best of luck with your surgery. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

    Fall from grace :(

I am so sorry that you are having a rough time, but thrilled that you are back! I was thinking about you not long ago. I have struggled with depression for years so know it can do a number on us. Have you talked to your doctor about your depression and struggles? Are you seeing a therapist? Are you attending support group meetings? Have you talked to your NUT lately? I highly recommend you start making some appointments today. Are you tracking your food? I also suggest you go back to basics. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. Exercise not only helps with general health and weight loss, it can be a tremendous help with depression. Since many of us used food to cope with life pre-op, post-op it is even more important that we learn new, healthy coping skills. A good therapist, a bariatric support group, and even a 12-step recovery group like OA (OA.org), can help you gain tools for living without relying on food to deal with life's ups and downs. BariatricPal is also a great source of support. I am so glad to see you back amongst us. Welcome back!
  5. I am so glad you were able to catch this on time and that you are on the mend. Excellent advise.

    Risky behavior

I agree. Have you explored Sex Addicts Anonymous? It is similar to AA, OA, NA, and other recovery support groups. I just wanted to thank you for bravely sharing your story and struggles. I can definitely see how easy it might be to get drawn into unhealthy relationships and behavior, especially when you have never had the chance to learn how to navigate the world socially. I hope you can find a way to learn those skills in a safe, nurturing environment. You need to surround yourself with people who can love you in appropriate ways while you learn to love yourself. I hope you allow us to help. Sending virtual hugs.

    Swimwear

Zulilly often has suits. I don't know if they have any now or not. Let me know if you need a referral code.

    Food Aroma

Post-op, one thing I have learned is to be satisfied with the aroma of some foods. The smell is often better than the taste anyway.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life 2016 Season

I wasn't going to watch this show anymore and here I am watching the first episode of the new season. Bless her heart. Whitney is still: delusional, annoying, crass, starved for attention, and frustrating. She is also still: not fabulous.
  12. I'm overdue for a pedicure (which I can actually get now because I can fit in the pedicure chairs!).
  13. I have severe lymphoedema and lipoedema in my legs but it ends at my ankles. That said, since I have lost over 200 pounds so far, it is much easier to wear shoes! No boots anytime soon, though.

    Swimwear

Now that I can buy off the rack, I have gotten some suits at Target. I wear 2 piece tankinis, etc. because my bottom is bigger than my top. Before this summer, I got a lot of my suits from Woman Within. They have a pretty broad selection. Before I got too big for them, many years ago when I could wear a one piece. I loved Lands End suits.

    No veggies.....?

No, I just use the regular or low sodium.

    Embrace the Stall

You are very welcome. I am learning along with everyone else. Post-WLS life is so different from anything we have known before!
  17. No, I don't wait after Protein shakes because they are liquid. Being protein "obsessed" is what works for me and it what I have learned from my awesome surgeon. Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. I would be curious to know how your NUT's patients are doing over time with both their recovery and progress. Has she been doing this a long time? Does she work primarily with bariatric/WLS patients?

I don't even know what to eat

Congratulations! I don't have any answers to your questions but these sound like great questions to bring to your NUT. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing!

    Food Aroma

I just take a big whiff and remind myself that I just experienced the best part and that eating whatever won't improve the experience,
  20. Initially, while I was still healing, I sipped something all day in order to get in all my 100 grams of Protein. As I healed, I could eat more purposeful protein-focused meals and Snacks I still have to eat more than three times a day to get 100 grams of protein.

    Tomatoes

I ate a lot of ProtiDiet tomato basil soup on my clear phases. It has a decent amount of Protein. I also started drinking V8 during my clear phase. As long as it is allowed on your post-op food plan, why not?

Worried about gas pains after surgery

As @@KristenLe said, it is gas that is used to inflate your abdomen. For me, I only really felt it in my left shoulder. People do use GasX but I am not sure how much good it does because the gas is not in your digestive tract. Walking, moving, a heating pad, raising my hands over my head, etc. helped the most.
  23. So dumb question why is cold water difficult? I prefer my water cold and haven't noticed any issues with it. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs I don't know either but I think it has something tondo with water tension (at least in part). You will just have to try different temperatures and infusions to see what works. It took a while, but I can drink a lot of ice water now.
  24. I had an excellent therapist once who thought that almost all food issues were inextricably linked to sex and intimacy. This is an outstanding personal essay that really resonates with me. What do you think? http://hazlitt.net/feature/hunger-makes-me

    Feelings hurt

Don't listen to them. It sounds like they don't know how to deal with change. That is on them. You have made the decision that is right for you. Best of luck with your surgery.
